A recent HRDirector article explores “careerfishing” the growing trend of candidates exaggerating skills to land roles. But this is not just a candidate problem. It is a system problem. When hiring relies heavily on resumes and interviews, it creates a gap between perception and reality. And that gap does not show up until after the hire. Research shows nearly a third of new hire success is shaped in the first few weeks on the job, not during the hiring process. That is where things break down. If expectations are unclear or capability is overestimated, the result is early disengagement, performance issues, and turnover. This is where careerfishing and onboarding connect. Hiring may get people in the door, but onboarding determines whether they succeed. Organizations seeing better outcomes are focused on: ✔️ Looking beyond self-reported experience ✔️ Setting clear expectations from day one ✔️ Building onboarding that drives confidence and performance The real risk is not just who you hire. It is whether your process is strong enough to support them once they arrive. What drives new hire success in industrial roles? It is not just who you hire. It is how you onboard them. Recent research shows that the onboarding experience is the number one factor influencing new hire success. The first few weeks play a critical role in helping employees feel prepared, supported, and connected to their teams. Yet onboarding is often treated as a process rather than an experience. Organizations that invest in structured, supportive onboarding are better positioned to improve retention, performance, and long-term success. A recent article from ETHRWorld highlights how candidate experiences, from first interaction through to day one, shape how employees perceive an organization. It reinforces something we see consistently: 👉 The onboarding experience doesn’t start on day one. It starts during hiring. At Talogy, our research with 800+ industrial hiring professionals found that onboarding is the number one driver of new hire success, impacting productivity, safety, and retention. But improving onboarding isn’t about one moment. It’s about designing a connected experience across the entire journey. That means: • Creating clarity and consistency from application to offer • Delivering role-specific, practical training • Embedding safety and compliance from the start • Using technology to support, not replace, human connection When these elements come together, onboarding becomes more than a process. It becomes a foundation for long-term performance. 📖 Read our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/eVY-Kzc5 #itstartswithtalogy #Talogy #TalogyInsights

At the Early Careers event with IHR - In-house Recruitment, Ali Shalfrooshan shared four traits from our latest research on High Potential that continue to stand out even as AI reshapes the workplace. High performance is not the same as high potential. High performers deliver in their role. High potentials think bigger, connect ideas, and focus on what comes next. So what defines high potential talent? ✅ Aspiration – the drive to grow and lead ✅ Agility – the ability to adapt and learn in new situations ✅ Capacity – the capability to handle greater complexity ✅ Commitment – a focus on impact beyond the individual role AI is changing how we work. But potential is still human. #HighPotential #LeadershipDevelopment #TalentStrategy #FutureOfWork #AI #Talogy
