Taurin Lyons posted thisComfort is expensive. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in leadership is that you can’t wait until something is broken to start getting better. The best time to challenge the process is when it’s working. The best time to develop your next leader is before you need them. The best time to raise the standard is when the team is already winning. And the best time to ask What’s Possible?” is when everyone else is saying, “This is good enough.” Growth has a funny way of exposing everything. Weak processes. Gaps in communication. Lack of bench strength. Inconsistent execution. That’s why I’m becoming less interested in whether we can win today and more interested in whether we’re building something that can keep winning as we grow. Winning is great. Building a team that knows how to repeat it is better. Never get comfortable. 🚀 #Leadership #Growth #TeamDevelopment #Accountability #WhatsPossible

Taurin Lyons shared thisConsistency compounds. Four years ago, my best performance in Orangetheory Fitness “Catch Me If You Can” was 2.22 miles. This morning: 2.95 miles. A 33% improvement. The interesting part isn’t the PR. It’s what happened over the last four years. No shortcuts. No magic workout. No overnight transformation. Just showing up. Again and again. Some mornings I felt great. Some mornings I didn’t. But I kept building. Today my goal was 2.8 miles. I settled into 8.6 mph, trusted the pace, and with about 0.15 miles remaining, I increased to 9.0 mph and finished with time left on the clock. The lesson is the same one I see in leadership. The best teams don’t try to win in the first five minutes. They stay disciplined. They execute consistently. They trust the process. And when the moment comes…they finish strong. A huge shoutout to my OrangeTheory crew, especially Christopher R. and Connor Gibson. Having people around you who push you, encourage you, and celebrate your wins makes the journey that much better. Iron sharpens iron. At 51, I’m convinced of one thing: Your ceiling is usually much higher than your current comfort zone. What’s one goal you’ve achieved simply because you refused to quit? #Leadership #GrowthMindset #Consistency #OrangeTheory #WhatsPossible #NeverSettle #PersonalGrowth #WinnersWin

Taurin Lyons shared thisToday’s Thoughts. This week, I accomplished something I hadn’t done in seven years. I set a new personal record in the one-mile run. In 2019, I ran a 6:45 mile. This week, at 50 years old, I ran 6:25. Twenty seconds may not sound like much. But anyone who’s chased a personal best knows that’s an eternity. The interesting part isn’t the time. It’s what it took to get there. Hundreds of workouts. Early mornings. Small improvements. Days when I felt great. Days when I didn’t. But I kept showing up. What made this one even more memorable? Halfway through the mile, my shoe came untied. For a split second, I had a decision to make. Stop… Or keep going. Quitting was never an option. In leadership, business, and life, obstacles rarely show up at a convenient time. The key is to assess the situation, adapt, and keep moving toward your goal. Ironically, when I set my previous personal record seven years ago, I crossed the finish line completely exhausted. This time, even with an untied shoe, I still had more left in the tank. That reminded me of something important. Progress isn’t just about getting faster. It’s about becoming stronger, smarter, and more prepared along the way. I also wasn’t doing it alone. For the past nine years, OrangeTheory has become much more than a workout. It’s become a community. A family. People who challenge me. People who hold me accountable. People who celebrate the wins. People who remind me that we’re all capable of more than we think. The more I think about it, the more I realize the same principles apply to leadership and business. Great teams aren’t built overnight. Great businesses aren’t built overnight. Personal records aren’t broken overnight. Consistency wins. Discipline wins. Accountability wins. The habits you build in your personal life carry over into your professional life. When you’re intentional about growing in both, you become very difficult to stop. A huge thank you to my OrangeTheory family, especially Coach Danielle Gill Orangetheory Fitness , Christopher R. , and Connor Gibson , for being part of this journey. The miles are more enjoyable when you have great people beside you pushing you to become the best version of yourself. Whether you’re building a business, developing leaders, or chasing a personal goal, the process is the same. Assess the situation. Adapt. Keep moving. Finish what you started. That’s how you start to see What’s Possible. What’s one personal goal you’re chasing right now? #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #Discipline #OrangeTheory #GrowthMindset #WhatsPossible #Consistency #NeverSettle

Taurin Lyons posted thisToday’s Thoughts. People spend a lot of time chasing motivation. I’ve found it’s much more powerful to build momentum. Motivation comes and goes. Momentum is created through small wins. One great customer interaction. One leader developed. One difficult conversation handled well. One process improved. One commitment kept. None of those moments seem life-changing on their own. But stack enough of them together, and they completely change the trajectory of a team. That’s what winning cultures understand. They don’t wait for perfect conditions. They celebrate progress. They build confidence through consistent execution. As leaders, one of our greatest responsibilities is helping our teams recognize momentum before they recognize results. Because when people start believing they’re making progress, they naturally raise their expectations of themselves. That’s when good teams become great teams. And that’s how you start to see What’s Possible. Curious from other leaders: What’s one small habit that’s created big momentum for your team? #Leadership #TeamDevelopment #Culture #PeopleFirst #WhatsPossible

Taurin Lyons reacted on thisTaurin Lyons reacted on thisWhat would you do differently if you could build your cannabis company all over again? For Jared Maloof, CEO of Standard Wellness, one answer came quickly: focus on retail sooner. When Standard Wellness was getting started, cultivation and manufacturing licenses were the big prize. But as the industry evolved, so did the lesson: great products only get you so far if you don’t have enough places to sell them. On the newest episode of the Talent in Cannabis Podcast, Jared joins David Belsky to look back at nearly a decade of building in cannabis and the lessons that came with it, including financial discipline, building the right leadership team, developing people from within, and what job seekers and entrepreneurs should understand before jumping into the industry. 🎙️ Jared Maloof of Standard Wellness is out now. Taurin Lyons reacted on thisTaurin Lyons reacted on thisThis past January, my wife and I made a commitment to change our health for the better. Not a New Year’s resolution but a lifestyle change. What started as a fun challenge to run our first 5k in April, turned into us catching the running bug! I appreciate that we hold ourselves accountable and we are each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Now as I approach 40 and have lost 40 lbs in the process, I want to prove not only to my family, my team but myself that this isn’t the finish line but just the beginning of something bigger. With the help of Runna my goal will be to run a 50k before I turn 41. Come follow my journey on Strava https://lnkd.in/et5cEbjV

Taurin Lyons reacted on thisTaurin Lyons reacted on thisOne year ago, I joined CULTA not knowing what the year would hold. Today, I'm celebrating that anniversary as well as some big news: I've been promoted to Chief People Officer, expanding my role to include HR and people operations on top of marketing, retail, and chief of staff. I'm looking forward to building something at CULTA that our people are proud to be part of. This new chapter also brought a new adventure for my family — we just packed up and moved across the country from Phoenix to Maryland to make it happen. New state, new role, new home. It's a lot of change at once, but the kind we're excited about. I'm grateful for the trust placed in me to help shape not just where this company is headed, but how we take care of the people building it with me. And I get to do it alongside the best team in the industry — that's what makes this role, and this year, feel so worth it. Here's to the last year, the leap across the country, and everything CULTA has ahead!

Taurin Lyons liked thisTaurin Lyons liked thisYour employees don't need a perfect leader. They need a leader who shows up. Someone who will coach them when they're struggling. Recognize them when they're succeeding. Challenge them when they can do more. Stand beside them when things get difficult. And trust them enough to give them responsibility. I've learned that great retail results start with great people leadership. Sales numbers matter. KPIs matter. Profitability matters. But behind every great number is a team of people making it happen. Develop your people. Take care of your customers. Know your business. Lead by example. That's the kind of leadership I believe creates lasting results. “I am thrilled to recommend Taurin Lyons, who I had the pleasure of working with at Green Thumb Industries. Taurin's business acumen is truly unparalleled, making him an invaluable asset to any team. From day one, it was clear that Taurin operates at a level far beyond his title. He consistently leads initiatives that demonstrate his strategic vision and operational expertise, often functioning in a capacity two levels above his role. His ability to navigate complex challenges with grace and insight sets him apart in an ever-evolving industry. What impresses me most about Taurin is his exceptional analytical mindset. He has an uncanny ability to identify opportunities for growth and improvement, often before others even recognize them. His innovative approach has not only driven significant results for the organization but has also inspired those around him to think creatively and strive for excellence. Taurin is also a natural mentor, always eager to share his knowledge and support his colleagues. He fosters a collaborative environment that encourages team members to excel and grow.
