  • Modular design is gaining popularity as a smarter way to scale retail spaces with speed, consistency and style. From streamlined build processes to adaptable brand-forward layouts, modular systems are a strategic way to reduce rollout timelines, control costs and maintain design integrity across every location. In an article for Chain Store Age, Lowney Studio Director eric Price breaks down how thoughtful modular frameworks, enabling brands to expand efficiently without sacrificing creativity or customer experience. Read his full byline to explore how speed, precision and scalability can work together. https://lnkd.in/gkHkcRnb #RetailDesign #ModularArchitecture #RetailRollouts #LowneyArchitecture

  • Ho’opili is coming to life. This project so much more than a new hospitality development, it reflects how thoughtful design can support long-term community growth. Located in one of the island’s fastest-evolving regions, the hotel is part of a broader shift toward efficient, select-service hospitality models that balance sustainability, performance and experience. Designed to serve both residents and visitors, the project prioritizes local engagement while supporting job creation and neighborhood economic activity. As construction progresses, we’re proud to contribute to a development that looks beyond today and invests in the future of West O‘ahu. Alaka'i Development Moss & Associates (Construction)

As eric price, Studio Director for Commercial at Lowney Architecture, puts it, great design today is not just about how a space looks. It is about how it feels to be there. And those feelings are what keep people coming back. In a recent article for Progressive Grocer, Eric explores how grocery stores are evolving into true “third places.” These are spaces where people are not just shopping, but experiencing moments of comfort, connection, and community inspired by hospitality. From layout and lighting to curated hospitality touches, every design choice becomes a chance to build real connection and give customers a reason to return. At Lowney Architecture, we see it every day. When spaces feel welcoming, engaging, and thoughtfully crafted, they do not just support business goals, they build relationships. Eric dives deeper into this idea by illustrating how hospitality-inspired design is reshaping the future of grocery retail. 🔗 Check out the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g3_7Ynqu #LowneyArchitecture #ThoughtfulDesign #RetailDesign #HospitalityInspired #CustomerExperience

  • Prologis Nexus makes Bay Area history as the first LEED Platinum–certified industrial project! We’re proud to announce that our work at 1345 Doolittle Drive has officially achieved LEED Platinum certification, marking a historic milestone for both the project and the future of sustainable industrial design in the region. As the Bay Area’s first industrial building to reach this level of certification, Prologis Nexus demonstrates what’s possible when performance, innovation, and design excellence come together. This achievement was made possible through a true team effort. Thank you to Prologis, our consulting teams, and all project partners for the collaboration, care, and persistence that helped deliver a high-performance industrial building. Celebrated at a USGBC California event in Los Angeles, this milestone reflects a shared commitment to long-term environmental performance—and we’re proud of the team behind it and what this project represents for the next generation of industrial development in the Bay Area. #LowneyArchitecture #Prologis #USGBC #LEEDPlatinum #Certified #Industrial #BayArea

We’re honored to celebrate a major milestone for the Mayor Wright Homes redevelopment: HHFDC funding has been secured for the first phase, setting the stage for construction to begin on what will become one of Hawai‘i’s most transformative affordable housing communities. Lowney Architecture is proud to partner with Highridge Costa and HAWAII PUBLIC HOUSING AUTHORITY on this important public-private collaboration. Together, we entitled the full master-planned redevelopment in 2023—2,448 residential units across 10 buildings—creating a long-term framework for housing stability, equity, and community revitalization in urban Honolulu. This first phase represents the realization of years of planning, community engagement, and agency coordination. At full buildout, Mayor Wright Homes will deliver a vibrant, mixed-income, transit-oriented neighborhood designed to serve thousands of residents for generations to come. At Lowney Architecture, affordable housing is core to our mission. We believe deeply in using design, entitlement expertise, and long-term partnerships to help address Hawai‘i’s housing crisis at meaningful scale. Mahalo to HHFDC, HPHA, and Highridge Costa for their leadership and partnership—and to the many public servants, consultants, and community stakeholders who helped bring this vision to life. We’re excited to see the first tower rise and to continue building toward the full community. https://lnkd.in/ghrsUSrG #AffordableHousing #MayorWrightHomes #HighridgeCosta #HPHA #HHFDC #LowneyArchitecture #HonoluluHousing #CommunityDevelopment

  • What an incredible moment for West Oakland! The grand opening of The Phoenix at 801 Pine Street was a true celebration — not just of a new building, but of what’s possible when community, creativity, and purpose come together. With 100 new affordable homes and onsite supportive services, this milestone, led by our partners East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) and Abode, marks a powerful step forward for the Prescott neighborhood. For our team at Lowney Architecture, The Phoenix truly reflects our purpose — designing spaces that enrich daily life, strengthen community, and spark a sense of possibility. From its modular construction to the lively artwork across its façade, the building embodies renewal, resilience, and the power of collective vision. We’re honored to have contributed to shaping a place that will welcome and uplift residents for years to come. #LowneyArchitecture #AffordableHousing #SupportiveHousing #ModularDesign #Oakland
