Andres Blank posted thisRecruiting has changed dramatically over the past two years. With fewer roles and more applicants, most teams are drowning in resumes—and missing out on great talent in the process. At Fetcher, we’ve been known for sourcing top passive candidates. Today, we’re excited to announce our newest product, designed to help you sort and rank inbound applicants so you can quickly see who’s right for the role. And if you don’t have enough quality applicants in your pipeline, you can seamlessly tap into our sourcing features to find and encourage the perfect people to apply. It took a ton of engineering work—integrations, resume parsing, and more—but we couldn’t be prouder of the team for making it happen. If you’re ready to navigate this new recruiting landscape more efficiently, check out the full story on our blog (link in comments) and let us know what you think.

Andres Blank reacted on thisAndres Blank reacted on thisEarlier this month, Yummy announced the acquisition of TICKETMUNDO, and we already have our first live event with the concert of Americania in Caracas. I grew up going to events in Caracas, buying tickets from Ticketmundo. I remember what it felt like. The excitement before a concert, the energy of the city. Those moments you truly never forget. Over time I've come to understand that technology doesn't exist just to make life more efficient. It exists to expand what's possible. At Yummy, our mission is to create human abundance through technology in Venezuela. And that's not just about everyday needs. It's about access. Access to move. To eat. To generate income. To make progress in life. But also, and equally important: access to live. To go to a concert. To a game. To an experience that changes you. We are building the digital consumer layer in Venezuela. The platform where the country can live its everyday life. And today we take another step in that direction. Not only to help you live better, but to help you live more.

Andres Blank reacted on thisAndres Blank reacted on thisThis week was one of the highlights of my career. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced that Boston will offer AI curriculum in September to all 25 Boston public high schools. I first wrote about this idea in Boston Magazine in August 2025, and then presented it to the Mayor two months ago, where it then rapidly spread across her team. I think Boston is the first major city to commit to teaching AI to all public high school students! This will be done in partnership with the Institute of Applied AI at UMASS Boston, starting with BPS teacher training this summer. I'm working with Ellen Rubin to form an Industry Advisory Board who will help BPS develop curriculum that is up to date and which covers both foundational theory as well as instruction in a handful of leading AI tools. I'm excited that all BPS high school students will learn how to use AI responsibly, learn about avoiding bias and hallucinations, learning how to use AI to improve their own studies, and learning how to build apps. These students will then teach their parents and their families how they can use AI. When these students get jobs in Boston, they will train their companies how to use AI. I honestly believe this will grow the Boston economy, as BPS AI-smart graduates teach their employers how to use AI to offer better products and services, and how to acquire and support more customers. From UMASS Boston, I want to especially thank Professor Wei Ding but also Marcelo M Suarez-Orozco and Joe Berger for their visionary leadership in teaching AI to all students, not just to technology students. I'm thrilled to work with Mary Skipper and Stephen Chan to turn this bold vision into reality. The most exciting part of this vision is not what us leaders are talking about this week, but instead, to see what our students invent. https://lnkd.in/e2BTKh22Boston launches push to teach every high school grad to use AI criticallyBoston launches push to teach every high school grad to use AI critically

Andres Blank reacted on thisAndres Blank reacted on thisI walked into Georgetown University's Wall Street Alliance Scholarship Dinner and was immediately reminded why this night matters so much to me. This mission is personal. Years ago, I was that first-generation college student at Georgetown, sitting on the other side of opportunity as a scholarship and financial aid recipient. Last night, I returned as a proud alum and Board Member of the Alliance — grateful, reflective, and deeply motivated by what this community makes possible. WSA is behind Georgetown’s second-largest endowed scholarship fund, valued at more than $20 million and supporting over 200 undergraduate students. Last night alone, we came together to raise $1.8 million (and counting), to further expand access and change life trajectories. The American Dream can feel harder to reach than ever, but I am living proof that education is the great equalizer. I’m honored to have had my story celebrated in this room before (https://bit.ly/4aRvza1), and humbled by those here opening doors for the next generation. #Georgetown #HoyaSaxa #Gratitude #PIMCOFutureLeaders

Andres Blank reacted on thisAndres Blank reacted on thisToday we’re introducing ClearCo the next chapter in our evolution and a clear signal of how we’re reimagining the future of talent management. It’s not just a new look or a new name. It’s a sharper expression of what we believe HR leaders deserve: clarity, connection, and the confidence to move faster in a world that’s only getting more complex. Work is changing. Talent expectations are rising. And it’s harder than ever to make confident decisions when data, workflows, and point solutions are scattered across different systems. ClearCo exists to change that. We’re building an AI- and agent-powered unified talent platform that connects the entire talent lifecycle in one place — so hiring, onboarding, performance, learning, compensation, and people insights work together, and insight turns into action. This new chapter isn’t just about our brand; it’s about our commitment to helping our clients see their workforce more clearly, understand what’s working (and what’s not), and know exactly where to focus next. We’re ready for what’s next — and we’re excited to help you lead it. Welcome to the new ClearCo. 🧡 https://okt.to/b2wkAa

I work with teams who have plenty of data but still have to decide what to change next.<br><br>In marketing, information isn’t scarce. The harder part is that signals arrive out of sync, and decisions still have to hold. Product data points one way. Growth metrics point another. Customer feedback shows up late, filtered, or after the decision was already made. Each input makes sense on its own. Together, they don’t form a clear move.<br><br>A decision still has to be made.<br><br>I’ve spent a long time working inside that tension.<br><br>Since the early 2000s, I’ve co-founded and built several SaaS companies, including Crazy Egg, KISSmetrics, and Nira. Nira was acquired by Dropbox, where I later worked on product and growth for AI products. Across all of that work, the same pattern kept showing up.<br><br>Inside larger teams, decisions often sound solid in the moment. The trouble starts later. The context behind earlier calls fades. The constraints that mattered at the time don’t travel. Reasoning gets simplified, rewritten, or lost entirely. When questions resurface, teams argue about direction instead of revisiting the original judgment.<br><br>I’m now back as CEO of Crazy Egg. The work there focuses on keeping teams close to what users actually do, especially when opinions start to harden. When user behavior stays visible, decisions tend to settle. When it disappears, debates stretch and momentum softens.<br><br>That pattern shows up across most of what I work on.<br><br>I spend a lot of time thinking about how GTM leaders make decisions when product direction, growth pressure, and market narrative pull in different directions. Information is incomplete. Costs are uneven. Timing rarely feels generous. What matters is whether a decision holds long enough for a team to move.<br><br>If you’re responsible for aligning product, growth, and messaging and feel the weight of getting it wrong, this is the layer I spend my time in.

Today we officially kick off our $2M pre seed round for Salubrum (Backed by Forum Ventures), supported by Forum Ventures, Coeus Collective Ventures, and Draper House Americas. Healthcare companies spend over $30B a year trying to acquire patients. The problem is not media. The problem is timing. Every time a patient approaches a healthcare decision a moment opens. Which doctor to see. Which procedure to pursue. Which treatment to start. For the companies involved in that decision, knowing that moment exists is incredibly valuable. Salubrum (Backed by Forum Ventures) is building the intelligence layer that maps those decision moments across the U.S. patient population. Our system aggregates large healthcare datasets covering 300M+ patient identities and uses them to predict when individuals are approaching important healthcare decisions. That signal can then be used by providers, pharma companies, payers, and other healthcare organizations trying to reach patients at the right time. Our first wedge is patient acquisition for healthcare providers and brands, but the underlying intelligence layer has much broader applications wherever patient behavior influences economic decisions. Over the past months we have quietly built the foundation. • Early pilots validating our patient intent scoring system • Distribution partnerships forming across healthcare platforms • Backed by Forum Ventures, Coeus Collective Ventures, Draper House Americas, NEXT Canada and Metta World Peace Starting tomorrow we will be meeting investors as part of the Forum Ventures showcase. If you are an investor interested in building with us get in touch. Calendly: https://lnkd.in/e5j-VvGC Investor Memo: https://lnkd.in/e5HyemAp

I’m thrilled to officially announce our $3M seed investment in Propel People, a company we built inside the 1848 Ventures studio to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing the #construction industry today: the skilled #labor shortage. For small and medium-sized contractors, hiring isn't just a challenge. It's the number one threat to their growth, profitability, and safety. With 94% of contractors struggling to find qualified workers, it’s clear that traditional hiring methods aren't built for the trades. That’s why we built Propel People. It’s a mobile-first, AI-powered hiring platform designed for how construction actually works: in the field. By leveraging smart candidate ranking, instant #SMS-based screening, and a fully #bilingual interface, Propel helps contractors build great crews faster and more efficiently. I’m also thrilled to formally announce that industry veteran Dexter Bachelder is at the helm as CEO. Having worked with Dexter and the team over the last few months, we've already seen the impact of his leadership. His 25 years of experience scaling construction tech companies will be instrumental as Propel People enters this initial stage of growth. This investment reinforces our core thesis at 1848 Ventures: building AI-native companies that solve fundamental pain points for the #SMBs that form the backbone of our economy. A huge congratulations to Dexter and the entire Propel People team on this milestone. We are incredibly proud to partner with you to support the people who build our world. Read the full announcement below. #constructiontech #venturecapital #seedfunding #ai #skilledtrades #smb

This week Tulip Interfaces became Acequia Capital's 23rd unicorn company. When we made the first investment into Tulip in 2015, it was clear to Hank and I that we were early. It was going to take some time, but that massive legacy industries had no idea the amount of innovation and value was out there, waiting to be won by companies that could master software and machine intelligence. These observations and others led us to develop two investment theses we’ve been executing on since; what we termed “New Industrials.” Fast forward 10 years and the idea that a broader industrial reinvention is underway is now almost a given across the capital markets and leading companies. A movement has sprung up around us. It’s much more in vogue to back physical technology startups now, but most investors misunderstand what great ones look like, and how numerous the barriers to adoption are. We’re fortunate to benefit from a decade of lessons and insights from watching up close as incredible founding teams have built immensely valuable organizations, these include Stoke Space, Radiant, Formlabs, Atomic Industries, Applied Atomics, Harbinger, Dirac, Inc., Rainmaker Technology Corporation, AnySignal, EthonAI, Flow Engineering, Milvus Advanced, Rivelin Robotics, Adaptyv, KMB Telematics Inc., Tactian, Nimble Precision, sensmore, Hyperdrives, Ethos Space Resources, Antaris, TransAstra, Rightbot Technologies, Provectus Algae, Arctoris, Flexe, Coronal Technologies, Exapto, Visolis, Vorticity Inc., XENOPS AI, and many others. My takeaway from 10 years of investing in industrial reinvention is that we are still at the beginning. We have a long way to go and the next 10 years will move a lot faster than the last. Thanks to our founders for the continued trust and partnership.

🚨NEW EPISODE: Recorded live at FUTURE TITANS 2026 - Jeff Perry of Carta sat down with the iconic Seth Levine, co-founder of Foundry. Seth has been in venture for 25 years, built Foundry from scratch as an emerging manager himself, and has backed about 50 emerging manager funds through his fund of funds. He has genuinely seen every side of this table. They went deep on building Foundry, why VCs are in the influence business, not the decision business, and why the concentration problem in venture is not only bad for LPs, but also for the innovation ecosystem overall. And why Seth's new book, Capital Evolution, is so important for the future of America. 🎧 Links to listen... Apple: https://lnkd.in/ehQUQ2EM Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eU4FExpg

After exploding on the scene in 2019, Pipe has been heads-down building the world's best embedded financial solutions for small businesses. Yesterday's announcement about their partnership with Uber is another amazing milestone from Luke Voiles and his team. Pipe is teaming up with Uber Eats to add their embedded technology to the company’s restaurant manager app, and eligible restaurants will see pre-approved capital offers from Pipe that are customized based on the businesses’ revenue and cash flow. Financing can flow in as little as 24 hours. As we often say at MaC Venture Capital talent is ubiquitous--especially within those SMB entrepreneurs around the world--but access to capital is not. Pipe is changing that with amazing speed. Well done!

Thrilled to announce that Together Fund is investing in Sentra, alongside a16z speedrun! You track results in Jira. Decisions in Notion. Conversations in Slack. But the reasoning, the debates, trade-offs, and context behind why you chose A over B, disappears into what we call "Dark Matter." A decision made in March looks insane by July because no one remembers the constraints that made it smart. I lived this firsthand at Twitter scaling from 800 to 8,000 employees, and at Google while launching AI Overviews to billions at planet scale. The problem isn't process. Process is compensation for something deeper: organizational amnesia. An organization’s "Systems of Record" doesn’t solve this, they encode it. They store what happened, never why. That's why we are investing in Sentra. Sentra is the always-on collective memory that eliminates organizational amnesia by maintaining accurate context for all members and agents, functioning as an operational nervous system. It connects to every channel where work happens, meetings, Slack, email, code commits, docs, calendars, and treats them not as artifacts to search, but as living signals to synthesize. The fleeting and the permanent, unified into a memory that understands. The founding team is built for this: - Jae Gwan Park (CEO): Product-first founder, memory systems research at UofT and MIT - Ashwin Gopinath (CSO): Former MIT professor, created "Reflexion" (NeurIPS 2023), agents that learn from mistakes, 2x founder - Andrey Starenky (CTO): Early Vapi engineer, ex-IBM, built to process enterprise-scale data firehose Together is an operator-led fund. We invest in problems we've lived. This is one of them. Many congrats Jae, Ashwin and Andrey, we are so excited to partner with you! What does it take to create speed in a regulated industry? For Allie Carey, Chief Strategy Officer at SEI, it meant designing a system that could turn hundreds of ideas into real ventures (without adding chaos). Over three years, she: • Built a culture of experimentation across SEI. • Launched a company-wide innovation contest (with real stakes). • Narrowed 30 ideas down to 10 pitches, to 2 experiments, to 1 live business. • Took one idea from concept to paying customers in just 18 months. We tried something new this week on Beyond The Core and built her full playbook live. It’s how SEI increased decision speed, improved throughput, and built a pipeline of repeatable ventures. I recently sat down with Josh R., Co-Founder & CEO of Gusto, for a fireside chat at Afore Capital's Pre-Seed Summit. Gusto is a testament to solid fundamentals. We partnered at the Series B over a decade ago (Jason Green). Since then, they've steadily built a business that's amassed more ARR than Cursor, Lovable, and Harvey combined, is executing profitably, making accretive acquisitions and integrating the latest in GenAI to improve their stack. Here are 5 tips Josh shared for early-stage founders with similar goals: 1. Start with co-founder selection, not the problem Unlike most founders who begin by identifying a problem to solve, Josh prioritized finding co-founders based on relationship quality and complement. The investment in those relationships has paid dividends—their families are so close that the founders' moms have a group text thread. 2. Problem authenticity accelerates product-market fit Josh and his co-founders had experienced payroll pain firsthand at previous startups. I've observed this same pattern repeatedly with portfolio founders who reach PMF fastest. Austin Hughes at Unify knew the GTM space from his work at Ramp. Eric S. Yuan was VP of Engineering at Webex before founding Zoom. Authentic problem experience creates both passion and expertise that compound over time. 3. Sequence your biggest risks first When Josh started Gusto, he took a methodical approach to de-risking. Before burning cash on frontend or go-to-market, they built the backend systems—tax calculations, payments, and all the complex infrastructure. Then they manually tested these systems at friends' companies to validate that they worked before building front end. This sequential risk management helped proved technical feasibility before they committed resources elsewhere. 4. Don't trust surface-level competitive analysis Payroll looked terrifying from the outside. ADP, Paychecks, and Intuit all dominated SMB, while Zenefits was an aggressive upstart. But when Josh dug deeper, a different picture emerged: the incumbents combined only had 50% market share, and 40% of SMBs were still doing payroll manually. Markets often have more white space than initial analysis suggests. 5. Find why you can win the untapped market Identifying opportunity is one thing. Capturing it requires a superior go-to-market motion or a better product than incumbents. Josh developed both over time. The question every founder should answer: "Why can we tap the market segment the established players have left behind?"

Dear early stage founders --- getting customer introductions from your investors is bad for your company 👀 If you have initial PMF and are in the process of scaling up, you shouldn't lean on introductions from investors because most of these are a waste of time and they typically don't help you accelerate for the next phase. What you actually need: 1️⃣ figure out how to land a meeting with a stranger through the right marketing / cold outreach 2️⃣ leverage existing customers to get referrals from folks they believe can get value out of your product (note: different from investor intro) 3️⃣ build your sales process through the learnings PS: This ofcourse doesn't include super early companies looking for their first few design partners OR late stage companies (proven GTM at scale) looking to get into target accounts. ✌ Totally agree with leveraging your network for these 2 use cases ^^ But everyone else -- get to experimenting with telling your story and selling your product using cold outreach! ✅ Your future self will thank you! 🔑 #founders #investors #VCs #operatingpartner

Most investors don't know how to underwrite the first 20% of risk in a physical infrastructure project. Not because it's unknowable, but because the frameworks were built for SaaS multiples and software margins. When the asset is a network of intelligent nodes deployed across a metropolitan region, the spreadsheet looks different. Tomorrow I'm joining Surge, a Public Benefit Corporation CEO Miguel Jaramillo for their Town Hall to work through exactly this. We'll get into what it actually takes to evaluate intelligent infrastructure as an investable asset class, including deployment economics, capital structure, and how to think about returns when the value compounds in the physical world. If you've been watching the AI infrastructure buildout from the sidelines, this is the session to come get oriented. 📅 Wednesday, March 4 · 4PM CST 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gwCzVbp6 #Surge #AIInfrastructure #AlternativeAssets #EdgeComputing

Today I'm presenting to The Council Angels' latest cohort, focused on product leaders. They're on week 6 of our angel investing 101 curriculum. By now, it's becoming more clear to most of them whether angel investing is likely to be a hobby or an accelerator into to a future career in VC. My biggest advice to those who want a career in VC someday is to build their own proprietary flywheel for deal flow. It may start with angel communities and syndicates, but eventually putting in the work to build their own sourcing mechanism will make them very attractive candidates! I love to highlight these 4 who have masterfully executed this pole vault into VC: ⭐ Ruffin Mitchener: (TikTok → MALIAM) ⭐ Sri Varre (Lazy Girl Capital → Pivotal VC) ⭐ Zehra Naqvi (The Z List → Headline VC → founder of Lore) ⭐ Michelle F. (SF IRL on X → Headline VC) #angelinvesting #venturecapital #risingstars

Seed VC isn’t just in a downturn—it’s facing extinction unless it evolves fast. Great read from Rob Go & David Beisel at NextView Ventures... - YC and mega-funds now dominate the early-stage landscape, squeezing out traditional seed investors - Power law thinking has gone mainstream—everyone’s chasing trillion-dollar outliers - AI isn’t helping seed VCs—it’s raising the stakes, crowding the field, and disrupting VC itself - The middle of the market has collapsed, and excess profits are gone - Hope isn’t a strategy—seed needs a new model, now Link here... https://lnkd.in/ek2MZGhm And if you like this topic, I wrote a piece on venture bifurcating into inception funds and mega funds here: https://lnkd.in/eJz5DmX6 #ai #venturecapital #vc

“A great co-founder relationship is like steering a ship together—you both have your hands on the wheel, and if you’re not aligned, you’ll drift off course. Authenticity, transparency, and trust aren’t optional—they’re everything.” –Tanis Jorge A huge thank you to Tanis Jorge for joining our recent Founders Network global keynote! As a serial entrepreneur and expert on co-founder dynamics, Tanis shared heartfelt insights on what makes—or breaks—the most important relationship in a startup. She reminded us that beyond metrics and milestones, true success often comes down to the human connection between founders. When nurtured with honesty and empathy, that partnership can become one of the most meaningful relationships you’ll ever have—regardless of the company’s outcome. Tanis, thank you for your wisdom, optimism, and for reminding our community that great partnerships build not just strong companies, but lifelong bonds. #FoundersNetwork #CoFounders #StartupJourney #FounderWisdom #Leadership #Entrepreneurship #StartupLessons #TanisJorge #BuildingTogether #GlobalKeynote
