Mary Beth Berkes, PE brings a conservationist’s mindset to GAI’s water resources and environmental engineering work. A featured presenter at five environmental engineering conferences over the last four years, she applies technical expertise to projects that protect waterways, manage flood risks, and support resilient infrastructure. Since joining GAI in 2010, Mary Beth has built her career around the intersection of engineering and the outdoors. Her work spans stream restoration, bridge hydraulics, inundation mapping, flood studies, streambank stabilization, and natural channel design, with a focus on practical solutions for clients across the energy sector. That connection to the natural environment extends beyond her project work. Mary Beth is an avid skier, mountain biker, National Parks explorer, and former skateboarder who enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and sharing outdoor adventures with her family. Her appreciation for streams, parks, and wild places helps shape the care she brings to restoration and mitigation work. We’re proud to have Mary Beth on the GAI team, helping clients advance smart, sustainable solutions that protect natural resources, strengthen communities, and support lasting environmental value. From project site visits to after-hours group events, GAI’s summer interns made the most of every opportunity to learn, connect, and grow. Throughout the summer, they stepped beyond the classroom to explore active projects, gain practical insight from experienced professionals, and build relationships with colleagues and fellow interns. Their energy and ideas made a positive impact across GAI, and we were glad to have them as part of our teams. Although this summer's internship program has concluded, the knowledge, connections, and memories will continue. Thank you to all our interns and mentors for making the program a success!
