Manny Ruiz shared thisThis is an incredible pinch-us moment that none of us saw coming: Minivela’s beloved #microdrama series, Rico’s Tacos, has officially been honored with a proclamation from the City of Pomona. What makes this recognition especially meaningful is the extraordinary way Pomona embraced us during our week-long production at Shawn Diamond Plaza. Mayor Tim Sandoval, Councilman Victor Preciado, and other city leaders went out of their way to welcome and support our team, while local businesses—including Gutierrez Law Firm —generously opened their doors to us, providing office space for wardrobe changes, meals, editing, and restroom access without asking for a penny in return. We are deeply honored by this recognition—and, on behalf of our entire producing team, including Procter & Gamble and Albertsons Media Collective, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the City of Pomona and its local businesses for their generosity, hospitality, and flexibility. The mechanism is real, and it shows up in expensive places. Uri Gneezy and Aldo Rustichini studied daycare centers in Israel that were tired of parents collecting their kids late. The centers introduced a small fine. Late pickups went up, not down, and stayed up even after the fine was scrapped. The fine had turned an obligation into a purchase, and once a thing has a price, you're entitled to buy it. That's the risk with any reward or penalty. It doesn't only change the incentive. As you may know, I lead Audio Dice Network (ADN), ADNRADIO.tv, and AudioDice.net. I own two online radio stations that are well-visited. I mentor, produce, and advise other content creators, plus I have invested in others' visions, such as Brilla Media and @Minivelas, which has been super successful with the @bistec podcast, and now @ricos_tacos making waves. At ADN, one of our podcasters has reached 25 million YouTube views. At 215stop, we took over their social media a year ago, and the results are mind-blowing. MIAMI-DADE COUNTY FILM & TELEVISION PRODUCTION INCENTIVE PROGRAM — INCLUDING THE HIGH IMPACT FILM FUND Florida does not currently operate a statewide production incentive. Miami-Dade chose to support the industry locally — and that matters for bringing production back to Miami. The County built a performance-based rebate, not a transferable tax credit, meaning participation occurs only after verified economic activity takes place in the community. The program began in 2017 supporting independent and mid-scale productions and expanded in 2024 through the High Impact Film Fund to responsibly accommodate larger projects. How the framework operates: → Minimum local spend thresholds→ Local crew hiring requirements→ Independent audit verification prior to payment→ Public Board of County Commissioners approval→ Funding distributed within capped appropriations Baseline incentive tiers: → $50,000 rebate at $500,000 local spend→ $100,000 rebate at $1,000,000 local spend High Impact Film Fund: → Up to approximately 20% rebate for qualifying large-scale productions→ Authorized at up to $50 million over five years (approximately $10 million available annually, subject to appropriation) The significance of the program is practical. It creates a working framework for productions of different scales — independent films, episodic series, and larger features — while maintaining responsible fiscal structure. For filmmakers and producers, predictability drives decision-making. A local incentive allows projects to budget Miami again, hire local crews again, and plan production here with confidence.
