The Seward Highway through Chugach State Park is one of Alaska’s most scenic and heavily traveled corridors. Between mileposts 98.5 and 118, busy summer traffic, winter weather and a tight corridor have led to serious crashes over time, requiring a long-term solution. Working with the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities to improve safety, mobility and reliability along this segment, HDR is leading planning, environmental studies and stakeholder engagement for the Safer Seward Highway project. We’re excited to play a key role in supporting Dairyland Power Cooperative as they modernize the 33 mile Oakdale–Babcock transmission line to strengthen system reliability and resiliency in Wisconsin. We’re leading design of the rebuild, which replaces aging wood structures with new steel poles and specialized foundations while upgrading the line with larger conductors and a 72 fiber optical ground wire for improved communications. These enhancements will help reduce line losses and deliver more dependable service for Dairyland’s members for years to come.

The Canary Wharf district in London, U.K., has a long history of reinvention, evolving to reflect major economic and cultural shifts. In 2022, Citi announced plans to refurbish its U.K. headquarters, the 43-story Citi Tower in Canary Wharf. Completed in 2001 as the U.K.’s second-tallest building, it is now one of the first major office refurbishments within the Canary Wharf estate. HDR provided a range of building engineering services, working alongside architects WilkinsonEyre and tp bennett to transform Citi Tower into a multi-destination vertical village designed for 21st-century hybrid working. Spanning 1.2 million square feet, it's among the largest workplace renovation projects in Europe. The project demonstrates how technical excellence and design can come together to reimagine existing assets for the future.
