One of the standout characters in Gears 5 is your trusty robot sidekick Jack, who has various abilities that help you in and out of combat. The problem is, you need to find components to make these abilities more effective. These components can be tricky to find and easy to miss. Fortunately, with these guides, you can locate each component in the game as you progress through the story.
This guide will focus on the first act of Gears 5, in which there are a total of 16 components to find. Some key pieces of advice for find components are to keep your eye out for yellow. The reason being that components are yellow and are occasionally in yellow boxes. Additionally, you cannot reach every collectible and will have to direct Jack to pick them up by aiming at the component and selecting it with the X button.
Chapter 1
There are no components in the first chapter of act one. So you can rest easy for this part.
Chapter 2
Baird's Lab
This component is a story-related objective and therefore unmissable. It is in Baird’s lab. Collecting this component will give you the flash freeze ability for jack.
Armory
This component is in the armory, which is accessible right after you complete the jack tutorial. The armory is across from the training area where Fahz fights with you.
Locker Room
This component is very close to the last one. You have found this component in the locker area in the armory.
Chapter 3
Checkboard Office
At the beginning of this chapter, start to look for a room with a checkerboard tile floor. On a desk in that room will be another component.
Office With A View
Proceed through the level, and go through the first small firefight. Keep going until you come to an office space where the walls are missing. The component here will be on a desk by a computer.
Below The Stairs
You will find the next three-pack component after the sequence where the helicopter flies over. When you go through the doors into the next building, go down the stairs and immediately turn right. The components will be behind a yellow box panel.
Bathroom
Keep going through the level until you get to the room with a bunch of survivors hiding. The large room where they are hiding has a bathroom nearby. Go in there and find the next component on the laundry machine.
Across The Bridge
After a firefight, and after you break through the gate, you will start a cutscene. Once the cutscene is over, head to the area on your left and look for a destroyed bridge. Once you get close to the bridge, you will see the next collectible. Aim at the collectible and send jack to pick it up.
Going Shopping
Keep going down the story path until you come across a shopping plaza. Jump through the window of the first building on your left, and you will find a yellow box on the wall with a component in it.
Chapter 4
Cafe
After the mini-boss battle, you will begin chapter 4. At the start of the chapter, head to the cafe on the left-hand side of the street. The cafe has blue umbrella tables. The component is inside behind the counter.
Stim Upgrade
The next component is an unmissable story objective and unlocks Jack’s stim upgrade.
The Blooming Wilds
Before you cross into the next area, head right towards a building called The Blooming Wilds. The front door area is on fire, so use your stim to pass through it. The component is on a counter inside.
Hotel Service Entrance
Once you open the garage door to get into the hotel, walk around the shelving units to the other garage door. Open that door too, and you will find the next component on the back of a truck.
Hotel Laundry Room
Shortly after you enter the hotel through the garage, you will come across a laundry room. The components are in a yellow box on the wall in the back of the room.
Dressing Room Storage
Once you make your way into the theatre and walk into the dressing rooms, look for a storage room near a rack of hanging shirts. Use Jack to pick up the hidden component in that room.
Stage Electrical Room
After the stage fight, continue down the story path. Once you are in the hallway after you exit the auditorium, look for the electrical room. Inside the electrical room, the component is in a yellow box on the wall.
