Paul Duke reposted thisPaul Duke reposted thisHealth Warning to All Hiring Employers going into 2025 alone. Here’s what you can expect to endure after hiring Goodwin. 🔍 Too Many Perfect Candidates: Be prepared for us to send you highly qualified candidates way too fast. You might even have to make decisions sooner than expected. Tragic. 📈 Painful Growth: Our candidates are likely to boost your team’s productivity and hit targets. Ugh, more success to manage. 🧠 Excessive Expertise: Our recruiters know the industry a little too well. You’ll have to deal with strategic advice and market insights you didn’t ask for—but desperately need. 🤝 Annoying Long-Term Relationships: We might keep in touch after filling your role to see how things are going. Accountability can be so overrated. 💸 Budgetary Distress: You might even save too much money by hiring quickly and reducing downtime. Watch out—CFOs hate this one trick! Consider this your official heads-up. If excessive hiring success and unwelcome business growth sound like your kind of nightmare… you know where to find us. 😉 #HiringHelp #GoodwinRecruiters #SuccessfulProblems #RecruitingDoneRight

Our future is yet to be written, but wow the possibilities. Never regret or be ashamed of your past, especially when the results are as amazing as they are. My managers, and myself, love sharing our journey with our team. The look on their faces when they realized we all didn't have an easy path, priceless. The past has made me grateful.

Paul Duke reacted on thisPaul Duke reacted on thisEveryone at Darden is saddened by the recent passing of Joe Lee, our first CEO. Joe was an influential leader and voice that helped build and grow the casual dining segment. But most of all, he was a kind-hearted gentleman. To fully understand where our company is today, we need to look back on how Joe changed the face of casual dining and how he impacted our company. Today, Darden Restaurants features 10 of the most recognizable and successful brands in full-service dining. We operate more than 2,100 restaurants, employ 200,000 people and serve more than 440 million guests a year. None of this success would have been possible without the vision and tireless efforts of Joe, who started his career in 1968 as a manager at a new restaurant called Red Lobster in Lakeland, Florida, owned by Bill Darden. Over the next three decades, Joe was instrumental in creating a new casual dining category for his guests and leading the company to new heights each year. Joe was an innovator and a true restaurant entrepreneur, but his passion was always about his people. His people were at the heart of everything he did and were at the core of any decision he made. The announcement of Joe’s passing has left a hole in the hearts of all who knew him and respected him. We’ll always be indebted to Joe for his dedication and innovation, and we honor the memory of his lasting legacy.

Creative leadership isn't taught in textbooks. It's developed through real challenges with real stakes. Our culinary graduate Melissa discovered this working directly with Nashville restaurant professionals. That's the difference between workforce preparation and leadership development. We don't just make you employable; we make you indispensable. Our working professional faculty bring current industry practices directly into small, personalized cohorts. Every student receives individual mentorship because every creative leader's path is unique. Melissa's restaurant hire happened because Nashville's creative professionals saw her leadership potential in action, not just on paper. This is how creative careers actually develop: through guided real-world experience that proves your value immediately.

👨🍳 What Makes a Hospitality Team Thrive The best restaurant teams aren’t just thrown together—they’re built, nurtured, and led. Here’s what separates the good from the great: 1️⃣ Clear Structure Training is consistent, schedules are fair, and wins (big or small) get recognized. 2️⃣ Growth Paths There’s room to move up, across, or mentor others—so staff don’t have to look elsewhere to grow. 3️⃣ Respectful Culture Drama is addressed, hard work is valued, and people have each other’s backs—especially during the rush. And as leaders, we have to earn it. Here’s how: 1️⃣ Show up Own your role, the expectations, and the example you’re setting—even in the dish pit. 2️⃣ Communicate No surprises, no cliques, and no room for passive aggression. 3️⃣ Create ownership Let your staff run projects, train others, and shape their own success. — Brandon Payne 📩 brandon@geckohospitality.com

Organization isn’t admin work — it’s mise en place for leadership. In this video, I explain why organization is a core Executive Chef skill, not a productivity tactic. You’ll learn how disorganization quietly creates stress, reaction, and burnout, and how applying mise en place principles to your systems, information, and decisions creates clarity under pressure. This is about organizing so you can lead, decide, and execute calmly — even when the kitchen is moving fast. ⬇️ VIDEO LINK IS IN THE COMMENTS ⬇️

This quote hits hard—and it's one of the most common mistakes I’ve seen in management, especially with newer leaders. Many think their value lies in being the only one who can achieve goals, often surrounding themselves with team members who aren't empowered to contribute at a higher level. But real leadership? It shows when your team thrives without you—because you’ve developed them, trusted them, and set them up for success. When you build others up and prepare them for the next step, your influence grows beyond your own presence. That’s the kind of leadership that lasts. #Leadership #TeamDevelopment #Empowerment #ManagerTips #PeopleFirst #GrowthMindset #LeadByExample

Menu planning isn’t just about recipes. It’s about supply. Chefs plan portions, prep time, and pricing days ahead, but without predictable produce, the entire plan breaks. Sudden shortages or price changes force kitchens to adjust menus, delay service, or absorb extra cost. Reliable sourcing doesn’t just support operations. It protects customer experience. follow for more food business insights 💚🧡 #freshfare #foodbusiness #restaurantsupply #supplychain

Brinker International President & CEO Kevin Hochman tells it like it is. Fast Casual vs. QSR: it’s ON. Chili's #tripledipper menu and hamburbers “dressed like” fast food faves = skyrocketing sales and a giant success story for the industry. The lesson here may be to keep an eye on social channels. The social teams noticed folks posting receipts, complaining about high prices at fast food chains. They took note. And took ACTION.

💡 Staffing & Retention: The Silent Profit Leak in Restaurants Staffing challenges aren’t just an HR issue—they’re a financial one. When turnover is high or key roles go unfilled, the effects show up on your P&L: -Overtime and burnout drive labor costs higher. -Training new staff slows service and increases errors. -Morale dips, leading to inconsistent guest experiences and even more turnover. -Managers spend valuable time hiring and training instead of improving operations. For many independent restaurants, the true cost of retention issues isn’t always obvious until profits start to slip. Beyond pay raises and bonuses, there are other powerful ways to keep great people: mentorship, clear communication, recognition, and flexibility all go a long way in building loyalty. 👉 What are your top ways to retain good staff—besides money? 💬 And is there anyone you follow on LinkedIn for great ideas on retention or leadership? #RestaurantOwners #IndependentRestaurants #HospitalityIndustry #StaffingAndRetention #RestaurantProfitability #RASforRestaurants

Leadership is not a promotion. It’s a responsibility. And the real question isn’t whether you hold the title. It is are people rising around you? Most of us earned our leadership roles because we were strong operators. We executed. We delivered. We were dependable. Results followed. That competence matters. It builds credibility. But when you step into leadership, the job changes — whether anyone formally teaches you that or not. You’re no longer measured only by what you produce. You’re measured by what the people around you become. That shift is where many leaders struggle. If we’re not intentional, we default to what got us here: Fixing instead of teaching. Directing instead of developing. Controlling outcomes instead of building capability. Those instincts come from pride in our standards. I understand that. In hospitality, standards are everything. But leadership asks something deeper. Can you see potential before it’s fully formed? Can you create accountability without stripping dignity? Can you push performance and still build confidence? Can you put someone in a position to succeed — even if they’ll one day surpass you? In our business, the guest experience will never exceed the internal culture. If our people are not growing, the brand will eventually plateau. Leadership is not about being the best performer in the room. It’s about building a room where others perform at their best. That requires patience. It requires humility. It requires the discipline to invest time in development when it would be faster to just do it yourself. Are you in leadership? Are people stronger because they work with you? If the answer is yes, the business will take care of itself. And that’s work worth committing to every day.

One lesson that stands out: skill development in the kitchen isn’t about memorizing recipes—it’s about building confidence through real experience. The best chefs don’t just teach technique. They inspire curiosity, encourage mistakes, and celebrate progress, no matter how small. True growth happens when we’re given the space to experiment, ask questions, and learn by doing. In a world obsessed with perfection, maybe the real measure of expertise is how willing we are to keep learning. How do you create environments—at work or at home—where people feel safe to try, fail, and grow? #Leadership #SkillBuilding #CulinaryArts #ContinuousLearning

⚙️ Operations Truth #1: Your Weakest Station Controls Your Speed In QSR, everyone obsesses over: → Faster cooking → Quicker assembly → Speedier service But here's what most miss: **You're only as fast as your SLOWEST station.** This is called **"The Bottleneck."** 🎯 **Example:** Your line: → Grill: 2 min per order ✅ → Assembly: 1 min per order ✅ → Fries: 4 min per batch ❌ ← BOTTLENECK → Dispatch: 30 sec per order ✅ **You can speed up everything else.** **But if fries take 4 minutes, that's your pace.** 💡 **The Fix:** **Step 1:** Identify your bottleneck → Time each station during peak → Find the slowest one **Step 2:** Add capacity to THAT station only → Don't add more grills (not the problem) → Add more fryers or stagger batches **Step 3:** Monitor until a NEW bottleneck appears → Then fix THAT one **Rule:** Never optimize a non-bottleneck. It's wasted effort. **Your question:** What's the bottleneck in YOUR operation? #OperationsExcellence #QSROperations #BottleneckManagement #Efficiency #ProcessImprovement #CapsuleMode #AhmedCapsules #RestaurantOperations #TheGoal

Why Restaurant Managers Leave Within 18 Months NY & NJ operators - here’s what’s driving turnover: • No bonus structure clarity • No growth path • Ownership inconsistency • Burnout without support Compensation gets attention. Structure keeps leadership. If retention has been a struggle - it may not be a hiring issue. It may be a leadership design issue. Let’s fix the root, not the symptom. #RestaurantLeadership #EmployeeRetention #RestaurantManagement #LeadershipDevelopment #RestaurantOperators #GeckoHospitality
