Joe Albrecht liked thisJoe Albrecht liked thisAs I wrap up the taught portion of my MSc in Design and Digital Media at the University of Edinburgh, I’ve been reflecting on how much I’ve learned over the past year. Throughout my coursework, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a range of projects. From designing a medication tracking app focused on accessibility in my UX course to developing brand guidelines for an air-cleaning product. These experiences strengthened my skills in user-centered design, prototyping, and visual communication. I also explored the social impact of digital spaces through a research paper on the Nth Room case, where I examined issues that arise within encrypted online chatrooms and had the opportunity to speak with a psychologist specializing in digital anonymity. This work deepened my understanding of online ethics and the role of social platforms in ensuring user safety. I’m excited to soon begin my dissertation and continue exploring how design can create more thoughtful, accessible, and meaningful digital experiences.
