Nowell Outlaw shared thisIf you live in the West you can become a little numb to the new normal of fires happening nearby, until it happens to you. The Willow fire started yesterday (Leadville, CO), forcing evacuations where we spend a lot of time. It also makes you give thanks to all the people who rush in to fight the fire. We hiked this exact area the day before - it's extremely dry, you're hiking around at 10.5-11k feet and it's hard to move around. Many towns and places are at extreme risk. If you are thinking about going into the mountains this 4th of July... I'd simply ask that you not bring Fireworks, start a fire, or honestly try something else. Simple things that we don't think about can start these things and resources are already very low. The risk levels in the national forest are simply too high. Not to mention the number of people who were on the Colorado Trail yesterday and had to 'run down' to get out of the path of this fire. The fire danger in Colorado is at all time highs - and it's still June. If you want to think positive thoughts (aka Prayers), do so, there are a lot of people in harms way around the West trying to put these things out - three fire fighters died yesterday.

Nowell Outlaw shared thisSometimes selecting those "team building" activities can be challenging - do we go - go cart racing, become chefs for an hour, square dancing lessons, high adventure ropes course, Axe throwing (really fun), scuba... This week we found something that was different - it's a non profit that builds artificial hands for people that cannot afford them. The kit is 3D printed and you spend an hour or so assembling it. It's very unique, and you're giving back to the world. Video of my teams assembled hand attached. https://lnkd.in/gDw3unYi is where you start your journey. Nowell Outlaw shared thisSometimes the hallucination coming out of LLMs get's really frustrating. Yesterday it was having a problem sorting dates, today it randomly added stuff to a chat. "You're right — sorry for the drift..." - These models are all closing in on 95%+ accuracy - but still drifting, shifting and hallucinating... An interesting page to see based upon different segments. https://lnkd.in/g7H_sH4a

Nowell Outlaw posted thisSitting at a table at an Expedia event with six other people, so of course started a question about how they are using AI. Two were from Panama, two from Mexico, and two from Las Vegas. The folks from Panama are from the tourism board for Panama- their focus getting people to come visit. They were mostly interested in SEO functionality and how to ensure their content was first. Next two were from Mexico Tourism board, same issues - just started using it, didn't really have a point of view. The last two users from Vegas? They use ChatGPT for about everything - one of the women said she uses it to plan her day, organize her calendar, write emails for her and... when she and husband have an arguement they use ChatGPT to settle it... That's a new one! Now they just need an Agent that plans ahead for them, takes in relevant conversations, reads text messages and understands that they will have a fight, can send them messages so they don't and well you now have a three way marriage - husband-wife-chatgpt. Happy Thursday.

Nowell Outlaw shared thisWe've been pushing the utilization of Claude throughout Switchfly for the past several months - largely after really seeing what it can do and educating teams on it's benefits. In the last two weeks I've seen prototypes of detailed analysis in finance, new loyalty ROI tools from our sales team, slick marketing enablement pages, new product requirements, and full blown power point presentations with detailed analysis of customer/program performance. We are starting to see some users take what they see as pure truth, so now having to teach pushing back and really engaging with the LLM, but recognizing that there are faults in analysis and the narratives that it provides. Now opening up hackathon space, fireside chats and more on how it can expand organizationally. The speed and adoption and learning is really amazing to see - we had a sales/marketing session two weeks ago, by Friday a complete (& improved) ROI analysis tool was developed and delivered. You're either moving at speed, or standing still, or more realistically moving backwards if the entire organization isn't adapting. Excited to see where things are in 90 days. #Maythe4thBeWithYou

Nowell Outlaw posted thisThree years ago, I began discussing Claude during an all-hands event, with mixed reactions from our team. Today, it has become an integral part of Switchfly. While working with our team in India this week, I observed that every user is actively utilizing Claude to evaluate data, assist with coding, build presentations, and more. It’s clear that we have fully embraced this tool across the entire organization. In a presentation today, Claude was referenced in nearly every topic, sitting there thinking how we operated before such tools were available. The impact on our engineering velocity is now real throughout the organization. Our embedded integrations with core systems are now mature, allowing us to see actual results happening in real time. Having a front row seat to the technology up-skilling people around the world is pretty fun. #ClaudeInTech

Nowell Outlaw posted thisIt's funny to sit in meetings with clients and talk about AI. Two years ago sitting in the room, no one really knew what you were talking about, now everyone has a point of view - however everyone has the same story on Copilot... "sucks" is the general theme. The other thing that seems to be happening is a lot of micro-ideation- trying multiple things really fast to see what actually works with consumers and where value drivers can be found. Pretty hard to measure when the pace of LLM's is moving so fast as well - the ground is moving under your feet as the same time you're running a marathon. Fun times!

Nowell Outlaw posted thisI have had a couple of fun 'AI' conversations with people this week - largely their point of view was "AI will destroy...". So I had them focus with me on our CRM system. A good quality CRM system (salesforece, Hubspot, etc.) will cost $25-100k/year. That includes the software, services, support, hosting, bug fixes, new product features (usually), etc. The arguement was simply - you'll be able to write your own CRM... My response is pretty easy - first, who will write a CRM? The director of marketing? No I want them to do marketing. So now I have to hire a small team, or find an internal person to 'build a CRM' - using something like Claude. Ok, who's writing requirements? Sales? Ok, stop selling and write product requirements - ok, "do what hubspot does" - sure. Assuming you get this, now you've built your CRM system - and then what? Who will maintain it, host it, etc. Paying $25-50k/year for an end to end solution that's supported, maintained, hosted, etc. easy. Having AI code because it can "cool", but no. I use AI daily, it's great, also has problems - it stumbles, gets into loops, etc. Does it help make decisions Yes. Faster to get things done, yes. Can it make mistakes in the interpretation of what you are saying, yes. It's another tool in the toolbelt - can I put it side-by-side next to my CRM and do amazing things? YES. Will it replace it with a homegrown system? Nope. Back to normally scheduled programming.

Nowell Outlaw liked thisNowell Outlaw liked thisA fun graph presented on last week's weekly trading call at Holibob where one of our partners hit their 12 month review. They've seen some very strong growth in their things-to-do booking numbers and are tapping into the uncaptured experience economy which continues to grow year on year. For travel brands, giving their customers amazing experiences on holiday is rapidly becoming a necessity, rather than a nice to have. It drives customer loyalty and, when all is said and done, the reason people travel!

Nowell Outlaw liked thisShapor, Stanley and David are a new powerhouse in AI analytics - and we’re thrilled to be on the journey with them. Even more fun to be partnering with Stanley for a second time after EvolutionIQ. Huge congratulations to the team on coming out of stealth today!Nowell Outlaw liked thisHaving data isn’t the advantage. Knowing what it means and acting on it is. The data is there but the context is scattered across dashboards, tickets, docs, and conversations. Planning becomes a familiar loop: rebuild the numbers, debate definitions, piece together context, and hope the answer is still current by the time it reaches the exec room. QueryStory is the agentic data platform built around decisions. Ask a business question and get an answer grounded in your data—with sources, definitions, assumptions, and confidence. As your data changes, QueryStory re-checks the answer. My wife has been a shelter volunteer for years, and through her work, I’ve seen a heartbreaking reality: older and larger dogs often get overlooked. While puppies get adopted fast, these gentle, fully trained adult dogs wait in kennels for months—and risk deteriorating in the process. Right now, we’re supporting the Humane Society of Westchester in New Rochelle, NY. We’ve brought two incredible dogs into our home for out-of-shelter visits, walked them, played with them, and can personally vouch for how smart, loving, and family-ready they are: 🐕 Margot – Retriever mix | Sweet, gentle, housebroken, dog friendly, and ready to be a loving companion 🐕 Jojo – German Shepherd / Husky mix | Friendly, smart, dog friendly, great at fetch, and wonderful with people. My allergies are the only thing stopping us from taking them in ourselves! HOW YOU CAN HELP: Adopt: If you or someone you know in/near Westchester County is looking for a loyal companion, please visit https://lnkd.in/g24mg-Yq to sign up for a meet-and-greet. Share / Comment: Even if you aren't in a position to adopt, commenting or reposting this expands the reach so the right person sees it. Nowell Outlaw liked thisNew York Life Ventures is tripling down on Norm Ai as it scales and Norm Law takes off. Norm Law pairs experienced lawyers working on top of Norm's agentic platform with an outcome-based business model tied to client value rather than hours billed -- a new model for delivering legal services. Congrats to John and the entire team!Nowell Outlaw liked thisWe’re excited to announce that Norm Ai has raised a $120 million Series C at a $1.2 billion valuation, led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from Blackstone, Bain Capital Ventures (BCV), Craft Ventures, Coatue Management, Vanguard, New York Life, TIAA, Tony James, Jeff Hammes, and Fenwick LLP. This round reflects the trust Norm Ai has earned from institutions using legal AI for high-stakes legal and regulated work, and the conviction that law will be foundational to how AI is deployed in the enterprise. “AI will not transform regulated work until institutions trust it, and that trust is the hardest thing to earn in this market. The most demanding buyers of legal services in the world already rely on Norm Ai. We led this round because John Nay has built the only credible path to AI-native legal work at institutional scale.” - Samir Kaul, Managing Director at Khosla Ventures Norm Ai is building agentic law, embedding law into AI agents through collaboration among AI engineers, legal engineers, and attorneys. That work supports clients across their in-house legal teams, through Norm Law, LLP, an affiliated AI-native law firm running on the Norm Ai platform, and through supervisory agents for regulated enterprise AI deployments. Clients representing more than $30 trillion in assets under management use Norm Ai for high-stakes work. We’re grateful to our clients, investors, partners, and team as we continue building the full-stack model for legal AI.

Too many startups assume: 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙖 𝘾𝙋𝙏 𝙘𝙤𝙙𝙚 → 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙖 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨. Reality is rarely that linear. Viability tends to unfold in fits and starts, shaped by payer coverage, provider workflows, and the real operational burden behind reliable billing. ⚙️📉 Inspired by Matt Kamen's excellent post on CPT adoption curves & the recent ACCESS discussion, we’re sharing our internal framework: 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 It goes deeper than payment policy — covering clinical and documentation requirements, enrollment and service mechanics, operational readiness, and the maturity of the CPT pathway. 🧠📋 If you’re evaluating a CPT-driven business model — or working with someone who is — comment “𝘾𝙋𝙏” below + DM me & I’ll share the document. 📄➡️ #startups #HealthcarePolicy #HealthTech #CMMI #ACCESSModel #Medicare #DigitalHealth

Platform Strategy & Market Consolidation: How to Build Scale Meaningfully Many savvy investors are moving beyond single agency deals to build platforms in home health & hospice — regional roll-ups, multi-state footprints, service line expansion. The logic: scale drives operational leverage, payer credibility, and acquisition flexibility. Elements of a compelling platform: • Geographic density: build clusters to drive better referral access, clinician nexus and scale efficiencies • Service diversification: combining home health + hospice + palliative care programs can broaden payer appeal • Tech & analytics infrastructure: a modern stack enables referral intelligence, cost control, quality transparency — factors increasing valuation • Clear exit strategy: is the platform carve-out for a strategic acquirer, roll-up to IPO, or hold for cash-flow? Market trends suggest active buyer pools for well-run home-care platforms. If you’re consulting or advising owners: sketch the blueprint for “agency → platform” transformation and show how value multiples expand as scale/structures improve. #platformstrategy #healthcareM&A #homebasedcare #hospice #homehealth #scalingbusiness #hanomihealth

The Signal Every Investor Should Pay Attention To When leading Silicon Valley investors like Vijay Pande (formerly of a16z Bio + Health) and Zack Werner launch a new firm—VZVC—focused exclusively on AI in healthcare, it’s not a coincidence. It’s a signal. A signal that elite capital is doubling down on healthcare AI in 2025, that the market sees real scalability at the intersection of automation, intelligence, and patient impact, and that the next generation of value creation in healthcare will come from AI-enabled efficiency and insight. Mission 3A HealthTech sits precisely at this intersection — where technical innovation meets real-world execution. We believe there is no better investment opportunity than healthcare AI. The sector combines long-term demand stability with massive efficiency gaps — and AI is finally capable of bridging them. As investors chase the next wave, we’re already ahead of it: identifying, validating and investing in these cutting edge companies. We are partnering with surgeons and health systems, and commercializing solutions that drive measurable impact. #HealthcareAI #VentureCapital #Mission3A #DigitalHealth #AI #MedTech #Startups #HealthcareAI #DigitalHealth #MedTech #Mission3A #VentureCapital #AIHealthTech #HealthTechInvesting #ArtificialIntelligence #StartupFunding #FutureOfHealthcare Tempus AI insitro Freenome Stryker PathAI Apple Butterfly Network, Inc. Before you commit to building any component of a telehealth platform, talk to me. I’ve been down that road. A custom build can be a great investment, but only under the right conditions. Too many variables, too little time, and you end up owning tech instead of traction. I’ve rarely seen regret from going to market with a partner first. You gain speed, save cost, and validate your vision. You can always own the stack later once you’ve earned the scale to justify it.
