Patrick McLean posted thisAfter three rewarding years as a board member, I am rolling off the American Cancer Society Illinois Board of Directors as my term comes to an end. It has been an honor to work alongside dedicated leaders to advance the fight against cancer in the Midwest. I extend my gratitude to Carlos Cata, Michael Ziener, MNA, and Jody Phillips for their support and friendship. While my time on the Illinois board is concluding, the American Cancer Society vision remains close to my heart: "End cancer as we know it, for everyone." I am excited to announce that as I relocate to Oklahoma City, I will be joining the American Cancer Society Oklahoma Board! As many of you know, I joined Love's Travel Stops as Chief Marketing Officer almost a year ago, based in OKC, and have been commuting from Chicago. With my son graduating high school this year and heading to college this summer, this move is particularly exciting. Oklahoma City is a thriving and growing city with much to offer. I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome from the Oklahoma ACS team, especially Rachel Stratton. I look forward to diving into this new chapter in service to the community through my association with ACS.

The launch of Team OKC 2028 earlier this week represents an incredible opportunity to showcase our city on a global stage, and it will take collaboration across our community to make the most of this historic moment. I’m proud that LoudCity Partnerships, a division of the Oklahoma City Thunder, will be part of that collective effort, as our group was hired to work alongside Team OKC and community leaders to bring meaningful corporate partnership opportunities to market that support the vision for 2028. Thank you Michael Byrnes for your trust and for your work and leadership of this generational opportunity for the city. Through LoudCity Partnerships, we’ve seen what’s possible when organizations come together around a shared purpose. We’re excited to bring that experience to this effort and collaborate with partners across our city to create an impact that extends well beyond the Games. Proud of the momentum already underway and excited for what we can accomplish together. Let’s go, OKC! 🌎🏅 #TeamOKC #LA28 #LoudCityPartnerships #OklahomaCity

Patrick McLean liked thisPatrick McLean liked thisLast Friday, I wrapped up my summer internship with the COO Group at RBC Capital Markets! Over the past few months, I learned a lot about the role of Lending Services in Capital Markets, by supporting the Agency Admin Team with back-end operations behind syndicated loan deals. I also had the opportunity to map end-to-end processes for my team, create tactical solutions for operational bottlenecks and present my ideas to senior management. This experience would not have been possible without the support of my manager Byron Li, MBA, FRM, PMP, ITIL, and team lead Carolina Torres. I also want to thank my mentors across RBC whose guidance, trust and support have been crucial to my professional development over the summer. I also want to give a special thanks to the summer students I worked with! It was a pleasure to be part of such a great group & I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Patrick McLean liked thisPatrick McLean liked thisWell here goes. This week marks the end of my amazing 16.5 years at TD as I officially retire! When I joined the Corporate Marketing team back in 2010, I had no idea what to expect or where it would take me. Now in 2026, it's easy to sum up my time at TD since I've been so fortunate to work with so many tremendous colleagues and agency partners in Canada and the US! I can't cite everything, but it sums up nicely that I've learned many things, helped lead some terrific work, had great fun and made lasting friendships. You can't ask for more than that! Special shout out to the amazing people managers I've had while at TD - Sharon Wiley, Tom Diavolitsis, Michael Armstrong and Mike Letsche. Thank you for your support, advocacy and guidance! To the many team members I had the privilege to lead, coach and mentor over the years - thank you. Our conversations represent the many highlights of my career at TD. To the many, many Marketing colleagues I have worked with over the years and Business partners I have supported across the Enterprise, thank you for the partnership and tolerating my goofiness and tangential anecdotes. I hope you all saw my passion for Marketing and Wealth. So what happens next? Well I started working way back in 1993 so I'm very much ready to "retire" - whatever that means - and I'm excited to figure that out. Cheers S

It’s the most wonderfully expensive time of the year. Holiday spending in 2025 is telling us something loud and clear: shoppers are stretching dollars, not stockings. 🎄 I had the pleasure of speaking with Sandra Fiedler Viktorova at WGCU/NPR about two of my favorite topics — retail trends and consumer sentiment. 🛍️ Value-seeking behavior is no longer just a bargain-hunter thing. Middle income households, Millennials, and Gen Z are tightening budgets too. Yes, total spending is projected to rise thanks to Boomers and high-net-worth consumers, but actual volume? Down. 📉 A recent consumer survey by Shopkick by Trax revealed some staggering insights: • 83% of shoppers expected and noticed higher prices across popular gift categories • 54% are changing holiday shopping plans due to price increases • 35% plan to buy fewer gifts • 90% plan to shop on Amazon • 84% will head to big-box stores like Walmart or Target The message is clear: value beats volume, and consumers are cautious. 🧐 Curious what else we uncovered in what could be a $1 trillion-plus holiday season? Check it out below and let me know what you think! 👇 cc: Trax Retail #retail #consumerinsights #spendingtrends #holidayspending #retailtechnology #shopperengagement

FYI: Walmart’s retail media business continues to grow at a higher rate than the retail media market at large, outpacing the retailer’s sales growth (Marketing Dive): Chris Kelly, Senior Reporter. Retail media is forecast to grow about 20% in 2025, according to eMarketer, as advertisers increasingly rely on the channel to tap into retailers’ store of first-party data and reach consumers closer to the point of sale. Walmart Connect continues to grow at a higher rate than the retail media market […] #DOOH #retailmedianetworks #digitalsignage

I’ve always believed loyalty programs were an untapped resource in retail media. But Albertsons just showed us that they are getting...tapped into. By turning “for U Travel” into a data-powered rewards engine, they’ve built something rare - a loyalty flywheel that funds itself. Every point earned becomes a data signal. Every signal fuels media value. Every media dollar powers new rewards. It's a real mindset shift. Loyalty isn’t a cost center anymore; it’s a growth engine. What’s even more interesting is how Albertsons is using that data. When a family books a trip through “for U Travel,” it’s not just a travel purchase - it’s a behavioral trigger. It signals intent, timing, and context - opening precision opportunities for categories like credit cards, insurance, or travel upgrades at the exact life moment that matters. That’s the real future of retail media: understanding why customers act, not just what they buy. If loyalty becomes the power grid for this new media economy… the brands that master these flywheels will own the customer relationship - end to end. Curious how others are thinking about this evolution. Is loyalty the next frontier of retail data, or the ultimate convergence of media and customer experience? #RetailMedia #LoyaltyMarketing #CommerceMedia #AdTech #AIinmarketing

Retail media isn’t new. For decades, retailers have leveraged co-op dollars and vendor participation to offset costs or monetize retail-based activations. What is new is the acceleration of digital deployment inside and outside the store. With the increased saturation of storefront signage, in-aisle displays, smart fixtures, and point-of-influence touchpoints, retailers suddenly have something they’ve never had at scale: abundant, high-value inventory in the physical world. And unlike the static retail environments of the past, today’s stores are fluid. Pop-up formats, fast fashion cycles, short-term activations, rapid resets, seasonal transitions, and constantly shifting planograms have made retail spaces far more dynamic. This is a relatively new phenomenon, and it is driving an increasing need for digital solutions that can adapt, update, and reconfigure as quickly as the physical environment around them. The interest is real. The budgets are shifting. And the opportunity is massive. But here’s the truth most overlook: Retail media will not be won by generic hardware or one-size-fits-all digital screens. Every retail environment is unique. Every category behaves differently. Every shopper journey is distinct. In my experience, the retailers and partners seeing the biggest lift are those willing to design, engineer, and deploy tailored solutions that integrate seamlessly into their physical environments. Form factor matters. Placement matters. Flexibility matters. This is where we’ve chosen to focus our energy. By leveraging our patented and proprietary platforms, and by co-developing purpose-built solutions with our network of elite AV integrators and channel partners, we see a blue-ocean opportunity emerging. Not incremental improvement; a step-change in how brands influence shoppers at the exact moment of decision. Those who partner with us differentiate themselves and win. Those who rely on commodity hardware blend in with everyone else. Retail media is not just another trend. It is a fundamental shift in how value is created inside the store. And the companies that embrace customization, engineering rigor, and strategic placement will define this next chapter. More to come.

Only 50% of CMOs are involved in strategic planning. (McKinsey, 2024) That stat is one symptom of a bigger problem. McKinsey’s latest research confirmed what I’ve seen in every company I scale: → Exec teams ballooned (adding CROs, CDOs, CGOs), fragmenting the customer even more. → CEOs say marketing should drive revenue and margin, but most CMOs still report clicks and brand scores. → Growth gets split across too many seats — and when everyone owns it, no one does. → Companies with a single customer/growth owner deliver up to 2.3× more growth than those with multiple roles. So what’s the real lesson? 👉 Growth isn’t a siloed marketing task. 👉 Growth is a company-wide operating model, and it needs a leader at its helm Marketing plays a central role — but it only becomes growth when: 1️⃣ The CMO has a seat at the strategy table, not just the ad budget. 2️⃣ Finance and marketing speak the same language (CAC, payback, LTV, margin). 3️⃣ The CMO acts like a general manager of customer metrics (customer-centric growth) The gap between CEOs and CMOs isn’t about metrics. It’s about who owns the customer and how the system aligns around that. If you want the full McKinsey piece, it’s here: https://lnkd.in/eAWbyRu3 * * * → I spent 25 years translating marketing metrics into board language. Now I'm sharing the exact slides and frameworks that get CMOs and CFOs aligned. Get them here for free: https://bit.ly/4qkLEuE
