I thought it was just a nonprofit.” When my cousin asked this last month I assured her that nonprofits are in fact real companies - with goals, budgets, hr policies and more. And now according to Fast Company, Merit America is the #1 Most Innovative Company in Education! All thanks to the amazing teammates, learners, and partners who make our “company” possible 💙

Gretchen Haehl reacted on thisGretchen Haehl reacted on thisIt's time for an update on my profile and network! I have always had a strong passion for returning to the Cardiometabolic Health space where my Lilly career started and supporting the innovation and opportunities that exist there. I’ve also aspired to be closer to my family in North Carolina. I am fortunate to work for an organization that allows me to pursue both passions in my most recent position change. In November of last year I accepted the role of Associate Vice President of Sales in the CMH division focused in the South Atlantic area. As part of this transition, Jake, Grayson, and I will be moving to North Carolina! I feel blessed and excited for the challenges ahead for my team and me and these last few months have already been incredibly rewarding. One of my leadership beliefs is we can both grow people and expand our thinking while doing so in a way that is motivating and inspiring. Every day is another chance to do just that on behalf of the patients we serve. Let’s go do amazing things friends and teammates!

Gretchen Haehl liked thisGretchen Haehl liked thisI’m excited to share that I’m joining Hyper as COO & Co-Founder, helping scale Voice AI for 9-1-1 communications centers. For most of my career, I’ve focused on getting 9-1-1 centers and first responders more data and better information, especially more precise mobile location and data from connected devices. That progress matters, but it can also add to the cognitive load for the people on the front line who have to make sense of it in real time. One of the reasons I’m so excited about Hyper is that we’re taking a different approach. Hyper’s Voice AI is designed to reduce burden and improve clarity by handling routine, non-emergency calls with care, and escalating uncertain situations to a human. The goal is simple: protect capacity so teams can focus on the calls that truly matter. What makes this moment especially compelling is the pace of change. AI is accelerating the transformation of public safety technology in a way I haven’t seen in prior tech cycles like mobile or cloud/SaaS. It’s unlocking capabilities that can help 9-1-1 centers now, and we’re seeing faster iteration and adoption when this is built and deployed responsibly. I’m also joining Hyper’s founding team because of the people. Benjamin Sanders and Damian McCabe bring world-class voice AI and startup-building experience. My focus will be on the operational side: customer success, onboarding, support, partnerships and integrations, and training. Most importantly, I’ll be listening closely to the agencies and 9-1-1 professionals we serve. A quick thank you to my ESO colleagues from the past 4+ years. I’m grateful for the experience and the relationships, and I’m carrying a lot of lessons forward. If you’re in the 9-1-1 world and want to compare notes on operational reality, responsible AI, or what helpful automation should look like, I’d love to connect. I'll be presenting at NENA: The 9-1-1 Association's Standards & Best Practices conference next week in New Orleans if you'd like to connect in person. Gretchen Haehl reacted on thisGretchen Haehl reacted on thisSince moving back to Indianapolis last year, one of the ways I’ve reconnected with the city is through Newfields a Place for Nature & The Arts - a place I’ve always loved. I rejoined as a member and began serving on the Board of Governors - it’s been a privilege to work alongside a deeply committed group of community leaders who care about art, nature, accessibility, and stewardship in Indy. It’s been especially energizing to support our new CEO, Le Monte Booker, and the entire team, whose vision and momentum are shaping an exciting new chapter. From gardens to galleries, Newfields offers a unique combination of experiences and inspiration - countless opportunities to be more creative, more connected, more educated, more peaceful, and more present. Grateful for the chance to continue building up this institution and welcoming everyone onto our beautiful campus. Being close to the work has given me a clearer appreciation for what’s underway at Newfields, and I’m looking forward to supporting its continued momentum in the year ahead and beyond.

At the heart of every investment AbbVie makes is a patient – someone waiting for a medicine, a treatment for a better tomorrow. As we build for a future, we do so with intention – designing a manufacturing network to deliver next-generation therapies to patients faster. Today’s announcement will enable us to add new manufacturing platforms and continue transforming our North Chicago campus. We plan to build three new manufacturing facilities and create 350 new jobs in North Chicago. Click below to learn about current opportunities in North Chicago: https://abbv.ie/5049f0

As part of Global Patient Week, I had the privilege of speaking with Becky Snead, senior director of strategic initiatives and the long-term care division of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), about our new collaboration to advance equitable cardiovascular care in rural areas of the U.S. Rural Americans face a 19% higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease, and too many patients face barriers in cardiovascular health — barriers that can cost lives. By equipping pharmacy techs to support the continuity of care in medically underserved communities, Bristol Myers Squibb and NCPA are working to expand access to quality healthcare. Lora Cecere Thank you for sharing🙂, as always it's insightful to read your articles, My key takeaways i mentioned in comments, Supply chain is not a function to be used, within an organization to reduce the cost, Cost isn't Value, Shed the aged perspective, (Supply chain is dynamic, and needs dynamic perspective always) Be adaptable, Data is a tool and you are the wrangler! to draw a perspective, model and simulate. 'Outside-in' perspective gives you opportunity to introspect the existing supply chain model, perhaps the opportunity to build more resilience in existing setup.

Healthcare should work for patients, not the other way around. That means making it more intuitive, equitable and fundamentally human. Chris Fox, EVP of U.S. Commercial and Head of Innovative Franchise, recently shared our perspective with Fierce Pharma, and explained how we’re taking steps to redefine commercial excellence, expand access and meet patients where they are. MAHA Report - White House: Last week the MAHA („Make America Healthy Again“) report for children has been presented by an expert panel to the U.S. President and other key decision makers at the White House. Personally, I think that this document (see link and commentary below) does provide a lot of information about the real or perceived situation with healthcare in the U.S and provides a rather depressing description about the current health situation with children and teenagers. I should also state clearly, that I can neither confirm or dispute the validity of the data presented in the 68-page document, but I wanted to share the document here to make us think collectively about the current and future situation with healthcare not only in the U.S., but also the rest of the world. Whilst the symptoms of this health crisis are obvious to everyone, perhaps the root cause of these problems and the necessary mitigation strategies are less clear. In any case, we should ask ourselves how to deal with the global increase for that broad range of diseases, such as ADHD, autism, allergies, asthma, depression, anxiety, obesity and diabetes, and many more. Comments are welcome. Democracy can stand a scientific dispute. MAHA report (May 22, 2025): https://lnkd.in/gRt5jZTZ Commentary: https://lnkd.in/gMNHfBzD https://lnkd.in/gMHMPw2K https://lnkd.in/gJdjePRg https://lnkd.in/gTw7mh3T Important note (May 31, 2025): Concerns about the validity of published data and quoted references in the MAHA report came up over the last couple of days. See links below: https://lnkd.in/eDS7D_k7 https://lnkd.in/eNPEeTnJ https://lnkd.in/eXKAEt_D I should state again that this report has been issued as an official document by the White House Office of the United States of America. It presents some very important topics for managing healthcare in the U.S. and around the world. We should review the document carefully and in great detail, then form a fact-based, data-driven, assessment of the conclusions in the report. I consciously decided to make this personal statement and not to delete my post on the topic.

The other day, I had to renew my parking permit in Florence. My first instinct was to call the office. Or maybe go in person. My Gen-Z colleague looked at me like I was dialing a rotary phone. “Why are you calling? There’s an app for that.” She was right, of course. But that’s why the moment stuck with me. It highlighted something bigger: a widening generational gap at work today. It’s a real shift I’m seeing. And it isn’t between Boomers (born 1946–1964) and Millennials (born 1981–1996). It’s now between Millennials and Gen Z (born 1997–2012). It’s not just about tech. It’s about how we communicate, what we expect from work, and how we solve problems. Gen Z moves fast. They prefer digital-first, often people-last. What I admire: they’re independent, values-driven, and not afraid to challenge outdated ways of doing things. They expect more, and that pushes all of us forward. What I worry about: some skills can’t be learned through screens. Reading the room. Navigating ambiguity. Picking up the phone. These take time and presence. I hear a lot of people complain, in both directions, about other generations. But I don’t see the gap as a threat. It's an opportunity. To listen. To learn. To build better workplaces that bridge perspectives across generations. The best teams I've worked with mix approaches, styles, and life experience. They harness Gen Z's efficiency while preserving the relationship-building that drives real innovation. So let's keep the conversation going. Ideally, not just on an app. 🙂

Tuesday #PsalmOfLife Different Paths, Same Outcome Agree to disagree and committ to the decision. Few days ago, I sat in a meeting where two of my leaders debated the “right” way to solve a problem. Both had valid points. Both were passionate. Both had strong expertise and experience but had worked in different companies in the past. What they were missing was that both, interestingly, led to the same outcome — just through different routes. It reminded me of this simple truth: 6 + 3 = 9 But so does 5 + 4. and also 10-1. Leadership isn’t about insisting on one path; it’s about recognizing that different approaches can lead to the same success. As a leader we need to decide which path is best suited for that moment and occasion. Great leaders don’t look for uniformity — they look for alignment. They value diverse thinking, knowing that innovation often emerges when perspectives differ but purposes unite. It is rightly said - Agree to disagree and committ to the decision. When we listen, respect, and empower others to think freely, we don’t just lead teams — we nurture trust, creativity, and collective ownership. Because in the end, leadership isn’t about being right; it’s about doing what’s right — together. And inspiring teams to do the right thing. #InclusiveLeadership #DiversityOfThought #EmpathyInLeadership #Collaboration

ID Week just took place in Atlanta. It was a reminder that real impact takes place when patient-centered care is the focus, from prevention to practice. This year, the Gilead Sciences team shared data from 34 presentations across HIV, viral hepatitis, and respiratory viruses. Especially inspiring was new data on our next-generation PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), including on disproportionately affected populations. From the Gilead-led abstracts to the Learning Lounges, our teams helped foster important conversations that translate insights into action - paramount to our collective progress forward. #IDWeek #InfectiousDiseases #HealthEquity #PublicHealth #GileadProud

A new article from my colleagues highlights an emerging concern: the rise in pharmacy closures across the country. This issue is especially critical in vulnerable communities, where pharmacies are often the first point of contact for medical needs. As closures continue, we need to recognize the profound impact on public health. Areas without pharmacies face increased barriers to care, which can disproportionately affect individuals who are already underserved. Addressing this issue goes beyond economics—it’s about ensuring equitable access to healthcare for all. #PharmacyClosures #AccessToCare #HealthcareEquity #PublicHealth #VulnerableCommunities

The Lilly Science Celebration Day in Indianapolis last week was a reminder of the collaborative strength that drives innovation in healthcare. Celebrating with colleagues from across the research path and regions, I reflected on my own trajectory with a passion to understand behavioral & physiological drivers of health - from academia to two decades in industry. Here are the principles that continue to guide me ✅ Stay Curious The first advice I was given in a professional context - which still holds true! curios into other disciplines and more importantly the perspectives and opinions of others ✅ Power Yourself by Purpose Intermediate goals and priorities can blur the vision, but reminding ourselves that we work towards meaningful change and value for people in need of treatment ✅ Seize Opportunities & Invest in Others Even if small and invest in others to learn and build expertise to grow as individuals and a team #Healthinnovation #RWE #Healthdata #WeAreEliLillyUKandIreland
