If you want to sell well, you need one system you run every time. Not five different approaches depending on who’s across the table. I’ve been there. But over 10 years, I’ve refined my own system — and helped clients generate over $35M in revenue. Here’s how to build yours: 1. Study the greats. Some incredible people have already cracked this. Google them, study their techniques, and write down what resonates. Your homework: build a bank of ideas to try. (I’ve included a few of my favorites in the image below — save it for later.) 2. Practice, practice, practice. Pick one technique to focus on for the month. Look for every chance to use it. Bring it into real sales calls and pay attention to how people respond. 3. Don’t be afraid to be bad at it first. Want me to keep going and draft an ending, or tighten this further for a specific platform (LinkedIn post length, etc.)? Record your sales calls to see what went well and what didn't. Study the wins and how you can get more of them. Trial and error is how you get better over time. Knowing when a partner is navigating a reorg and needs you to listen before you pitch the next idea. Having the messy conversation that unexpectedly turns into a great joint campaign. Making an introduction because you know two people should be talking, even if there isn’t an immediate KPI attached to it. Those moments are often where the best partnership work starts. But right now, I’m making a trade-off. While I rethink workflows and figure out where AI can actually make things better, the expectations don’t slow down. We’re still shipping campaigns, responding to partner asks, running events, and keeping everything moving. And too often, those moments of connection are getting missed. SDR managers talk a lot about activity and efficiency. But most teams aren't tracking the metric that matters: held demos per 100 calls. Most SDRs sit between 0.5–1.2 demos held per 100 calls. Good teams find ways to push that to 2–3. Here’s how we help clients do it: • Tighten your call market , go deeper on fewer personas • Ditch the full pitch , sell the conversation, not the whole platform • Measure show rate weekly , optimize scripts and CTAs accordingly • Get fast attribution on held demos , what list, what persona, what trigger More calls is not the answer. 100 smart calls will always beat 500 lazy ones.

SDR leaders, watch for this pattern. New SDR starts. Uses your call framework. Asks simple questions. Pipeline starts flowing. Fast forward 6 months… They know the product inside and out. And oddly enough… their calls get worse. This is called The Curse of Knowledge. A cognitive bias where experts assume everyone else understands what they understand. Suddenly calls sound like this: Feature explanations Product jargon Mini demos on a cold call Instead of: Simple questions Curiosity Conversations about the problem Ironically, knowing too much can hurt discovery. The best SDR coaching moment isn’t teaching reps more about the product. It’s helping them forget it for a minute. And get back to the basics.

Rep uses the same email template for every persona. CFO gets the same pitch as an SDR manager. Reply rates tank. Different buyers respond to different approaches. A technical buyer wants proof and details. An exec wants ROI and speed. Using one framework for all kills conversion. Spray and pray with templates = low reply rates across the board. Advent Calendar Tip 7 (of 12) 🎄🎅 Better: Test different email frameworks by persona • Problem-Agitate-Solution (call out pain, make it urgent, offer fix) • Before-After-Bridge (show current state vs. ideal state) • AIDA (hook attention, build interest, create urgency, clear CTA) Run A/B tests on 100+ emails per framework. Track reply rates by persona. What works for founders won't work for VPs. Test, measure, adapt.
