The launch model has dominated FinPub for over a decade (for good reason). At this past Financial Marketing Summit we saw how one publisher transitioned away from the eternal launch to a live show model that more resembles a hybrid finpub & traditional television model. Yesterday, I had a great conversation with Niklas Freier, President of FinMC, about the operational side of that transition. The eternal launch model can be exhausting on staff and by their nature bring a lot of volatility to revenue (think big hits & bombs). We saw at FMS how this model smoothed out that volatility and delivered more predictable revenue. But it's a big change to day-to-day operations. 😬 "SO, DOES YOUR PLATFORM SCALE?" - EVERY INVESTOR EVER 😬 *YES* Just 4 weeks ago Braiv onboarded a VIP customer who wanted to translate, dub AND deliver their *45 hours* of course videos in *4 additional languages*...and gosh did we deliver! During our recent pivot, we took A LOT of time to improve the architecture of our dubbing pipeline, including ripping out the VMs and going completely server less. Was it worth it? Many may have seen it as completely pointless at the time due to our server load....it was doing just fine. But all it took was ONE MONSTER customer. Not only did our infrastructure scale to meet their needs, but NOT ONE FAILURE over the 180hrs of dubbed audio our systems generated in just 4 weeks. A24 –– yes, the indie studio behind Midsommar, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Marty Supreme, The Florida Project, Moonlight, and some of the best movies in the last decade –– has announced it will be dipping its toes into unscripted television shows, starting with the HBO docuseries Neighbors, which explores neighbors across the country who are at daggers drawn with each other. Another notable future project includes a reality cooking competition based on Netflix’s Overcooked video game. As the studio grows and begins to take on more projects, the low cost yet potentially high profits of unscripted programming could add a cushion of sustainability to A24’s business model.
