Megabonk is basically a love letter to mayhem, and it doesn’t ask politely. It throws hordes of creatures and power-ups at you from the second you hit play. On the surface, it seems simple: grab XP and level up. But anyone who’s survived more than a few waves knows it’s not that easy. Keeping mobile and choosing the right buffs can mean the difference between feeling like a god and getting utterly annihilated by a mob.

Between snagging magnets and avoiding oops moments, there’s a lot to juggle. This guide will help you stay alive longer and start building those absurd, hilarious combos that make Megabonk so ridiculously fun. These are our beginner tips.

Don’t Neglect HP And Lifesteal

One of the easiest traps for new players is putting all their upgrades into weapons and damage while ignoring survivability. Early on, dodging is simple, and it feels like you don’t need much health, but later waves quickly prove otherwise. Investing in HP or lifesteal becomes critical when the screen fills with enemies. It gives you more room for mistakes and helps you stay in the fight longer.

Make Circular Patterns In Movement

As you defeat creatures, they drop XP orbs, and the way you move through fights matters almost as much as what you pick up. By circling around groups of enemies, you can avoid getting pinned while smoothly sweeping up XP, which speeds your leveling and increases your chances of getting stronger buffs.

Circular movement also helps you kite larger foes into safer zones and keeps your back clear for quick pickups, so try to weave gentle loops instead of running straight through crowds.

Think of your circle like a vacuum. Widen it slightly when XP orbs are scattered, and tighten it up when enemies are closing in. This way you keep gaining power without wasting time.

Avoid The Sus Bush

Exploration can also lead you into trouble. Most interactable objects around the map are worth investigating, but if you spot a 'Sus Bush,' resist the urge to shake it. Unlike other features, this one hides a boss that is extremely high-level and deals massive damage. It can be completely avoided, so unless you’re intentionally looking for a challenge late in a run, leave the bush alone.

If you accidentally trigger the Sus Bush, don’t try to fight it underleveled. Kite it away by disengaging, and get back to farming safer enemies until you’re much stronger.

Once you feel confident in your run abilities, it is worth it to fight the Bush since it unlocks a new character.

Be Careful Of Fall Damage

Movement is a huge part of survival, but don’t rely on shortcuts. Jumping off a cliff to escape a horde might seem smart, but Megabonk includes punishing fall damage that can take you out faster than the creatures. Instead, keep moving strategically in circular patterns.

Focus On Attack Speed

When it comes to upgrades, attack speed is king. While raw damage boosts are nice, later waves swarm you with so many enemies that faster weapon swings or shots make a much bigger difference. Combine attack speed upgrades with smart use of buffs you find on the ground.

Always Grab Magnets

Magnets are especially valuable; always grab them when they appear, since they pull in large clusters of XP from across the map, especially from bosses. That sudden boost in levels can change the entire direction of your run and give you a massive advantage in later waves.

Open Chests Regularly

Outside of combat, don’t forget to use the coins you earn to open chests. It’s easy to get caught up in the action and ignore them, but chests contain valuable gear and buffs that make your builds much stronger. Continue to open them as you explore to maximize your growth.

Keep Moving And Explore New Areas

Staying in one spot too long is a mistake. Not only will creatures eventually overwhelm you, but you’ll also miss out on chests, loot, and other discoveries in new zones. Keep moving forward, sweeping through different areas to make sure you’re always collecting resources and staying ahead of the swarm.
