  • "AI really needs to serve a need that you already have, not the other way around." On the Casual Cattle Conversations podcast, Haley Potter talked about how producers and ranchers can use AI in ways that keep them in charge of their operational decisions. She gave an example from her own ranch in Montana: an AI tool she built that reads cattle sale catalogs, then creates an initial list of bulls that meet what she and her family are looking for. This process that used to take hours before sales now gets completed in about 15 minutes. Haley's rule of thumb is to start where you have a real need, but also your own expertise. Then, let AI tools handle admin work so you get more time to spend out in the field. Watch her full conversation with Shaye Koester - Wanner at the link in the comments.

  • "Our ledger looks a lot better, because we can tell the difference between our wholesale and retail business now." Twelve years ago, Robbie Gianadda started growing mushrooms in his basement to show his daughter where food comes from. Today, Flat 12 Mushrooms harvests 1200 pounds of fresh mushrooms a week and they sell one-of-a-kind products like lion's mane nuggets and lion's mane chili crisp. Robbie used to run the books with QuickBooks and Square, but the two systems wouldn't connect and kept double-counting his sales. When ChatGPT suggested Ambrook as an alternative, he decided to give it a try. After making the switch, Robbie can now track profitability from just one ledger. And with accurate financial data that he can trust, he's been able to confidently expand the business. They're soon opening a new 18,000-square-foot facility that will 10x the production capacity for their lion's mane nuggets. Read Robbie's full story in the comments.

  • "That's $2,000 back in my pocket that I wasn't capturing before." On the peaceful lakefront of Au Gres in Michigan, Jeff Czymbor owns and manages 7 vacation rental properties. For years, he did the books for Lake Huron Cabin Rentals out of Excel and a box of receipts, but this took him way too long at tax season and receipts kept getting lost. He tried QuickBooks and even property management platforms, but everything felt overly complicated. And since he was often out checking on the cabins or picking up supplies, he needed an easy way to do his books on the go. Then, Jeff came across Ambrook. He got set up within 3 days, automating his transaction tags and logging receipts in the mobile app. He now has a system that saves time, money, and hassle, working right from his phone: → Claimed 20-30% more tax write-offs → Went from weeks of year-end tax prep to a couple hours a month → Tracked the profitability of 7 different properties in one place Read Jeff's full story at the link in the comments.

  • Some invoices you send only once, but others you send every month, for the same customer, for the same amount. Until now, that meant doing it by hand every time. Recurring Invoices are now live in Ambrook. Set any invoice to automatically repeat on a schedule of your choice, and Ambrook creates and sends each invoice automatically. Whether you’re collecting on boarding, a land lease, or the same weekly haul, there’s no need to set a reminder or return to Ambrook to send monthly invoices. Learn more in the comments!

  • We're proud to partner with the Mississippi Farm Bureau to offer Ambrook as an official member benefit! MSFB has supported Mississippi farmers and ranchers since 1922. They advocate for producers in state and national policy discussions, and train the next generation through agricultural curricula and safety education programs. Today, the bureau is made up of 175,000 members across 82 county offices. We're excited to help operators access better financial tools to save money and simplify the books. Claim your benefit by going to the Member Savings App, or at the link in the comments!

Recently I had the opportunity to visit with Shaye Koester - Wanner on the Casual Cattle Conversations podcast about a topic that can feel hard in the industry right now, AI. What I wanted producers to hear is that AI has to serve a need you already have, and not the other way around. I'm not telling anyone they have to use it, or use it a certain way. We all know how different one operation can be from your neighbor's or your family member's, because agriculture is that diverse. What responsible use looks like to me is pretty simple. These tools are built to give you an output for whatever you ask, so you come in with a clear question, you fact check what comes back, and you stay the one making the decision. Ranchers are expected to be experts in more fields than ever. Anything that hands back the hours spent on admin and research, so they can get that time back elsewhere is worth a look. I have two little girls, and I pray we have something to pass down to them. Whether that happens comes down to finances and information. If a tool can help someone get there, that's a conversation worth having. Thank you again for having me on, Shaye. It was a pleasure to visit with someone who shares North Dakota roots.
