Playing mil-sim games without communication is like missing out on a big part of the fun, as it removes the tactical aspect of the game. That's why it's crucial to talk to your teammates, and if you can, play with your friends. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam allows you to do just that, and you can create a private unit before joining a game. However, the process might confuse you, which is why we've added a step-by-step guide to multiplayer in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam so you can add friends, join each other, and even enable/disable crossplay!
How to Play With Friends in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam relies on the Epic Games Store platform for its core social features. If you want to team up with your friends, queue together, and use the rest of the social features in the game, you will have to create an Epic Games account first.
Now, launch the game, and if you get an automatic prompt to use Epic Games Services, accept it and log in to your account. If not, just click on the helmet icon in the top right corner of the screen to log in to Epic Services. After logging in, the game will automatically link your Epic Games account to your current platform account (Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox).
You can now return to the game, and the social features will be available. To add friends to your squad, click on the helmet icon we mentioned earlier. Then, click on one of the available slots with a plus icon. Here, you will spot every friend of yours who has already been added to your platform account. So, you don't need to add your Steam friends again, as they will be visible here.
However, you can only add them if they are already on the main menu of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam as well.
If you want to add a new friend for the first time, switch to the Add Friend screen and enter their name. You can enter either their platform profile ID or their Epic Games profile ID. However, it's recommended to search for friends with the latter.
After adding all your friends, you can start queuing for a server as the party leader. The good news is that you will join the server as a unit, and you won't need to find a unit to join after entering the match. Also, you can adjust some settings like unit type before queuing. This way, you can lock your unit to prevent anyone from joining it after entering a server.
How to Enable / Disable Crossplay in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam
Click on the Enlist button in the main menu. Now, open the Server Type filter on the right side of the screen. Here, you can filter the server list based on your crossplay preference. The "Console + PC" option is available on all platforms, but on Consoles, you will have a "Console Only" option as well. For PC users, the second option is "PC Only".
If you want to host a community server, you will get the option to choose whether to turn crossplay on or off for your server. Currently, the majority of official servers have crossplay enabled. So, if you want console-only or PC-only servers, you will have to join community servers. There is no difference in the amount of XP gained from community or official servers. However, some community servers may have special rules to follow, like talking in a specific language.
