Steve Daly shared thisJust sat down with CIO Times for a long-form profile. Thirty-five years across consulting, media, startups, and government. Every technology wave looks different on the outside and demands the same skill underneath: helping organizations see where things are heading before it's obvious. A few of the points I hoped would land — and did. AI initiatives don't fail because the tech is hard. They fail because "AI is cool" doesn't survive the next budget cycle. Define what success looks like before anyone writes code. The Microsoft Solution Provider trust stack is three layers — technical depth, business acumen, honest guidance. Most providers nail two. The third is what compounds over a decade. Fabric is the most undervalued piece of the Microsoft AI stack right now. The providers who build real expertise there will look prescient in twelve months. Governance has moved from "nice to have" to "show me your framework or we're not buying." Boards are asking. Regulators are watching. Don't be the team scrambling. The investment is the number that determines whether you get value or get a line item nobody can justify at renewal. Here’s what the $30 doesn’t include: → Integration work to connect Copilot to your actual workflows → Governance framework so data doesn’t route outside your tenant → Change management so people use it instead of ignoring it → Measurement infrastructure so you know if it’s working → Ongoing optimization so it gets better, not stale 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹-𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝟯-𝟱𝘅 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲. For the past two years I have enjoyed serving as a fractional CMO. I thought that would be how I spent the rest of my career. But, sometimes an opportunity comes along that can't be ignored. Almost a year ago, Greg Callahan texted me and said he wanted to introduce me to Waheed Choudhry of New Era, who needed some fractional assistance. After connecting with Waheed, who I liked immediately, I started working to help the company with their SKO and overall messaging. Seeing the value being created by New Era for their clients, and the lack of visibility of the brand, made my marketer's heart beat faster. Getting to know Waheed, CEO Dave Hart, and the full team convinced me this was a unique company and genuine opportunity to build a next generation marketing engine. Jackie Edwards and the rest of the marketing team were welcoming and eager to engage. When Dave and Waheed asked me if I would consider joining full-time, the answer was a resounding "yes!". To my colleagues at TechCXO, I want to thank you for everything. I believe deeply in the fractional model and see many companies waking up to the value it can deliver. As the market evolves, finding the right talent -- fractional or full-time -- should always be the priority.
