Came across this rare photograph of the dev team behind gta3.
This would have been taken in 2000/2001 in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Mike Dailly @mdf200 wrote a prototype for the engine for gta1. It was isometric and looked somewhat like this.

Yeah, Keith did actually start doing a game with the first one, taking it into Hires. But it was slow as it was using paged SVGA rendering so just wasn't that great. There was even a design doc for it, closer to GTA 2 with gangs etc...

As a marketing strategy R* is trying to keep the game under wraps longer than other publishers. All that has happened is that some footage has escaped. Slightly ahead of the Netflix thing next week.
