At Arquitectonica, we are proud to celebrate the opening of Nu Stadium at Miami Freedom Park, set to debut tomorrow. The project reimagines what a sports destination can be by expanding its role beyond a single-use venue into a year-round civic and cultural hub that brings together recreation, entertainment, and community life. More than a stadium, the 131-acre site is designed as a dynamic mixed-use environment. Anchored by a 25,000-seat soccer stadium, a 58-acre public park unfolds as one of Miami’s largest new green spaces, complemented by retail, entertainment, and hospitality experiences that activate the site year-round. Our goal was to seamlessly integrate the energy of match day with everyday life, creating a vibrant and inclusive place rooted in community, culture, and connection. As the stadium opens tomorrow, we celebrate a new civic landmark for Miami, one that reflects the city’s spirit, diversity, and love of the game. #MiamiFreedomPark #NuStadium #InterMiamiCF #MiamiArchitecture #MixedUse #UrbanDesign #PublicSpace #CivicDesign #MLS #Miami

As cities face increasing pressure from urbanization, climate challenges, and infrastructure constraints, transport-oriented development is becoming a critical strategy for sustainable growth. In this article, Peter Brannan, Managing Director of Asia and the Middle East, examines how the next phase of TOD moves beyond building near transit to fully integrating mobility, density, and mixed-use programming. The focus shifts toward creating urban districts where infrastructure actively shapes how people live, work, and move. Through global case studies, the piece explores how layered public spaces, vertical density, and seamless connectivity can support more efficient urban systems while enhancing the everyday experience of the city. The result is a more holistic model of development—one that prioritizes long-term adaptability and urban performance at scale. Arquitectonica attended the Tenants Opening of SM Nuvali last week, marking an exciting milestone as this next-generation retail destination begins to take shape just outside Metro Manila. Spanning over 130,000 sqm, the project represents the first phase of a larger mixed-use masterplan that will introduce offices, a hotel, and residential towers. The mall is organized along a triangular, racetrack-inspired layout, integrating major anchors, an exhibition center, and an 800-seat chapel, reflecting Arquitectonica’s continued leadership in large-scale, mixed-use developments that integrate retail, hospitality, workplace, and residential components into cohesive, economically resilient destinations. At its center is an 8,000 sqm garden enclosed by what will be the largest ETFE roof in the Philippines. This climate-controlled space is designed as a vibrant social hub, lined with restaurants, cafés, and gathering spaces that connect retail with landscape and community. Renderings alongside construction progress offer a glimpse into how the project is coming to life. #MixedUseDevelopment #TransitOrientedDevelopment #TOD #UrbanGrowth #CityPlanning #CommercialArchitecture #EconomicDevelopment #Placemaking #IntegratedDesign #FutureOfCities
