Jolene Marshall shared thisThanks to Arnold & Porter for hosting a terrific forum in Seattle last month. Legal leaders have to see around corners. Staying close to the latest developments is a key part of that work. I was grateful to learn from Marissa John, Esq., Daniel Raymond, and Sheena Thomas during our session on data and privacy. My biggest takeaway: few things test your incident readiness better than a well-run tabletop exercise. Do the tabletop. Stress-test your people, processes, and technology. Keep refining until the response feels strong, then revisit it at least annually so the muscle stays sharp.

Members gather for intimate in-home dinners and share meaningful conversation about their lives. On Monday, we talked about new beginnings, disruptions in life plans, and aspirations for the future. It was a lovely night of camaraderie and connection. Jolene Marshall liked thisJolene Marshall liked thisThe AI stack isn't the hard part of an AI transformation. Nobody budgets time for the part that actually breaks: the humans. Every company right now is having a version of the same AI conversation: which tools to buy, which models to use, how many seats to license. That part's straightforward, and most leadership teams move fast on it. What's harder, and what fewer teams plan for upfront, is the cultural and workforce transformation underneath it. You can roll out the best AI stack in the world and still stall out, because the technology was rarely the real constraint. The constraint is whether people trust the new way of working, whether roles get redefined instead of just automated around the edges, and whether leaders are willing to rebuild process instead of bolting AI onto the old one. Technology transformation is a procurement problem. Workforce transformation is a leadership problem. The companies that get this right are treating both as one project, not two. That's exactly why the CHRO seat is getting more critical, not less. I'm seeing founders bring in a real people leader far earlier than they used to, because getting the workforce side wrong during an AI transition is expensive to unwind later. When the org itself is being redesigned, you want someone in the room who can shape that, not clean it up after. I went deeper on this with Kyle Forrest on Deloitte’s Capital H podcast.
