If you just nod along when your engineering team talks about "Agentic Tool Use" or "Context Windows," you are surrendering control of your strategy. You don't need to write Python to lead a company in 2026. But you absolutely must be fluent in the language of the people building your products. General-purpose Large Language Models are polymaths, but they often lack the depth required for specialised industries. They struggle with domain specific vocabulary. We are proud to announce our research on "Domain Adaptation" has been accepted at the NeurIPS Workshop on Machine Learning and the Physical Sciences 2025. The Tokenization Bottleneck: How Vocabulary Extension Improves Chemistry Representation Learning in Pretrained Language Models https://lnkd.in/dMkdjW5z In our case study, standard models were fragmenting chemical formulas (SMILES) into meaningless pieces. By extending the vocabulary and performing targeted pretraining, we taught the model to "think" in molecules. The Bigger Picture: This methodology isn't limited to chemistry. The same "bottleneck" exists in: Finance: Complex ticker combinations and algorithmic trading logs. Legal: Archaic phrasing and citation structures. Eugene Record III liked thisEugene Record III liked thisExcited to announce that I’ve joined Mithril as Principal Solutions Engineer. This move feels like a natural continuation of a lot of what’s defined my career so far: 1. The most rewarding part of my role has always been helping customers turn friction into flow by listening, prototyping, and collaborating. Mithril gives me a chance to keep doing that, but now at a deeper infrastructure layer. 2. Partnerships are still in my blood. At Domino, I built deep bridges with suppliers, integrators, and tech alliance partners. Mithril is part of that very same ecosystem. 3. My PhD was in optimization, and my first paper modeled market systems. Mithril’s dynamic, market-based approach to GPU allocation is the kind of applied systems thinking that got me excited about AI/ML in the first place. 4. There’s something special about small, tight teams where the feedback loops are short and everyone builds together. I’m joining Mithril at a stage where impact and ownership go hand in hand. I value all the relationships that have been built along the way. If we’ve collaborated in the past and there’s a way to keep working together, let’s catch up!
