𝗖𝗠𝗦 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝘄 𝗨𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗥𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗼 In yesterday’s 2027 Final Rule, CMS removed the SNP Care Management Star measure, but 𝙣𝙤𝙩 the requirement to complete HRAs. CMS didn’t devalue HRAs. It raised the bar. HRA completion is no longer a proxy for quality. In fact it never was. CMS is making its intent crystal clear: 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠-𝙩𝙝𝙚-𝙗𝙤𝙭 𝙃𝙍𝘼𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙣��𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩. Outcomes do. Plans that continue to run HRAs as a compliance exercise are now taking on real risk of: • Collecting data they can’t or don’t operationalize • Missing signals of rising risk that claims data will never surface in time to mitigate avoidable adverse events / medical cost • Falling behind competitors who convert HRA data into meaningful insight and measurable action At Icario, we’ve believed this for years.
