Last week was a hard week. Personally and professionally—it just felt heavy. But something small (that wasn’t actually small at all) happened that I can’t stop thinking about. A couple of months ago, someone made microwave popcorn at Industrious and I could smell it all the way down the hall in my office. I was immediately jealous. I went up to Leigha at the front desk and said, “OMG that popcorn smells amazing—I wish I had some.” She disappeared behind the (very official, very locked) snack doors and came back with a package of microwave popcorn just for me. I was thrilled. On the walk back to my office, I told her about a previous job that had a full movie theater popcorn machine (shoutout GOJO, Makers of PURELL) and joked that Industrious should get one. We laughed. And over the next couple of months, I jokingly followed up a few times… fully knowing it didn’t exactly fit the sleek Industrious vibe. Fast forward to last Friday. I walked into my office after a really tough week—and sitting there was a retro mini movie theater popcorn machine, wrapped with a giant bow. With a note that said: “I pulled some strings and got you a popcorn machine… you’re going to be the most popular person in the office.” I just stood there for a second. Because it wasn’t about the popcorn. It was about being seen. Remembered. Cared for. Running a business can feel heavy and isolating sometimes. But moments like this remind me how much the right environment—and the right people—matter. Thank you Leigha Johnston, Madison Menzies, Deven Dale, and Industrious for creating the absolute best space for Mercury Rising Financial to call home.

When photographer and artist Jay Maisel sold Bowery’s old Germania Bank for $55 million in 2015, downsizing to a (still-quite-large) Brooklyn carriage house, the new owners struggled to find a good use for the space. The first floor became retail, hosting several pop-ups and other stores; it’s currently occupied by Supreme. But the rest of the building remained more or less vacant. But last fall, co-working company Industrious leased the rest of the building. In April, it plans to debut a new co-working concept on the 11,500-square-foot second floor: a “parlor” with three reservable zones ranging from the semi-private to the social, which both members and nonmembers can book starting at $145 an hour for a team of eight. “One of the biggest things we’ve observed since the pandemic is that even if you’re not in person at the office every day, every team of more than four people wants to get together,” says Industrious president Anna Squires Levine. “If you don’t have your own office or your office is not convenient, you have to arrange a conference room somewhere. Plus it’s not amazing for ten people to sit in a conference room for two days of an off-site.” Read more about the company’s plans for the Bowery space: https://buff.ly/vIWMlSU

Energy, smiles, and connections at The Great Room Conversations and laughter filled our One O’Connell space as WOBI, Rock 'n Roll Team Building, and amandabarnard.co brought together members and guests for an evening of collaboration and connection. We were thrilled to play host to Grammy-nominated songwriter and performer Ciaran Gribbin, who struck all the right chords while sharing stories from his life as a musician and exploring the parallels between a band and a corporate team, filling the room with energy. It was a night that reminded us why bringing people together is so important: to create inspiration, energy, and connections that last beyond the event. Thank you to our partners and everyone who joined us for an evening that was truly special. We can’t wait for more moments like this. #TheGreatRoom #Industrious #cbre #Coworking #Community #Collaboration #Connections #Teamwork #Inspiration #WOBI #RocknRollTeamBuilding
