Bill Campbell shared thisCongratulations to Barefoot Media client Moises on bringing Charlie Puth on as Chief Music Officer. It’s exciting to see one of today’s most talented songwriters and producers step into a role that directly connects artists with the technology shaping the future of music creation. What I have always appreciated about Moises is their clear focus on building tools for artists and creators — helping musicians analyze, learn, remix, and experiment with music in ways that expand creativity rather than replace it. The future of AI in music will be defined by platforms that empower creators, and Moises continues to be a leader of that vision. Congrats to the entire team at Moises and welcome Charlie! https://lnkd.in/eE6HapVgCharlie Puth joins AI music creation platform Moises as Chief Music OfficerCharlie Puth joins AI music creation platform Moises as Chief Music Officer

Bill Campbell reposted thisWe are excited to join the journey of leading haptics firm Haply Robotics, who just closed their Seed Plus funding round to continue and expand Physical AI’s Sense of Touch. Sound Media Ventures led this round, and we were joined by fine fellow investors such as Amazon, Hanwha, Two Small Fish Ventures, and BDC. Haply provides Fortune 500 brands’ robots with the ability to sense the world through touch. Market segments include defense, healthcare, VR, and Robotics. Haply's proprietary technology covers 4D Haptic Controllers, Haptic Cobot Arms, and the Haptic Operating System that drives them. What Founding CEO Colin Gallacher and the rest of the Haply Team are doing is very differentiated: Haply's technology brings realistic touch, force, and control into digital and physical workflows. Its systems allow humans and machines to feel pressure, resistance, and interaction forces in real time, enabling more precise manipulation, safer remote operation, and more intuitive human–machine collaboration. Physical AI using Haply is better equipped to make proper decisions about its interaction with the world. And we find that rather magical. We're excited about their roadmap and look forward to collaborating with the Haply Team and their partners as Physical AI continues to grow its ability to serve humanity. #Entrepreneurship #PhysicalAI #RobotsBill Campbell reposted thisWe’re excited to share a major milestone for Haply Robotics. We’ve completed a first close of CAD $16m (USD $11.75) for our Seed Plus round to accelerate the adoption of the missing sensory layer of Physical AI: Touch. The round was led by Sound Media Ventures, with participation from the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund, Hanwha Asset Management Venture Fund, returning investor BDC Capital’s Industrial Innovation Fund, Two Small Fish Ventures, AngelSquad and other supporters who share our long term vision. As robots move out of labs and into real world environments, seeing and thinking are not enough. 👈 To operate safely, precisely, and intuitively, machines need a sense of touch. Haply builds the interface that makes this possible, giving humans precise control over machines and enabling AI systems to learn how the physical world actually behaves. Today, 150+ enterprise customers use Haply to bring touch into real world machine interaction, turning complex systems into something humans can intuitively control. We’re deeply grateful to our investors, customers, partners, and the entire Haply team for believing in this mission and helping us reach this milestone. 🙌 🎉 🚀 #robotics #ai #artificialintelligence #physicalai #engineering #canada #startup #fundraise

Bill Campbell liked thisBill Campbell liked thisGuy Spier's letter to investors has been widely shared in recent weeks. If you haven’t read it, you should. For many, it is about Guy the investor. For me, it has long been about Guy the Mensch. We met in 2002, and he convinced me to go to Omaha the following year. Now you might think I will tell you how that changed my life. But it didn’t. At the Berkshire meeting, I told everyone about the global macro futures fund I was about to launch. They all thought I was absolutely crazy. Guy told me I should be a value investor instead. He knew me better than I knew myself. We didn’t stay close after that. But the cord never broke. In 2011, I attended the first #ValueX conference in Zurich and Klosters. And I kept coming back nearly every year. Only in recent years did I notice how much Guy has influenced me. Because he has become… better. In the sense that Warren Buffett said, “You should be a better person in the second part of your life.” The way Guy compounds goodwill in the world is magic. The way he includes everyone at a Jeffersonian dinner and makes sure there is only one conversation going on is something to watch. And when you watch someone doing that and growing, you start absorbing the lessons through osmosis. A decade later, it changes you too. On the last day of ValueX, Guy spoke to us, and it will stay with me for the rest of my days. He told us that we have to show up. Because sometimes we don’t, and we should. We are not taking it seriously. “Whatever you do, take it seriously. Take yourself seriously.” When God asks, “Where are you?” and the Shofar is being blown, it’s a call to responsibility. What are you doing with your life? Get on and do it. You might not have it next year. Like Guy said in his letter: “Live your best life.“ ---------- Wishing everyone a happy Easter. And to those celebrating: Chag Pessach kascher wesameach. Photos: Hitsch Photography. He has a sharp eye for the moment.

Long-term partnerships matter. This collaboration between MACRO and Sony Pictures Entertainment reflects a shared commitment to building a consistent pipeline of films through a combination of creative development, disciplined financing and global distribution. As the market evolves, independent studios will increasingly be defined by how effectively they integrate production, capital and distribution into a cohesive platform - an approach we've believed in for a long time. #stayMACRO https://lnkd.in/gvzM27_J

#LatinMusic #Streaming “Amid a slowdown in the growth of #US recorded music revenues, #Latin music remains a bright spot. According to the latest mid-year report from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Latin music wholesale revenues hit $490.3 million in the first half of 2025, up 5.9% year-over-year. That growth rate is more than six times as fast as overall wholesale revenues in the US, which grew 0.9% YoY to $5.59 billion in H1 2025, according to an earlier report from the #RIAA. In all, 98% of Latin music revenues came from streaming, with paid streaming accounting for $271.1 million, up 11.2% YoY. That compares to a growth rate of 6.3% YoY in paid subscription revenue for all genres in H1 2025. Free (ad-supported) streaming of Latin music brought in $174.1 million, up 0.6% YoY. In the “other streaming” category, which combines payments for digital and customized radio services under statutory licenses, including #SoundExchange distributions, revenue grew 0.5% YoY to $36.4 million.” “Latin music in the US continues to gain popularity and generate increased value thanks to the incredible artists whose music connects across language and geographical barriers with support from creative label partnerships,” said Matt Bass, VP of Research at the RIAA….” Read the article for more: #RecordedMusic #Licensing #MusicLicensing #Vinyl #Creators #Artists #Songwriters #Music #MusicBusiness #Musica #MusicIndustry #Musique #Musik #MusicBiz #RecordLabels #MusicRoyalties #USA

Today’s acquisition of IndiCue marks a transformative day for Cineverse. For the last decade, our shared vision at Cineverse has been to establish a next-generation studio specifically built to compete in the modern streaming era, this isn't an easy task and doesn't happen overnight. It happens piece by piece... Today's announcement brings us closer to fulfilling this vision. There is substantial value this acquisition brings us, it places us in a very unique position within the industry were we now control the underlying data pipes from end-to-end. This means that everything we do during the content mastering process, as it relates to metadata enrichment, can now make its way through the entire supply chain and flow all the way to the ad platform and subsequently to our back-end AI content analytics & reporting platform. Contextual advertising has been attempted by various companies over the years with limited success. A big part of their inability to bring an effective solution has been due to the highly fragmented nature of the media supply chain that precedes the monetization end-points. We believe we can solve this problem and are excited to bring cutting-edge innovation to the advertising ecosystem. A huge congratulations to the IndiCue leadership team consisting of Nicholas Frazee, John Marchesini and Yuriy Gorokhov! Congrats to the entire IndiCue team and a hearty welcome into the Cineverse family! #cineverse #matchpoint #indicue #adtech #ott #videostreaming https://lnkd.in/gySsEJbZ

AI licensing agreements like these show what’s possible when innovation and copyright go hand in hand. These deals make one thing clear: a healthy commercial AI ecosystem can, and must, be built on free-market licensing, including for AI model training. They reflect the music industry's proven track record in embracing new technologies and unlocking new revenue streams for artists. They also offer strong evidence that existing copyright frameworks work. When creators have exclusive rights and the freedom to decide how their works are used, market-led solutions emerge. Governments should take note: Do not erode copyright through blanket exceptions or mandatory schemes like levies or compulsory licences. If any action is needed, it should strengthen the licensing market, not weaken it. That means ensuring AI developers keep accurate records and disclose what content they use, so rightsholders can enforce their rights without endless litigation. Finally, the positions these companies have taken — especially their commitments to their artists — speak volumes. It’s a path forward that works for tech, creators, and fans alike. #AI #Copyright #MusicIndustry #ArtistRights #Innovation #Policy #UMG #FreeMarketSolutions #ResponsibleAI

FOX has released new technical details on its 2025 Super Bowl stream, including the 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝟬.𝟱%), percentage of 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝟰𝗞 (𝟮𝟴%), 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗖𝗗𝗡 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝟭𝟯𝟱 𝗧𝗯𝗽𝘀), and where it invested in its video workflow architecture. At the NAB Streaming Summit last month, Mayur Srinivasan, SVP of Digital Video Platform at Fox Corporation, did a tech presentation on Super Bowl LIX Streaming Insights, highlighting how FOX prepared for the event and discussed low-latency, multi-CDN selection, API optimization, mitigating potential failures, load testing, the critical role of real-time monitoring and how it worked to scale Tubi across 29 client platforms. This is the first time any broadcaster has released this level of detail for its Super Bowl stream, and Mayur tells me he released it in the hope that other broadcasters will also share these details in the future. Hopefully, Rick Cordella and the NBC Sports team can share these stats for their 2026 Super Bowl stream next year. I’ve been diving into recent 2026 predictions regarding how AI and advertising are set to dominate global content consumption. It’s a fascinating shift, but it forces me to ask: Where does Africa fit into this new blueprint? Currently, while the world moves toward sophisticated AI-driven models, traditional TV advertising remains the giant in Nigeria and across the continent. I truly believe there is a massive opportunity for platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix to adapt. By adopting ad-supported models (AVOD) specifically for the African market, they could significantly lower subscription barriers and meet the audience where they are. I am incredibly hopeful for the future of our creator economy. My goal is to see African creators not just participating, but headlining international streamers and dominating FAST channels globally. What are your thoughts? Is an ad-supported model the key to scaling streaming in Africa? 🌍🎬 https://lnkd.in/dbVUpZxM #ContentDistribution #Nollywood #StreamingServices #AfricaCreatorEconomy #DigitalTransformation #2026Predictions

What’s one way to know your prediction hits the mark? When @faultline’s @ Tommy Flanagan writes “we wholeheartedly agree.” In his latest issue, Tommy ponders an important question about the growth of short-form content: will its adoption go behind tier-1 broadcasters to niches streamers? I’d argue AI-driven shorts are a necessity for niche and tier-1s alike who want to compete (and win) against the creator economy. The reality is, viewers need more reasons to stay engaged within broadcasters’ ecosystems. AI-driven shorts give them the velocity and intelligence needed to break viewers’ habits of scrolling through their TikTok feed, and instead staying within their O&O platforms. Simply put, the conversation has moved beyond how to participate in the creator economy to where that economy lives. In 2026, the streaming wars will pivot from a battle over library depth to a fight for the discovery funnel. What do you think?

Breaking: Virgin Music Group closes $775M acquisition of Downtown Music Holdings: A seismic shift in the indie music landscape! After months of regulatory scrutiny and industry debate, Universal Music Group's Virgin Music Group has finalized its purchase of Downtown, bringing together powerhouse platforms like FUGA, CD Baby, and Songtrust under one roof. This serves 5,000+ clients and 4M+ creators across 145 countries. Key Leadership Moves: - Pieter van Rijn (ex-Downtown CEO) → COO of Virgin Music Group - Justin Kalifowitz steps away as founder - Andrew Bergman → Senior Advisor role The Rocky Road: EU regulators probed competition risks, leading to a full divestiture of Downtown's Curve platform. Cleared on Feb 13 – but IMPALA warns of narrowing indie options. This underscores the indie distribution consolidation wave. Artists owning masters? Great. But fewer pipelines to market? A red flag for creator choice. What does this mean for talent managers, indie labels, and emerging artists in India and Dubai? Wider global reach or less competition? Thoughts? #MusicIndustry #IndieMusic #M&A #TalentManagement #MediaBusiness

Music Education is severely lacking in the UK. Investment has been declining for years and with limited Govt focus it’s important for all stakeholders in music to play their part in ensuring that music education is available to all young people. That’s why The O2 has developed a new music education programme, which is designed to empower young people through music, providing more opportunities that support learning, development and social inclusion. Having funded a successful pilot earlier this year, AEG Global Partnerships - International is now looking for a brand partner to invest and help shape the direction of this programme. Everyone assumes content distribution is automated. It’s not. If you work across #TVOD, #FAST, #AVOD, or #SVOD and haven’t seen how avails are actually distributed, you’d be shocked at how manual the process still is. Excel files flying back and forth. Partner templates. Constant updates. Human error everywhere. Matthew Carter and Vincent Muscarella break down why this legacy workflow slows licensing and delays revenue for the entertainment industry. The industry deserves better. #Helix #WhipMedia

It was great to chat about Concord with Jack Sweeney for the CFO Thought Leader podcast. IP law and rights structures are a complicated yet very necessary element of what we do on a daily basis – ensuring that the artists, songwriters, playwrights, and other creators we work with are paid fairly and expediently. At Concord, we care about protecting music and the creators who pour their heart and soul into its creation. (https://lnkd.in/e_3CJkHD)

Which is better: Gut or Data? Getting the balance right is crucial. But how does that happen? Carlos Quintanilla Sakar, VP of Original Productions for Sony Pictures Entertainment in Latin America and US Hispanic Markets, shared more about our approach with “TV Latina.” “Data can never be seen as a GPS; it should be seen as a compass.” → Data helps us reinforce direction and market a show, but it should always be paired with real experience. Gut instinct and data work best together. “Data can only give you ideas, possibilities, a creative trigger, but it shouldn't be a creative policeman.” → Exactly. Data should inspire, not dictate. We can use it as a tool to enrich great ideas and help them resonate with audiences. “It's really nice when you offer [a production] to a distribution partner and they say, 'This is just what I was looking for.' Well, yes, we did our homework first.” → That’s what sets us apart. We combine market insight, audience understanding, and creative vision to deliver stories that truly connect. At the end of the day, data is a powerful tool — but storytelling is an art.
