Ifrit (イフリート, Ifrit) is a summon from the Final Fantasy series.

Origin[edit]

Ifrit in Final Fantasy VII

Ifrit is one of the series's most prominent and frequently-recurring summonable entities, introduced alongside the Summon ability in Final Fantasy III. He is often one of the first summons acquired within gameplay, always associated with the Fire element, and typically is depicted alongside or as a direct counterpart to the ice summon Shiva. His signature attack, Hellfire, deals fire damage to all enemies. In the original Final Fantasy VII, Ifrit's Summon Materia is found on the Cargo Ship after defeating Jenova∙BIRTH, though he is permanently missable if not acquired.

Ifrit's appearance in the Midgar stage is based on his Final Fantasy VII summoning sequence, where he coats himself in flames and throws himself at the enemies like a meteor. His design, however, is based on his bestial, lion-like incarnation seen in Final Fantasy VIII.

In Super Smash Bros. 4[edit]

Ifrit in Smash 4

As a stage element[edit]

Ifrit appears as one of the summons on Midgar. Once summoned, he appears in the background, then coats himself in flames and flies away. Afterwards, a large pillar of flame appears from under the stage or one of its sides, moving or tilting it. Contact with the flame deals damage, except to the summoner.

Other[edit]

Ifrit also appears as a Profile icon, unlocked with Cloud and Midgar.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

As a stage element[edit]

Ifrit once again appears as a summon on Midgar, serving the same exact role that it did in Smash 4.

As a spirit[edit]

Ifrit also appears as an Ace-class primary spirit in the Final Fantasy DLC Spirit Board.

Ifrit uses a Giant Bowser puppet fighter and is fought on the Norfair stage's Ω form. During the battle, the floor becomes lava, referencing Ifrit's signature move, Hellfire, which inflicts engulfs the summoner's enemies with fire and inflicts fire damage. Also, Bowser has increased attack power and move speed.
