Chris Hill liked thisChris Hill liked this28 years - a long journey by any stretch, and one that’s been extraordinary. After nearly three decades, I’m turning the page on the practice of law. It’s a journey that started with no expectations; but one that’s given me so much. Being bold enough to be different has allowed me to achieve everything I could have possibly imagined, and more. Practicing at the highest levels and, for the most part, on the side of amazing and irrepressible founders, operators and company builders (as well as the daring investors who backed them), has been the greatest honor of my life. 🌎 It’s taken me from NYC, to London, to SF and Silicon Valley. With MANY visits to other ecosystems in between! 🏛️ I’ve been entrusted as a key strategic advisor on more than 300 transactions valued at over $275 billion in aggregate deal value; some that have been groundbreaking in their structure. All of them have created impact for the wonderful humans involved, and that brings me joy. 💫 My privilege has been to learn from from some of the world’s best at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP (my rigorous “classical training”). Through the luck of an intro, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati extended me the opportunity to develop deep immersion and witness the power and impact of technology on every industry (my “strategic evolution”). Most importantly, I was called on to build with entrepreneurial partners at Goodwin to launch their West Coast Tech Practice. This attempt by an East Coast firm to not only break into, but eventually best, Silicon Valley incumbents was audacious! The agency and the collaborative spirit here allowed me to be an intrapreneur. That will always be the highlight of my legal career. 🚀 And what a rocketship! Being a part of - and ultimately entrusted to lead - a team what has been ranked the #1 M&A practice in the world for 6 straight years is one build that I’ll never forget. And the fact that in doing so garnered the recognition of my peers and clients both, I’m very proud of. I am happy that I’m not bidding goodbye to #goodwinlaw… I have transitioned to a Senior Advisor role which will allow me to stay close to a place that will always feel like family to me. ❤️ Too many people to thank - so many who have made an impact on my trajectory, my thinking and my life - that I will simply say, THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart… you know who you are! ���� Especially to my clients, who have entrusted their most crucial transactions to me, many of whom have become dear friends. After 30+ years building businesses and making decisions under uncertainty, I'm launching a newsletter to explore exactly that—and I'd invite you to join. For most of my career, I’ve built quietly—working in finance, investing in companies, helping launch institutions, supporting projects that mattered to me. I haven’t felt the need to speak publicly beyond those domains. But this moment feels different. Artificial intelligence is accelerating rapidly—not just automating tasks, but intervening in cognition itself. At the same time, the institutions and shared narratives that once stabilized public life have weakened. Trust is fragile. Meaning feels thinner. Young people are growing up in a world fundamentally different from the one many of us inherited. Most commentary focuses on how powerful AI will become, how fast it will scale, what it will replace. But I believe the more urgent question is very different. When change accelerates faster than our ability to make sense of it, the real crisis is not intelligence. It is human agency—our capacity to decide, adapt, and learn coherently under uncertainty. Over the past several years, I’ve been working on a framework for thinking about this problem. A book based on that work will be published in about seven months, with all proceeds donated. But events are moving faster than publishing timelines. So I’m starting a Substack as a public notebook—a place to explore these ideas in dialogue, not as finished doctrine. I’ll write roughly every other week. Some essays will examine the collision we’re living through: a second cognitive revolution, arriving as our social and psychological stabilizers weaken. Others will explore decision-making under deep uncertainty—and how organizations and societies can function as learning systems rather than ideology factories. Chris Hill liked thisChris Hill liked thisFor seven years, everyone who Zoomed with me saw the same angle - me working out of my kitchen. I raised three funds from that kitchen table, helped run The Chainsmokers, closed 200+ deals...all while sitting in the same spot where I'd eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. And really, it worked. We were successful. But I definitely sensed some people were skeptical. I think those little signals inherently change how people take you seriously, even if they don't mean for it to. The bigger issue was that the kitchen was my office, so anytime I was in the kitchen, it still felt like work - and no joke this was the best and only location in my house for this all. My girlfriend would never know if I was locked in or just grabbing coffee. It's hard to disconnect when your workspace is the same place you make dinner. Now I've got an actual office in my new house, and while the setup isn’t even that different, the mental shift is huge. You can see the difference in these two photos alone. When I'm in the office now, I'm locked in. It's like putting on a tuxedo - you just get into the right headspace faster because the space tells your brain "we're working now." And when I leave and shut the door, I can actually disconnect. I'm done for the day. My laptop stays in there. I'm not in the kitchen wondering if I should be checking email. Took me seven years to figure this out, and honestly there was something valuable about the scrappiness of it all early on, like "look at this guy raising money from his kitchen" kind of had its own charm. But at some point you have to grow up and professionalize. That said, the golden photo of Mooshu in the background always worked like a charm. The Golden gang out here gets it. I'm glad we're finally here! And I need a haircut - badly!

Longevity isn’t about living longer at any cost, it’s about living better for longer. Yet, the gap between healthspan and lifespan in the US is the highest in the world and has grown to over 12 years. This gap is 29% higher than the global average and means that, in general, we are living over a decade of life in a diseased state. I spend a lot of time thinking about how this shift from reactive to proactive care is evolving and what emerging strategies from the elite performance world can be applied to accelerate this transition. The focus becomes less about how long can we live, and more on how long can we maintain strength, cognition, metabolic health, and independence? I’m really looking forward to this conversation with three outstanding people operating in this space.
