Over the years, NFP, an Aon company has consistently been a true partner, working alongside my teams and me to find ways to reduce costs while continuing to elevate the employee experience. That kind of partnership is invaluable, and I’m incredibly grateful for the trust, collaboration, and expertise they’ve brought to the table year after year. Their client, appreciation day was the perfect way to celebrate that relationship – beautiful weather, an incredible yacht, great company, and a gorgeous day on the Chesapeake. Janet Hanofee, SPHR liked thisEventful month. OpenAI/Hugging Face. Mythos. Chinese models. Black Hat. AFCEA International TechNet Augusta. AI continues to transform cyber. We understand it better. Still a lot of uncertainty. Still a lot to come. A lot of great customer conversations. We’re all working towards strategic clarity. A few common questions: What should we really be concerned about…vulnerability management? Agentic automation? Where should we focus our resources right now? And with AI innovation accelerating this quickly, how do we keep up? I think there’s a bigger issue underneath all these questions. We’re still reacting. A new model. A new capability. A new attack. We assess what happened, adjust our defenses, and wait for the next one. We need to get out in front and start taking control. That means changing how we think about cyber defense. How do we shape the environment the adversary has to operate in? How do we control what they can see, where they can move, and what they can access? And how do we disrupt and contain an attack before it achieves its objective? We’re not going to predict every new capability. The pace of innovation is simply too fast. But we can change the conditions the adversary has to operate within. That shift—from reacting to taking control—is where I think cyber defense needs to go next. We’ll dig into this idea Thursday during The Pivot to Control: Countering Machine-Speed Threats, and talk about what Counter AI, a control-centric approach to cyber defense, looks like in practice.
