HNTB served as the lead design consultant for the South Park Bridge Replacement, delivering final design, for King County, WA Department of Transportation's critical Seattle crossing. The bridge reconnects communities across the Duwamish Waterway while supporting freight, marine, pedestrian and bicycle traffic. To meet resilience goals, HNTB developed innovative solutions including sunken caisson foundations, isolated trunnion frames, and a collapsible center joint, helping create a movable bridge designed to remain functional after lower-level earthquakes and recover quickly following major seismic events. Just as importantly, the project preserved the character of the historic 1931 bridge through salvaged architectural elements and community-focused design, creating a landmark that honors Seattle's past. This year, Metropolitan Transportation Authority celebrates the 90th anniversary of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, a vital link for New York travelers. As a partner to MTA Bridges and Tunnels, HNTB contributed to key improvements along the corridor, including the completed RK-93 Randall’s Island Ramp Reconstruction and Harlem River Lift Span projects. Together, these investments enhanced safety, improved mobility and modernized access across the region.

Transforming the streets of Washington, D.C., into a temporary INDYCAR street circuit required accelerated delivery and extensive coordination across one of the nation’s most visible and complex urban environments. For this weekend’s Freedom 250 Grand Prix, HNTB supported INDYCAR with planning, engineering, traffic management and project management services, working closely with DDOT, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), U.S. Department of Transportation, the National Park Service and other key stakeholders.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge marks a major milestone in cross‑border mobility between Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario. HNTB played a key role in the project’s delivery, providing construction quality assurance and independent design review for one of the most significant international infrastructure investments.

Built into a steeply sloped site, Victory Heights transforms the edge of campus into an active destination that strengthens pedestrian movement, links recreation and residential life, and extends the landscape through a publicly accessible green roof. A right‑sized competition venue, daylight‑filled training spaces and a holistic model for student‑athlete well‑being make Victory Heights the anchor for campus and community life.
