I would like to start a "non commercial" working group to discuss about AI and how PMI chapter operations can benefit from the advances in the industry. This is not focused on AI and project management, but AI and PMI local chapters. Time commitment would be 2 x 45 minutes meetings a month + some research on the side. She outlined the four personality types: Stabilizer, Connector, Improver, and Doer. Dale emphasized the significance of passion and core values, revealing that 70% of a person's values are tied to their personality type. She highlighted how things misaligned with our values can trigger anger, helping us discover what we truly love. Claude Scher liked thisClaude Scher liked thisMy internship ended Friday. I've started this post four times since then. Not because there wasn't enough to say. Because there was too much, and most of it doesn't compress well. I spent this summer as an Enterprise Architecture Intern at Veolia North America. I came in expecting diagrams and documentation. That turned out to be the smallest part of it. The technical half first. I got to watch architectural decisions get made at a scale where they actually matter. Whether services talk through direct calls or through a message broker. Whether you decompose into microservices or accept a monolith a small team can still reason about. Which cloud you commit to, and how much of your architecture quietly becomes unportable the moment you do. None of these have a correct answer. They have a correct answer for this organization, at this size, with this team, on this timeline. Get them right and nobody notices, because things keep working. Get them wrong and you don't find out for five years, when every new feature costs three times what it should and nobody can explain why. This summer I watched the decisions that create technical debt, before they became debt. The non-technical half was the harder half. Rationalization work means asking people whether something they built still needs to exist. That is a harder conversation than it sounds, and it is not a technical one. Systems carry history. The person across from you built it under constraints you were not there for, and the answer you need is usually in that history rather than in the documentation. What the work taught me was to separate the system from the person who owns it, and to make it obvious I was doing that. Not a soft skill. It determines whether you get the real answer or the safe one, and the real answer is the entire point of the exercise. That work only matters if what the organization does with it matters. This is where the role and I lined up. Veolia's work is ecological transformation. Water, waste, energy. The infrastructure that has to keep functioning whether or not anyone is thinking about it. I went in knowing that mattered to me. What the summer gave me was the operational reality behind it, and the distance between a commitment and the systems that carry it out. Three people made this what it was. Leonid de la Cruz, who gave me real ownership from the first week, put me in rooms that mattered, and expected me to contribute in them. That standard is why I grew as much as I did. Anissa Le Breton, for the context, the patience with every question, and for making the day to day genuinely good. Every strong team has someone who quietly makes the whole thing work. That was her. Jordan Hamil, SHRM-CP, who reached out, ran my interview, and opened this door before I knew it was there. None of the rest happens without that first message. Thank you, Veolia | North America. On to what's next.

My mother - Sylvie - has always inspired me to dream bigger, push further, and be braver. Tackling Africa's highest mountain together was a powerful reminder of that. None of this would have been possible without the exceptional Tanzanian team whose dedication made every step safe—especially that final push to the summit. That gratitude runs deep.

Claude Scher liked thisClaude Scher liked thisI’m thrilled to share that I’ve officially wrapped up my summer internship as a Project Coordinator Intern with Veolia | North America! Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to support a divestiture project and gain valuable insight into enterprise project management. I worked on auditing software licenses, analyzing application usage, and partnering with Business Analysts to draft Business Requirement Documents—giving me a front-row seat to the corporate project lifecycle. One of the highlights of my summer was designing and prototyping an AI agent to automate RAID log tracking. This challenged me to navigate stringent AI security and compliance frameworks while strengthening my technical analysis and problem-solving skills. A huge thank you to the entire team for the mentorship, guidance, and positive energy throughout the summer—especially Michelle Brudos, SSM, GAIL, Claude Scher, and my fellow interns Preeti Joshi, Miles Royer, Delaney Griffin, and Madison Thibodeau. You all made this an incredible experience! As I head into my final semester at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to complete my degree in Business Management, I’m excited to carry what I’ve learned at Veolia into the next chapter of my career. I’m looking forward to staying connected with the incredible network I built this summer!

Looking back across four different roles, companies, and engineering disciplines, it’s surreal to see how much each experience shaped my path toward Technical Project Management. Here’s a quick walk down memory lane: Generac | Systems Engineering Intern What I did: Dived headfirst into enterprise architecture and SAP ERP data structures. Grateful for: The foundational technical baseline, learning how complex manufacturing operations run, and great mentorship. Johnson Controls | Software Engineering Intern What I did: Worked hands-on with C++ and Python supporting Smart Connected Chillers and IoT hardware. Grateful for: Proving to myself that I could write code for complex global infrastructure and speak the language of engineering teams. Northwestern Mutual | Technical Product Management & Business Analyst Intern What I did: Supported Digital Product initiatives for the Illustrations team, building user stories and driving Agile workflows. Grateful for: The ultimate turning point in my college career, this was the exact experience that inspired me to commit fully to Product & Project Management. Veolia | SAP Business Analyst & Floating PM Intern What I did: Led user story development for SAP SLP systems while stepping up into cross-functional IT Project Management responsibilities. Grateful for: High autonomy, an amazing intern cohort, and the chance to pull together every skill I’ve built over the last few years into real enterprise impact. A Bible verse that has been big on my heart the past four years is “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9 (ESV). There’s been so many changes and expectations that I had coming into college back in the fall of 2022 have been changed for the better and I’m very thankful for all of those changes! Huge thank you to every recruiter, manager, mentor, teammate, and fellow intern who invested in me along the way. I couldn't have asked for a better final chapter than my time at Veolia | North America! Next up: graduating this spring from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with my B.S. in Information Science & Technology! 🎓 Stay tuned, more to come soon on what full-time post-grad life will look like!
