Joe Bresler, MBA shared thisNew year, new #AI outreach fails! Here are 3 areas where I'm seeing AI #sales outreach fall-down already in 2026 (though we're just 2 days into it!): 👉 1. Poor use of signals: AI data tools and LinkedIn or web scrapers pull information from your LinkedIn profile (among other sources, including recent activities), and use that data to "customize" outreach (through AI writing, etc.). But sometimes what's used are poor signals, which are not accurate or not relevant to what's being offered in the outreach. 💡 Tip: Make sure that the signals you are leveraging, the copy AI is writing, and what you are offering are harmonious. Otherwise, the AI written outreach sounds odd, disjointed, and out of place. ⁉️ Silly and fictitious example (yet follows the pattern I've seen several times already): "I saw that you posted about your love of chocolate. I love chocolate too! In fact, I strongly believe that you'd be a great candidate for my #SaaS solution. Let's jump on a 15 minute call so I can give you a demo!" --> user reaction: Whoa, where did that come from? 👉 2. Wrong or unverified data: with most data sources being used, there's still going to be some percentage of bad, old, or inaccurate #data. 💡 Tip: Review your data for potential inaccuracies, and correct it in your #CRM or outreach tool before starting your outreach. Even AI-enabled data correction can be wrong, if it is trained with rules that are not built to address the problems your data exhibits, or if the data itself is simply not verified or contains inaccuracies. In some case, you may want to create a "contact washing machine" that reviews data for common problems and continuously cleans it to ensure it is accurate. As always, the old adage of "garbage in, garbage out" still applies. ⁉️ Examples of issues: missing/blank fields, wrong gender assigned to a contact and used in personalization, prior company used instead of current company, etc. 👉 3. Endless outreach loops: Sometimes the outreach requests a response, and even though the end user may provide a response, the AI or outreach sequence didn't account for either that particular response, or for any response in general. As a result, the outreach continues to repeat indefinitely, or doesn't understand user signals in order to modify the approach. 💡 Tip: Think about a conversational flow, how a user may respond and craft the outreach accordingly. Also, ensure a staff member is monitoring the outreach and can modify it, respond to issues, and even turn it off for one or for batches of users when an issue occurs. Get your #marketing contact involved to assist with the messaging and to help with mapping the user journey. Remember that in most cases, #AI still needs a human in the loop to set it up, monitor, and manage it, and to make critical decisions when needed. Want to discuss AI, GTM, and Marketing Technology? Joe Bresler, MBA shared thisIf you think we've got a ton of billboards surrounding the freeway in San Francisco, check-out Cairo! While recently visiting Egypt, I was amazed to see the volume and variety of Out of Home, Digital, and traditional billboards, posters, and a ton of other advertising formats all around me. At various points, it went beyond distracting to almost overwhelming. Luckily I wasn't the one driving! In a crowded market, it is that much more important to stand-out from the competition with bold graphics and formats, and to have a message that resonates. And, of course, to have enough repetition so that the message sticks in the minds of the audience. Having led global marketing and advertising teams, I'm always curious and excited to see what brands are doing all around the world. In this case, my favorite was a colossal billboard that stretched across about 8 lanes of traffic. Which is your favorite? Both businesses (whether established #brand or #startup) and consumers have jumped right in. But at least in my feed, I haven't heard a lot being discussed about the dark side. Just this week, two such instances came across my desk: 1. Falling in love with AI as a substitute for dating: during the holidays, navigating relationships can be challenging. Can AI substitute for a personal relationship? https://lnkd.in/gPBKpxMP 2. This in from a San Francisco State faculty colleague: using AI to coach one's self through committing self-harm or worse, and of course, challenging an institution's policies to ensure that enterprise-wide users are protected from adverse risk. https://lnkd.in/gFTRZa2P So these instances trigger two questions for me: A. What is the product liability with building AI products? Have business insurance companies stepped-up rates accordingly? B. What are the guardrails needed with AI to help mitigate the potential negative impact of use cases that may have been unanticipated when building the product?
