Benjamin Ward, AIA liked thisBenjamin Ward, AIA liked thisI am proud to announce that we have recently closed a $53 million funding round, which is a major inflection point for Hopscotch. Today we serve more than 15,000 patients in the Southeast, focused in western North Carolina across 12 clinical hubs. This funding gives us the ability to take a model that is working and bring it to more of the country, with an immediate focus on expanding our presence in the Southeastern U.S. Since our founding, we have shown that rural primary care delivered directly and operated with compassion and discipline can work, and can work profitably. Our clinics reach profitability in roughly 14 months, far faster than the norm for practices like ours. Disciplined operations and profitable operations are a prerequisite for creating a sustainable model, and that’s what we’re delivering. To serve patients and serve them well, the economics must work for all stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem. We are dramatically reducing medical expenditures and helping patients avoid unnecessary hospitalizations at a pace that compares favorably to the best-run practices in the country, urban or rural. And we do it while spending a fraction of what urban primary care groups typically spend to bring in new patients, because the need in our communities is so acute that patients come to us when they hear about us through family, friends, and neighbors. Our vision for Hopscotch over the next two years is straightforward: continue to be the best primary care option in rural America, full stop, and build a company that clinicians and business professionals alike are proud to be part of. Rural America does not need another pilot program or another vendor promising to fix things from a distance. It needs organizations willing to hire the people, build the infrastructure, and stay. That is what we intend to keep doing, in more communities, for more patients, for as long as it takes. Benjamin Ward, AIA liked thisBenjamin Ward, AIA liked thisAfter two years with the Greenville Healthcare team at McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, I am off to my next adventure. With the encouragement, guidance, and support of this incredible team and company, I am returning to Clemson University this fall to pursue my Master of Architecture. When I graduated from Clemson with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, I knew I wanted to spend my first two years in practice before returning to school. I am incredibly grateful that those two years were spent at MPS. During my time at MPS, I was given countless opportunities to learn, grow, and take on new challenges as a young designer. I had the opportunity to work alongside talented architects and designers, contribute to meaningful healthcare projects, and gain a deeper understanding of how thoughtful design can have a lasting impact on people’s lives. Most importantly, I am grateful for the people who made these two years so special. To the MPS Greenville Healthcare team: thank you for welcoming me, teaching me, challenging me, and supporting me throughout this chapter. I will carry the lessons, experiences, and friendships I gained at MPS with me into my next chapter. While saying goodbye is bittersweet, I am excited to return to Clemson, continue my education, and keep growing as a designer and future architect. Thank you, MPS, for an incredible two years.
