Taxes: the one math problem you really shouldn’t get wrong. We surveyed 3,000 crypto holders on their tax readiness. One stat stood out: 76% know cost basis data is a problem but only 35% have ever actually fixed it. We’re here to help. 2025 is the first year brokers are required to issue Form 1099-DA. It tells the IRS what you sold (and for how much) but it doesn't tell them what you paid for it. If you don't fill that gap, the IRS could default your cost basis to $0 and suddenly your $500 gain looks like a $10,000 one. So, we worked with CoinTracker to build a straightforward guide — what's changing, what most people are getting wrong, and how to fix your cost basis before you file.
