Yesterday at the Highmark Trail grand opening, our team had a blast celebrating alongside the Buffalo Bills and the Western New York community at large! Our 1.7 mile interactive trail is free to use, open to the public and was designed to be a destination point for all to experience fitness, fun and fandom. Together, we celebrated with Bills legends and Billy Buffalo, collaborated on a community mural created by Patti Thomas, aka The Ghost, and much more. To wrap up our event, two winners were identified from participating in our Heart of Buffalo Scavenger hunts and will be attending the home opener on Sept. 17.

For almost a decade, Angels' Place, Inc., has been a steadfast presence at the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. This Pittsburgh-based nonprofit provides resources to locate stable housing, education and support for single parents and their children. The walk strengthens its mission by driving awareness and impact — helping the organization to help others through childcare, early childhood education and family support programs. In 2025 alone, Angels’ Place served families from 18 neighboring communities, provided more than 16,000 meals and delivered over 41,000 hours of childcare — all while directing 84 cents of every dollar toward programs and services that directly support families, creating Highmark Bright Blue Futures along the way. Our community brought the holiday spirit early this year! This 2nd Annual Christmas in July event brought together our volunteers to assemble care packages for older adults in need throughout Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. These essential items provide comfort, connection and support to local seniors served by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging. In rural America, the health disparities are well documented. But with so many rural hospitals closing across the country, we are past a point of no return. Moving forward, a different approach is required — one that combines technology, community partnerships and a deep understanding of local needs. Pharmacies remain one of the most accessible entry points into the health system, and we need to strengthen their role in rural healthcare.
