Marii Sebahar reposted thisMarii Sebahar reposted thisWe all know what it means, colloquially, to google something. You pop a few relevant words in a search box and in return get a list of blue links to the most relevant results. Maybe some quick explanations up top. Maybe some maps or sports scores or a video. But fundamentally, it’s just fetching information that’s already out there on the internet and showing it to you, in some sort of structured way. But all that is up for grabs. We're at a new inflection point. The biggest change to the way search engines have delivered information to us since the 1990s is happening right now. No more keyword searching. No more sorting through links to click. Instead, we’re entering an era of conversational search. Which means instead of keywords, you use real questions, expressed in natural language. And instead of links, you’ll increasingly be met with answers, written by generative AI and based on live information from all across the internet, delivered the same way. Does that mean AI is automating our jobs away? Yes, and no. It's automating the toil, definitely. But it is also expanding our role. The same report found 77% of us say our workload is heavier than ever. Why? Because 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗜-𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗱 from 19% to 37% in two years. 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗘 (𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿): We built reliable, predictable, ETL pipelines to move data from transactional to analytical systems. 𝗔𝗜-𝗘𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗘 (𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁): Our world is now complex, real-time, and multimodal. We're architecting the entire AI-ready foundation. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 "𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁" 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹. The report shows that we're now influencing: • Overall data strategy (51% of us!) • Tech vendor selection (66%) • Overall AI strategy (41%) Why this massive shift in influence? Marii Sebahar liked thisNew research from Snowflake and YouGov reveals a stark reality for the UK: while 83% of leaders expect AI to boost productivity materially, only 23% are currently seeing clear, measurable gains across their use cases. The gap isn't the technology — it's the foundation. There is no AI strategy without a data strategy. Do you know how to shift your organization from AI hype to scalable productivity? See what 500+ executives have to say on the matter and how to navigate all things AI:Marii Sebahar liked thisThe UK government estimates AI could add £47bn to the UK economy annually. ⚡️ A new report conducted by YouGov on behalf of Snowflake surveyed senior decision-makers, such as CEOs and CFOs across the UK, revealing that 23% are already seeing AI delivering productivity improvements at scale, with a further 45% of organizations saying AI is delivering early gains or in specific use cases. What’s more is that there’s clear momentum for AI investment in the next 12 to 24 months – only 1% of businesses are planning to cut AI spend. But while data suggests that belief in AI’s potential is strong, large-scale adoption is proving more complex. Our findings show that the primary obstacles to AI-led productivity aren't technical—they're structural, ranging from factors such as skill gaps, poor data quality, and organizational silos. When your data is inconsistent, your governance is split across functions, and your AI initiatives aren't tied to specific business outcomes, more spending just means more expensive experiments. Marii Sebahar liked thisThis is a fun video from our team on the ground at #RSAC, but it speaks to a serious issue that businesses deal with today. 80% of US office workers say they could spot phishing emails, but just 43% on average were able to identify the difference between legitimate and phishing emails. Why does that matter? We shared in our 2026 Annual Threat Report that Darktrace detected 32 million phishing emails in 2025, with more than one-third (38%) using novel social engineering techniques (which can be supercharged by AI). While these smart cookies at RSA did a great job at spotting the phish, it's clear humans can't be the last line of defense. AI Authority is earned when every channel tells the same story. I shared my insights with the Forbes Communications Council about Saatva's approach to aligning earned, owned, social, and internal communications to reinforce one clear narrative. In an AI-driven world, that credibility is what positions a brand as the trusted answer people (and platforms) turn to. If you are thinking about how to build brand authority in today’s fragmented media landscape, I hope it’s a helpful read. https://lnkd.in/eaW3ewAt

I have always believed in the power of creativity and technology, so I am incredibly excited about our five-year partnership with WPP to bring the best of Google’s technology to WPP’s world-class creative team, and to invent the future of marketing together. Our teams already have a long and successful history together, and this is the latest chapter in that journey. My team has loved bringing new ideas to life with WPP Open, which now has the best of Gemini, Veo, and Imagen built in. These next generation of creative tools have incredible potential to unlock creativity and collaboration, all at the speed of AI. This new way of working will enable us to create truly helpful experiences for people at global scale. I am super excited to see what new kinds of campaigns and storytelling come from this partnership, and how we can continue to drive brand love and business growth in this era of AI. As consumers seek deeper connection and shared values, the most forward-thinking companies are moving beyond campaigns to cultivate community as a core business strategy. In The Female Quotient Lounge at #SXSW we heard from leaders who are creating space to deepen trust and turn customers into collaborators. Here are just a few powerful takeaways from this weekend: ➡️ The best brands don’t chase culture, they build systems to listen to it. - Chloe Parsons, Razorfish ➡️ I challenge myself everyday to be the woman I needed but didn’t have. - Dr. Jen Welter ➡️ Embarrassment is a green light. It’s the signal that you’re growing. - Allison Ellsworth, Poppi Drink ➡️ Make sure you speak to yourself well and the relationship you have with yourself is a really positive one. Don’t talk yourself out of things you really want. - Emma Grede, GOOD AMERICAN, SKIMS ➡️ I envision a world where every woman is the CEO of their own health. We have to work on things like science-based healthcare, health education literacy, and helping the individual be in control of their health and wellness. - Daniella Foster, Bayer ➡️ Strength is beautiful. Whatever sport you choose to play should never put you in a box. - Ilona Maher

I've been sharing this with clients lately: the marketers driving the most impact today aren’t just experienced—they’re agile, strategic, and quick to adapt. In fast-moving markets, adaptability isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a competitive advantage. Consumer behavior, technology, and market dynamics shift constantly. The question isn't whether to evolve, but how quickly you can pivot strategically. Great perspective in this Forbes article. What's your take?

I, for one, am grateful that Muck Rack's generative AI report has moved the comms and PR segment of my LI feed beyond #KissCam gate. (Report link in comments.) The report reiterates what we all know to be true: earned media builds credibility and authority. Anything that re-ups the conversation about the strategic value of PR and communications is a good thing. Now, let's all support a healthy information ecosystem by subscribing to and supporting local, trade, and national media while calling out and quashing misinformation and disinformation where we see it.

The CMO’s AI Paradox: Pressure vs. Reality The C-level is demanding AI, but adoption is failing. New data shows 80% of marketers feel pressure from the board to adopt AI, yet only 6% have fully embedded it into their workflows. This reveals a critical leadership blind spot. A recent Gartner survey found that while 65% of CMOs expect their role to change dramatically due to AI, only 32% are actively upskilling to meet the challenge. This adoption gap shows a lack of strategic focus on the foundational pillars required for success: 1.Data Foundation: AI cannot run on a data swamp. CMOs must own the data narrative, yet only 31% are meaningfully involved in their company's data strategy today. 2.Team Architecture: Siloed specialist teams are too slow for the AI era. The future requires agile, data-literate teams. A "Positionless Marketing" model has been shown to improve campaign efficiency by 88%. 3.Systemic Approach: The objective is to build an AI-powered marketing engine that creates compounding competitive advantage, connecting every action to P&L impact. The board wants to see how an AI-powered system is measurably growing enterprise value. Leaders who build this system by re-architecting their data, teams, and strategy will define the new standard. Those who simply delegate AI as another task will be left behind. #CMO #MarketingStrategy #AI #Leadership #DataStrategy #MarTech #FutureOfMarketing References: •Gartner: CMO “AI Blind Spot” Survey (Feb 2026) •Supermetrics: 2026 Marketing Data Report (Mar 2026) •Optimove/McKinsey: Positionless Marketing Insights (Mar 2026)

If anyone is looking for an independent report and analysis on what's ahead in 2026 for the hottest business sectors, look no further than the latest annual report from Activate Consulting. This year's report highlights key trends across the industry, including: Massive Growth in Tech and Media: The global internet, media, and B2B technology sectors are forecast to see $1.3T in incremental revenue over the next four years, with B2B tech and software alone growing by $907B to become a $3.9T market. The 32-Hour Day and the "Attention" War: Multitasking has created a 32-hour, 17-minute day, where consumers spend over 13 hours on media, blurring industry lines. Social is now 71% video, retail media is a $100B+ business, and gaming is a social hub, forcing companies to expand into new territories to capture fractured attention. AI Is Rewriting the Rules: With adoption now at over 60% of US adults, Generative AI (GenAI) is the single biggest driver of change, monetization, and investment. It is fundamentally altering online search, with 72 million U.S. adults expected to use a GenAI platform as their first stop by 2029. The "Super User" Demands a New Strategy: A highly engaged 28% of the population disproportionately drives media consumption, tech adoption, and 59% of e-commerce spend. As high-value brand advocates who are 87% comfortable sharing data and willing to pay for premium experiences, they require a dedicated strategy. The Post-Smartphone Future: Major tech companies are investing in spatial computing as the next platform shift. The goal is to merge VR/MR's spatial power into AI glasses, unlocking new behaviors and monetization models on par with the smartphone's arrival. Gaming Becomes Universal: By 2029, virtually all online adults will be gamers, driving the global gamer population to 3.7B. This massive, universal audience will fuel a $214B global market, with mobile remaining the largest and fastest-growing segment. New Digital Markets Are Surging: The legalization of sports betting is creating a massive new market, with the total amount wagered in the U.S. projected to reach $215B annually by 2029 as it becomes legal in an expected 48 states.

Most metrics will tell you what your campaign delivered. But attention is the metric that finally tells you why it worked. The new mCanvas × Lumen study takes the conversation far beyond clicks and vanity metrics. It clearly demonstrates how high-attention environments drive stronger recall, deeper consideration, and higher intent — the outcomes that genuinely move the needle for brands. A big congratulations to my amazing team at mCanvas (Roshni Verma Shubhangi Kale Ryan Dsouza Tariq Nahas Meghna Soni Abhilash Krishnan) and our partners at Lumen Research for bringing this research to life. Nicole Conley and I were recently discussing similar themes on the future of PR. ◆ AI is automating tasks such as content creation, and providing deeper insights on reporters' style and how they cover certain topics. We use a combination of MuckRack and ChatGPT for briefing documents but it only takes you so far. We have a deeper knowledge and experience with key reporters we have been working with for years. ◆ Building relationships with press has never been more important with fewer reporters and more companies vying for their attention. ◆ As the report highlights while social media is becoming a primary source of news, the spread of misinformation is a top concern. AI could make detection of fake news more difficult. Fact checking is critical. ◆ Substack is an exciting new way to connect with reporters and we are seeing new opportunities for generating visibility for our clients. #AI #IABC #SFIABC
