Richards PreK-8 School in Christiansted, St. Croix. This new school reflects the first new first new building constructed in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 27 years and now stands as the largest school in the Territory for the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE). It serves as a milestone achievement for students, educators, and the broader St. Croix community and public school system. The significance of the new school goes well beyond its walls and sets a new benchmark for schools across the Caribbean. As the largest school in the Territory, the 139,000-square-foot campus will serve 735 students with disaster-resilient high-performance design which sets a new benchmark, replacing facilities lost to hurricanes Irma and Maria. Anthony Stark reposted thisAnthony Stark reposted thisWe're happy to share that Whittle School and Studios Suzhou has received a Special Mention in the Institutional–Primary & High School category of the 2026 Architizer A+ Awards. Set on a pastoral 7.5 ha waterfront site in Suzhou's high-speed rail new town, the Whittle School & Studios Suzhou Campus redefines the boarding school experience. Designed for 2,500 students from Pre-K–12, the purpose-built 119,000 sqm campus embodies the philosophy, "learning happens any place, all the time." The design draws on traditional Suzhou architectural elements—screens, loggias, courtyards, and gardens—reinterpreted for a modern international education campus with flexible, interdisciplinary learning spaces. We are delighted to see this award-winning campus begin its next chapter under the stewardship of Soochow University Experimental School (Senior High School). As the campus welcomes a new generation of students and educators, we wish the entire school community every success and hope these spaces continue to inspire learning, collaboration, and discovery for many years to come. We are honored to see this project recognized by the Architizer A+ Awards and even more pleased to see it continue its educational mission for generations of students to come.

By transforming New Haven's oldest freestanding commercial building into Connecticut's first PHIUS-certified historic masonry commercial renovation, this remarkable project blends historic preservation, Passive House performance, climate resilience, and community revitalization to create a model for low-carbon urban redevelopment. This exceptional project was recognized with a 2026 Green Building Impact Honor Award from BuildGreenCT. Through an innovative "building within a building" approach, the 1816 landmark now delivers near net-zero energy performance while preserving its iconic historic character. The renovation includes high-performance insulation, triple-pane windows, rooftop solar, flood-resilient infrastructure, and energy-efficient mechanical systems, creating a healthy, resilient workplace and community destination designed to serve generations to come. Congratulations to the entire project team for demonstrating how historic buildings can be thoughtfully reimagined to preserve local heritage, strengthen communities, and set a new standard for sustainable, climate-ready design. The article, titled “Bringing Class A Experiences to Class B Buildings,” outlines how developers and building owners can enhance the appeal of their office buildings by incorporating amenities commonly associated with more expensive, higher-end office leases.
