The KEV catalog can start that clock on a Friday night. CISA's stated reason: adversaries are using AI to shrink the window between patch release and exploitation. Its response, BOD 26-04, retires CVSS-first prioritization. Four signals decide the deadline instead: exposure, KEV status, exploit automation, and technical impact. CISA publishes three of them for free. Exposure is on you, and if you can't prove an asset isn't exposed, you get the fastest clock. Despite the early coverage, it's not a checklist. Table 1 is a 16-row decision tree. Model the tree or you'll fix things in the wrong order. There's a carrot, too: formal, citable permission to defer low-risk bugs to the next upgrade cycle. IT teams have wanted that in writing for a decade. And it won't stay federal. The KEV never bound a private company and still ended up in your insurance questionnaire. The 2026 DBIR puts median KEV resolution at 43 days. Three days against 43 isn't a staffing problem. It's an automation mandate wearing a compliance costume. Starting in May, we focused our energy and resources on delivering the best product and company for our customers. Under the mantra of rowing together as one team on one course, we embraced the idea that while we can't change history, we can change the future. March marked the close of our Q1 NPS survey, a key indicator that we're doing the right things for our customers. In 11 months, our NPS is up 228%, reaching a world-class level. Yes, that means we started too low. Again, we can't change that history. But the future looks bright. I couldn't be prouder of the team's focus, resolve, and commitment. They're all in, and I love that they now have a number that reflects that effort.

It's a full-cycle, results-focused offering that combines the best tool with best practices to ensure success. I'm incredibly proud of the team at Automox for solving the hardest problems and coming together cross-functionally to deliver Turnkey Results on a fast, furious, startup timeline. If the hard stuff was easy, everyone would do it.

That starts with understanding what’s important, then stack-ranking the effort and impact required to make those things happen. For me, everything begins and ends with the customer. What do they need, and how do we give it to them? The answers to these two simple questions drive Automox’s prioritization and ultimately, its growth. We’ve adopted a course to deliver customer value and will not veer from it. Our IT and cybersecurity customers need to reduce their risk and increase their efficiency. Their teams and budgets are shrinking, while their complexity and stress skyrocket. Last night, an upstart competitor of ours demonstrated their priorities. This morning, I’m grateful for the clarity they provided on brand differentiation.

The incentives are so high on the offensive side that defense gets the scraps. Too many of our people, processes, and tools are fixated on a compliance mindsets and countering the intrusion methodologies of 10+ years ago. We urgently need innovation and leadership to break the stagnation.Kelly Carlson, MBA liked thisIf you don’t know, I’m beyond passionate about helping our national security stop adversaries and modernizing our cyber systems… all while saving money. It’s literally my mission at Vectra AI to make the world a safer and fairer place. Re-reading “The Kill Chain” while taking some time off, and this just struck me like a ton of bricks. “We have largely focused on connecting specific military systems together to generate understanding, facilitate decisions, and take actions against specific kinds of targets. But those kill chains do not easily adapt to threats that are different from those they were specifically built to address. They may be highly effective against preplanned objectives that do not change much, such as striking stationary targets in the opening days of a conflict. But our kill chains struggle to confront dynamic threats, such as moving targets, or multiple dilemmas at once.” Let’s take this statement from Christian Brose acclaimed 2020 book “The Kill Chain” and apply it 6 years later. Instead, update ‘military systems’ with ‘cyber intrusion detection system’ and ‘stationary targets’ with ‘known exploits’. Now let’s layer in frontier AI and the fun that transpired this past week from OpenAIs own model going on its own attack. Tell me, with a straight face, that our defensive cyber operations are not coming to the same conclusion. They cannot confront ‘dynamic threats’ or ‘multiple dilemmas’. When I tell you this is what we do and the problems we solve at Vectra, I’ve got a stone cold, straight face. How do we get the rest of the defense and intelligence base to realize warfare on the physical battlefield and cyberspace have the same correlations and need the same level of innovation and modernization?
