Alyene Schneidewind shared thisI started my day with this inspiring read on the state of AI, by Matt Schumer. The single biggest advantage any leader has right now is being early. Early to understand AI. Early to use it. Early to adapt. Work is fundamentally changing, and there’s a brief window where most companies are still underestimating the shift. If you think AI is just an email assistant, you’re already behind. Here’s how leaders get ahead: 1. Shift your mindset. The most important skillset right now isn’t technical. It’s adaptability. Curiosity. Experimentation. No ego. Your value isn’t in manually doing the work. It’s in directing it, interpreting it, and deciding what happens next. 2. Push AI into the 'real work." Pay attention to the person using AI to run an analysis in an hour instead of days - they are the ones to watch. On a personal note, start using it with the hardest, most time-consuming part of your job. If it “kind of works,” iterate. The trajectory only moves one direction. 3. Rethink talent. Ask yourself: what superpower does this person bring? What edge do they uniquely create? When AI can replicate tasks, differentiation shifts to judgment, context, courage, and connection. It's not about replacing the workforce. It's about redefining it with human + digital. Early is an advantage. Staying early is a discipline.

Alyene Schneidewind reacted on thisAlyene Schneidewind reacted on thisThis might help you if you are trying to be there for friends or work colleagues who are going through hard or tragic times: For me, so many wonderful people have reached out (literally thousands) over the last 2 months and said "just checking in - how are you doing?" That on it's own is such a gift. It's amazing to wake up in the morning and feel supported. And I try to answer them honestly. For example, right now, I'm feeling a lot of joy and am excited about some startup ideas, fun travel, friends, etc. And the grief creeps up when I least expect it. But it's ok - the grief for me is a reminder of my love for my daughter. And I don't ever want to lose that. When I share this answer with friends and I ask how they are doing, most respond with a more pithy "I'm doing great!" Those that take it further open up about themselves, braving the world of vulnerability. And I can understand why folks don't always do it. Maybe they aren't feeling anything strongly now. Maybe they are and it's too hard to talk about. Maybe they're busy. Or maybe they are worried to share because they think their challenges are relatively insignificant (they aren't - in my view, all emotions, joy and suffering matter equally). Those that cross this threshold are incredible. They make me feel so much less alone. So when you check in on a friend, an interesting question is whether it would serve you and them to be real with how you're doing too. It's not a recommendation (everyone's life is different) - just a thought.

In 2025, layoffs, automation, and job-hugging defined the labor market, with many employees determined to cling to their roles. Yet one group emerged as a surprising exception… board directors. 391 directors stepped down from their positions, compared with just 100 departures in 2024. The last five years have reshaped the way we live and work. A recent Gallup report highlights 12 key ways workplaces have transformed, from the rise of #remote and hybrid work to more sobering trends like declining #employee engagement and a growing #mental health crisis.
