Duke Energy Corporation recently received FAA approval to operate up to four drones with a single pilot Beyond Visual Line of Sight (𝐁𝐕𝐋𝐎𝐒). After receiving approval, our UAS training team led a three-week training program to equip our Enterprise Security personnel to use dock-based drones to protect critical infrastructure, seamlessly integrating them into daily dock-based operations. This major step forward in Duke Energy's use of technology will help to protect the energy grid and prevent potential threats. Congratulations to Danielle Grace and Koby Hansen on this achievement. This significant undertaking was made possible by the dedication of our exceptional training team. I extend my sincere appreciation to Garrett Scott, Robert Branch, and David Garcia for their outstanding contributions. 𝘞𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘯!

The Omaha Police Department is continuing to scale our aviation layered approach with #OPDABLE1 and our Drone as a First Responder #DFR program under the leadership of Todd Schmaderer and Scott Gray. Recently we added two more #SkydioX10docks to our robust fleet, in our effort to continue leveraging technology growth to better serve the men and women of the Omaha Police Department and the City of Omaha. The #Skydio team has been working hard to assist with the ongoing expansion. Adam Bry Skydio Tyler Friend Laila Kimiagar Joshua Mack

What does the pathway look like from shiny new toy to core operational tool? That’s the trajectory drones have seemingly taken in many utility operations, highlighting that the hype was real an the future is now. On this episode of Power Perspectives, host Matthew Chester goes behind the scenes with three members of Skydio's utility team to show why drones have graduated from novelty to mission-critical infrastructure. In this conversation, Christina Park, PE Park (Senior Director, Energy Strategy), Suchet Bargoti (Director of Inspection and Mapping), and Cooper Linn (Senior Product Manager) walk through real-world utility deployments, the field-driven product choices that mattered, and how autonomy is changing inspection workflows. Skydio’s case studies highlight how drone deployments have moved from proving concepts to operational scale: the shift to “drones as infrastructure,” the importance of engineers riding along on field missions, and the evolution from broad 3D semantic scans to efficient, asset-based inspection workflows that actually save crews time and prevent outages. Link the episode in the comments below! Give a listen this weekend and share a comment or question with our guests

Another example of the Skydio X10 thermal capabilities. This big push for DFR works great for financially gifted agencies who have a smaller footprint, but when your city is 104 square miles with a rapidly deteriorating budget, there's still a place for drones in the back seat of a cop car.

Listen to this 911 call, then watch how it all comes together. In Dearborn, Michigan, officers responded to a larceny suspect fleeing a mall. With live 911 insights through Prepared and support from Axon Air and Skydio Drone as First Responder, they tracked the suspect onto a bus and made a safe arrest. From call to closure, connected technologies gave officers real-time visibility and coordination every step of the way. Dearborn Police Department is among the first agencies to give officers live access to 911 call data, helping them make faster, more informed decisions in critical moments. Proud to support their commitment to safer communities. #Axon #ProtectLife

As Skydio supports Canadian communities with our flying robot solutions for Drone as a First Responder (DFR), site security, and inspection, I think it’s critical to show the technology working in the field. This past Monday, at the Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre, we conducted a technology showcase with Rogers Business and Ericsson. We flew the Skydio X10 for overwatch from the stadium’s Security Operations Centre (SOC) over Rogers 5G SA network slicing for first responders. Imagine the network like a loaf of sliced bread, where a few slices are dedicated solely to public safety to maintain critical communications, regardless of the load on the slices used by the general public. This ensures public safety stays connected when it matters most. The live footage was viewed by public safety and community leaders from across Canada. This event culminated in months of testing to ensure the network’s reliability in keeping cutting edge public safety devices, like the Skydio X10, Axon body cameras, and first responder cell phones, connected, even when the streets and stadium are full of people and devices. With Skydio Connect Fusion, we fuse multiple streams (radio + cellular) into one powerful river of connectivity, that has multiple redundancies to extend range and maintain video streaming. On a dedicated network slice, it works even better. Combined with Skydio Autonomy on the X10, this allows operators to fly closer to and between buildings, rather than high above them, getting the camera where it needs to be as quickly as possible. Cheers to John Chell (Retired NYPD Chief) for joining us in Toronto this week to share stories, and watch some baseball, while discussing his experience using Skydio’s game changing technology in New York, and how similar Canadian communities can do the same. Town of Ramapo Police…114 followers

Big day for the Ramapo Police Department. Today, Skydio technicians installed new X10 DFR docks at two of our Drone as a First Responder sites, marking another major step forward in our DFR program. We remain the only law enforcement agency in Rockland County currently operating a DFR program, and we’re not slowing down. With these additions, we are moving toward four (4) fully operational DFR dock locations across the Town of Ramapo. This technology allows us to get eyes on a scene faster, make better decisions in real time, and ultimately keep both our officers and our community safer. This is what modern policing looks like. Proactive. Technology driven. Focused on saving lives. More to come.
