Did you know SEPTA has a solar farm in Franklin County, PA called Elk Hill? Elk Hill has a massive 42 MW capacity and produces up to 64 GWh of electricity per year which is enough to offset about 16% of SEPTA’s annual electricity needs! All #SEPTA trains, subways, and trolleys are fully electric so solar helps us keep commutes extra clean. Elk Hill was planted with grazing and pollinator-friendly seed mixes that contain native wildflowers and clover species. Our partners at Lightsource bp are working with a local farmer to graze sheep and manage the vegetation under and around the solar panels. 🐑 Supporting the development of renewable energy in Pennsylvania is an added way we can deepen our positive environmental impact and achieve our sustainability goals. #ISEPTAPHILLY #RideDontDrive #EarthMonth

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) reposted this
We recently installed new full-height fare gates at Cecil B. Moore Station on the B, right near Temple University, and I wanted to see firsthand how they’re working. The early data is promising - fare evasion is down considerably, which is exactly the return we’re aiming for with this investment. That’s not to say things are perfect, and some people still find a way to enter without paying. I saw that reality up close this morning after spending 90 minutes on the platform. It’s also why I was glad our Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) Transit Police were right there addressing it in real time. This isn’t an easy problem, but we are taking it on. While I was there, I kept up my listening tour - talking with high school, college, and law students, a Philadelphia city employee, a mom, a newer transplant from Ohio, a college professor, and others. Different perspectives, but a shared message: riders want a system that feels clean, safe and reliable every day. I heard about the frustration with smoking, and a strong desire for better real-time information. I also heard that public transit needs sustained investment. I couldn’t agree more. Conversations like these are what I seek out, even on a surprisingly cold March morning. I’m grateful to everyone who stopped to share, and I’m looking forward to more real talk (but I’m okay if it’s a little warmer next time).

Philadelphia Business Journal's 2026 Power 100 features familiar names from years past, new faces, and SEPTA Board Chair Ken Lawrence and SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer. The Power 100 is made up of people from across the region’s breadth of industries and serves as an indicator of Greater Philadelphia’s evolving business community. Those who made the list were selected by the editorial staff of the Business Journal. It is not a ranking but rather a guide that aims to reflect the most influential people at this moment in time. And we couldn't agree more! Congratulations to both Chair Lawrence and GM Sauer on being named as two of the region’s most powerful businesspeople. #ISEPTAPHILLY

Today is National Transit Employee Appreciation Day. It’s a moment to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and commitment #SEPTA employees bring to the customers and communities they serve. Their work touches hundreds of thousands of people every day in this region. Mechanics and electricians inspect vehicles before sunrise. Engineers and maintenance specialists keep critical infrastructure in top shape. Dispatchers and customer service agents respond in real time to keep riders informed. Together they are all part of what keeps the greater Philadelphia region moving. They show up for your 9-to-5 commute, for early morning hospital shifts, for late-night concerts and games, and for weekend family visits all while keeping safety and reliability at the center of everything they do. Cheers to the best-in-class movers of people! #ISEPTAPHILLY #TransitEmployeeAppreciationDay

Last week SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer recognized several #SEPTA employees who have been instrumental in inspections/repairs for the Silverliner IV Regional Rail fleet and emergency work to the overhead power system in the Trolley Tunnel. Representatives from Overbrook Regional Rail Shop included Maintenance Manager Brandon Grosso and Rail Vehicle Machinist First Class Leo Puccio. Representing those tasked with overhead power work for the trolley network were Maintenance Managers Jerri Farmer and Kevin O’Dowd and Overhead Maintainer First Class Vincent Troisi. Representing staff responsible for extensive monitoring of the trolleys as repairs were made were Maintenance Manager Ali McNeal and Mechanical Repairer First Class Darrin Fullard. These employees are representative of the hundreds of employees that have stepped up to meet the demands of emergency work in recent months. Their skillful work and dedication has been instrumental in what has been a truly unprecedented effort by our workforce. We thank our hard-working colleagues for meeting this challenge and for playing a huge role in the effort to get these services back to full strength. #ISEPTAPHILLY #HowWeRoll

The National Society of Professional Engineers created National Engineers Week in 1951 to call attention to the contribution engineers make to society. It is observed by more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies and recognized by more than 50 corporations and government agencies including #SEPTA. This year’s theme “Transform Your Future” not only celebrates the engineering profession but aims to increase public dialogue on the need for engineers and inspire youth through creative and collaborative activities. Engineering can be defined as the use of scientific principles to design and build machines, structures, and other items including bridges, tunnels, roads, vehicles, and buildings. The world (and #publictransportation) wouldn’t be what is today if it wasn’t for the brilliant minds of engineers throughout history. Some famous engineers include Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Ada Lovelace, Nikola Tesla, Olive Dennis, and Gustave Eiffel. There are currently more than 200 engineers employed here at SEPTA many of whom started as interns or co-ops. SEPTA offers an array of engineering positions from Civil Engineers to Senior Project Engineers. The Authority offers job stability, a pathway for growth, competitive pay, and great benefits. Make your mark in history and apply today: https://lnkd.in/esCyVcag #ISEPTAPHILLY #NationalEngineersWeek #careers
