You can still ground yourself with the 5-4-3-2-1 coping technique if you’re anxious while at work — even if the five things you can see around you are items on your to–do list, four things you can touch are keys on your keyboard, three things you can hear are your coworkers talking and Slack pings, two things you can smell are burnt popcorn and donuts in the kitchen, and one thing you can taste is your reheated coffee.
