Ryan Scott reposted thisRyan Scott reposted thisToday, PrismML is emerging from stealth. We are an AI lab with Caltech origins centered on building the most concentrated form of intelligence. At PrismML, we believe that the next major leaps in AI will be driven by order-of-magnitude improvements in intelligence density, not just sheer parameter count. Our first proof point is 1-bit Bonsai 8B, a 1-bit model that fits into 1.15 GBs of memory and delivers over 10x the intelligence density of its full-precision counterparts. It is 14x smaller, 8x faster, and 5x more energy efficient on edge hardware while remaining competitive with other models in its parameter-class. We are open-sourcing the model under the Apache 2.0 license, along with 1-bit Bonsai 4B and 1.7B. When advanced models become small, fast, and efficient enough to run locally, the design space for AI changes immediately. We believe in a future of on-device agents, real-time robotics, offline intelligence, and entirely new products that were previously impossible. This is the future we’re building toward. We’re fortunate to be backed by Khosla Ventures, Cerberus Ventures, Caltech, and supported by Google.

This journey is extremely personal to me. I spent 8 years scaling Discord and got burnt out because modern work is broken. We’re overwhelmed with too much info, most of it low signal noise, and it gets worse the larger the org. AI sped this up, and existing tools just added more places to prompt. We’re on a mission to fix this by doing the busywork for you. We’re building AI that you don’t have to ask, because it already knows what to do. An AI that watches you work on your screen, in meetings, and between apps, connects the dots across your team, highlights what matters, and drafts actions before you ask. Meet Highlight: A shared intelligence layer that knows your team and handles the noise. The company is attempting to collapse three major categories of finance software into a single platform: • standalone expense management • AP and bill pay platforms • travel and expense systems If successful, the ripple effects extend to incumbents such as SAP, Oracle, and even parts of the banking stack. For years, companies built finance infrastructure piece by piece. One vendor managed corporate cards and expenses, another handled accounts payable, another managed travel, and procurement often lived in a separate system. The ERP, usually SAP or Oracle, acted as the system of record that tied these workflows together. Ramp is building a different architecture by absorbing the workflows that surround business spend. Cards and expense were the entry point, followed by bill pay, procurement, treasury, and accounting automation. Recent acquisitions accelerate that strategy. Billhop provides cross-border payments infrastructure and regulatory access in Europe, strengthening the global payables layer. Juno expands travel capabilities, particularly in complex categories such as candidate, contractor, and event travel. Each additional workflow increases switching costs and expands the dataset Ramp’s AI can use to understand how companies spend money. Controlling more of the spend lifecycle allows the platform to automate financial decisions including approvals, policy enforcement, payment routing, and reconciliation. If Ramp executes, it will not only compete with Expensify, Emburse, Navan, and Bill. It will also place pressure on Coupa in procurement and SAP Concur in travel and expense, while pushing banks and card networks further down the stack as financial infrastructure. Ramp is unlikely to replace the ERP, but it could shift the center of gravity in finance operations away from the ERP and toward an AI-native operating layer that sits upstream of trillions in business spend. Ramp’s M&A wave is just starting…

Tender offers are still relatively uncommon in private tech companies. In the traditional model, employees take on years of risk with no liquidity until an IPO or acquisition. While startups often require long time horizons to see financial returns, we felt it was important to create an opportunity for liquidity at this stage of our journey. Alongside our recent $250M Series D, this tender gives some members of our team the opportunity to benefit from the value they’ve created while tackling some of the hardest problems in AI, including model training and fine-tuning. Thank you to the investors who led the round and most of all to the team building Decagon every day. We’re here for the long term, and we hope to find ways to reward people along the way. Onward.

This is one of my favorite columns to read…so honestly? I am shook to be the subject. I spent six years as Editor-in-Chief of Women's Health pouring everything into our mission around strength, empowerment, and reframing what fitness means for women. A little over a year into this next chapter, I'm still doing all of that—just on my own terms. Now, I’m pouring my heart into my wellness-focused Substack newsletter, Best Case Scenario. I’m producing and hosting my own YouTube show “Lifting with Liz.” And I’m consulting for several wellness brands, like GORUCK and Canyon Ranch. All while balancing life as a mom of 3. So here’s what a day in my new life actually looks like: early mornings writing at the kitchen counter, deadlifts at the YMCA, shoot days and press events and meetings in Manhattan, leading the newspaper club at my fifth grader’s school in Park Slope, and a tinned fish wrap for lunch that is *chef’s kiss*. 🤌 I love the flexibility of this new life. And yet I always remember my mantra for 2026: “Is there a softer, gentler way?” I try to keep that in mind before I say yes to anything, to take a pause before immediately responding, and really have a think about future Liz. If you’re in a season of reinvention, or just curious what it looks like to bet on yourself (especially in this evolving media landscape), I hope this resonates 💪. What’s your day look like?
