And therefore it will never reach anything close to General Artificial Intelligence within its current paradigm. In November 2025, I attended an event at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, NYC, on the topic of “Can LLMs actually understand the words they are spitting out?”. One of the panelists was Yann LeCun, considered one of the founding fathers of modern AI. Around that time, he announced he was leaving Meta as Chief Data Scientist to pursue his own AI venture. His reasoning was that LLMs will never lead to real intelligence because they do not build world models or a true understanding of reality. He also argued that the majority of AI investment is focused on LLMs, including at Meta, which is why he felt compelled to pursue a different path. From a first-principles perspective, LLMs are mathematics applied to patterns in words. But what are words really? My perspective is that they are only references — pointers to lived experience. Without having experienced what a word refers to, can you truly understand what they point to? If you have never seen a color like red or blue, no amount of words will give you real understanding. And my perspective, is that LLMs, and computers in general, have no experience of the world. They apply pattern recognition to words without knowing what those words refer to. I think Yann LeCun’s approach will expand on AIs ability by building world models and some understanding, but still entirely within the paradigm of mathematics. Since a computer can only process data that can be quantified and then apply mathematics to find patterns. The next natural question is then: what kinds of information exist beyond what can be quantified? Psychiatrist and neuroscientist Iain McGilchrist argues that we live in a left-hemisphere-dominated society. One implication is that we reduce reality to measurable facts, mistaking quantifiable representations for reality itself. My point of view, building on his model, is that when we activate both hemispheres, along with the heart brain and gut brain, our perception of reality changes. The cosmos comes alive, and we gain access to far richer information about reality that cannot be quantified or uploaded into a computer. Even with excellent pattern recognition, the order-of-magnitude difference in informational access prevents AI from coming anywhere close to what a fully activated human being can access. Summary 1. Humans can access information about reality that far exceeds what computers can access. 2. LLMs in its current form will plateau pretty quickly, and never develop real understanding of reality. 3. Yann Le-Cun’s World Models approach will advance AI, but not close the gap with humans, as they remain within the paradigm of quantized information. 4. We humans currently underuse our intelligence architecture, due to a left-hemisphere-dominated perception.

I predicted in march 2025 on a TV show that the next milestone will be simulated AGI around 2027. We are on track for that. This is what Dario is eluding too.
New world models for AI to learn will lead us towards real human level intelligence about 3-5 years from now.

I would not worry. Yuval has no credentials in AI, product development or offers solutions for mankind. He is a talker. Stick to your path and don’t worry about these type of folks. The people don’t listen to them, they want a voice and solutions.
I have never seen loving kindness from his talks or actions feeding the poor.
I would happily debate him in front of a public audience.

Matthew James Bailey reacted on thisI had the pleasure of joining Brian Gorman on his podcast for a conversation about critical thinking as a critical skill for the future of work. Einstein famously said: "If I had one hour to solve a problem, I would use 55 minutes to define the problem, and 5 minutes to solve it." It's kind of a funny remark, but points to something interesting. Before we are optimizing how we solve problems, are we sure if we are solving the right ones? With the rise of AI, where we can create solutions faster and faster, it will increasingly be our role as Human Beings to ask the right questions, and figure out what are the right problems to solve to begin with. I shared a perspective on the intimate panel with Top Tier Impact at SXSW. It is something I’ve been saying for quite some time. Chaos isn't the enemy. Chaos creates malleability Chaos loosens the structures we thought were fixed and that we had allowed to define us. It softens them, and in that softening, it opens space for something else to form. This malleability is exactly the moment we’re in. If we're being honest, the way we’ve been using capital… the way profit has been tied to extraction, to exploitation, to optimization at all costs... that didn’t happen by accident. It’s been the dominant logic - domination logic. But now we’re at this point as a species where we get to ask: Is this actually who we are? Or is this just the system we were handed which we’ve been operating inside of? If we start resourcing differently, with our time, our attention, our capital, our energy... we begin to shape something else. This connects to evolution, across every domain. Chaos prepares the soil for coherence. I don’t believe this season is about finding the perfect way to do the transition to new structures. Because I don't think there is one way. But I do see that there’s a specific finite window right now. What we choose now has an extraordinarily sginificant impact on what comes next, disproportionate to that of any other moment in our lifetime. The rules are changing. And we can shape them. What do we choose?

In any living system energy moves through relationships, exchange, and shared function. When that exchange weakens, something strange begins to happen. Parts of the system start holding on to more than they need, and slowly the flow that once sustained the whole begins to tighten around a few points. The same pattern shows up in nature and in human structures. In biology, when one part of the body keeps taking energy without giving anything back, the system enters crisis. In society a similar dynamic appears when the ability to cooperate fades and accumulation becomes the main strategy for survival. Extreme individualism grows in that kind of environment. People stop thinking about participation in a shared structure and begin focusing only on what can be secured personally. Over time the concentration of energy becomes extreme, and the distance between people widens until most of the system struggles to sustain itself. At the same time, systems built only on collective control also lose balance because individual contribution fades. Growth seems to appear when both forces move together, when personal expression and shared responsibility reinforce each other instead of competing for dominance. In some cultures over the history of humanity, it was maybe not necessary, as it was the default But where we find ourselves now, from the current starting point, the first step is often to learn how to BE again Mindfulness Meditation Stop doing Start being present Then stored unprocessed experiences start to emerge And first we learn how to stay with them, opposed to escaping Which is a great step already And then further alchemize them as they start to expose themselves more and more As we process the stored experiences, the fog starts to clear And the loving field of intelligence starts to emanate within And then, as you connect with that field of intelligence How do you start doing again? But now from a different place? So for example improv theatre is a great arena to practice that As you have to express all the time And you learn to express from presence From tuning into what is And you can learn about how to express in conversations From a place of resonance, truth Now we are doing again But from a very different place A place of being present Connected to resonating truth within And the next question is, what kind of world do we create? Now that we are increasingly connected with presence And the presence Is the portal to a higher intelligence The creative intelligence that is creating the Universe What kind of society do we create from being connected to that intelligence? What kind of Earth? Is it an economic structure that is fundamentally extractive? And destroys the very foundations it stands on, the earth itself? Is it big cities with skyscrapers, increasingly reducing the presence of the natural, breathing world? Is it an education system that is memorization-based, that doesn't develop any real understanding of how society is built up, the various ways of organizing a society, and what paradigm we are currently in? Probably not. Is it an economic system that is actually sustainable, doesn't take out more than what can be re-generate by nature every year? Is it cities, ways of living, that are more in harmony with the natural world? Is it an education system that values critical thinking, explores many different ways of organizing a society, and develops well-rounded human beings that are connected with Source Intelligence, and can go out in the world and co-create a sustainable world for all living beings to live in harmony with nature? Probably more in that direction right? As the trillions of cells that make up our bodies, are following a higher intelligence to co-create an organism that works incredible well, so can we tune into a higher intelligence within and become co-creators alongside that Force, to create a higher organism that works and is sustainable on a planetary level. One humanity, with many different tribes, all working together to create a beautiful planet.

It is interesting to reflect on the impact AI has had so far on productivity. The promise of AI—like most technological advances—is to produce more output with the same time and effort. That was the case in the agricultural revolution: one farmer could cultivate far more land using machines. The same pattern appeared in the industrial revolution, where factories dramatically increased production. In knowledge work, however, productivity works differently. One hour of work is not always equal to another hour. The relationship between time spent and value created is far more non-linear. If we simplify, one additional hour in a factory often resulted in one additional hour of production. In knowledge work, the link between time and impact is far less direct. Meetings in modern corporations illustrate this well. Example 1: Decision paralysis in meetings A group gathers to discuss a project that needs to move forward. The conversation begins with updates. Someone shares their perspective, another adds a concern, someone else raises a new angle. The discussion continues, but the core question never quite comes into focus. People react to fragments of the problem, but the full picture remains blurry. Time passes and the conversation drifts. Eventually the meeting ends with no real decision. Someone suggests scheduling a follow-up to “continue the discussion.” Everyone agrees. Calendars come out. Another meeting is booked. The project remains exactly where it was before the meeting started. Example 2: A meeting that moves the project forward Now imagine the same situation playing out differently. Before the meeting, someone prepares a short memo outlining the problem, the context, and the key perspectives. This forces the thinking to become concrete before the discussion begins. When the group gathers, there is no presentation. Instead, the first 20 minutes are spent silently reading the memo and forming an understanding of the issue. Then the discussion begins. A facilitator brings in different viewpoints, summarizes what is being said, connects perspectives, and surfaces the real disagreements. Gradually the team develops a shared understanding of the problem. The key questions become clearer. Options emerge, trade-offs are discussed, and a direction takes shape. By the end of the meeting, the team leaves with a clear decision and next steps. This illustrates a key point: in knowledge work, one hour of work does not necessarily produce one hour of value. The real leverage comes from the quality of thinking. From my perspective, AI amplifies existing working patterns And that means that people that tend to get into 'busy work', will end up doing more of that, producing reports, attending meetings, without any clear output. Strong critical thinkers, on the other hand, will use AI to clarify problems, gather perspectives quickly, and drive better decisions.

When AI is embedded inside that boundary, the browser can begin converting ordinary browsing into structured semantic data that travels through less bounded pathways than earlier web flows.
