For those of you who have a Tonal, Tia is worth checking out. It’s not just bolting an LLM onto our app and replicating what you could do with Claude or ChatGPT. Instead it is informed by our excellent team of performance scientists and your own data — the fusion of which means you will find it to be both personalized and proven. I can generate 100 workouts with one of the LLMs that will be generically plausible, but wrong for me. Tia knows me and knows my limitations. We have more to improve with it and plan to keep investing, but it’s a great launch that I’m excited about!!

Why BEATME? Learning a movement is often based on delayed and incomplete feedback. A coach can observe and explain what went wrong. A recording can be reviewed after the exercise. The person performing the movement can rely on what they felt. Each of these perspectives is valuable, but none provides a complete and objective picture while the movement is still happening. Small differences in timing, coordination or body position may be difficult to notice. Verbal instructions must be translated into physical correction, and by the time feedback arrives, the next repetition may already have begun. This is the problem behind BEATME. The project explores whether movement can be measured and compared in a way that helps a person understand not only that something was performed incorrectly, but also what should be adjusted. The long-term direction includes sports training, movement learning and physiotherapy. BEATME is still at the research and prototyping stage, where the focus is on understanding the problem and building the foundations needed to address it reliably.
