High-Impact Tutoring That Preserves Instructional and Relational Continuity
About us
Paper provides targeted high impact tutoring (HIT) for targeted support. At its best, HIT reinforces classroom instruction through consistent tutors and content aligned to what students are learning in class. GROW, Paper's HIT program, delivers small-group instruction aligned to classroom curriculum and pacing, with the same trained tutor across sessions to preserve both instructional and relational continuity. GROW is an instruction-first support as an extension of classroom teachers. 🗣️ Real instructional exchange (not a passive digital program) 📚 Actual classroom content (not a parallel system of curriculum) With GROW, districts see 3× academic growth at uncompromised scale — embedded, enduring, and accountable. ESSA Level III evidence. NSSA badge backed. Built to meet the highest bar, and clear it.

Unless you're PJ Garcia (our NM partnership manager), you probably haven't been refreshing the New Mexico PED High Dosage Tutoring Grant page. Over. And over. And over.... PJ definitely has 🥴 And he tells us the HIT grant info for NM is finally here! 🎉 And here's something really cool. New Mexico isn't starting from scratch with High Impact Tutoring. GROW is already working in Las Cruces Public Schools. And so far, we've seen: 🔼 162 more students reach grade level (204 → 366) 🔼 An increase proficiency by 35% 🔼 82% of English Learner participants showing meaningful gains Connect with PJ to talk it through. He's worked on this grant with NM districts to get a HIT program in place that actually moves the Tier 2 needle. Book a call with PJ and learn more here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gb4MnV6s

"I don't know who you are, but I like you already." It’s officially boots-in-districts season at Paper. John Chapman is out in the Austin, TX area (and beyond) delivering Round Rock’s finest donuts and doing what matters most — showing up. ------ From in-person visits to talk about high impact tutoring to in-person rollouts where we can help you launch it. Face-to-face before the partnership. Shoulder-to-shoulder after. That’s how we do things.

There’s something powerful about being in a room where people are still willing to be learners. At the Women Leading Ed Summit, that’s what's standing out. Not expertise. Not certainty. But the willingness to stay open. To not have it all figured out. To keep listening, even when you could be leading. It takes something earnest to lead that way. To not armor up. To see work, to see the people in it. It’s the same thing we hope to preserve in students, the belief that learning is something you step into, not something you perform. The kind of space that doesn’t just make you think bigger, it makes you think more deeply. #WLESummit

“Your true north has to be what’s best for students.” That’s what really stood out in our conversation with Dr. Ryan Smith, Deputy Superintendent at Bellflower Unified School District. Everything else — AI, systems, strategy — only matters if it helps create schools where students actually want to be. Students first, systems strong. Because in Dr. Smith's own words: “There’s nothing better than students who love school." ▶️ Full episode: https://lnkd.in/gR2X8btp

🚫 High-impact tutoring shouldn’t be a marketplace of revolving door tutors. For Paper's GROW, it’s not. We use a dedicated tutor workforce; it's that structural difference changes outcomes. Because it allows us to: 🔁 Schedule the same tutor for every session of a HIT cohort 🎯 Selectively hire THE BEST tutors who meet a high bar 📈 Develop and support tutors to deliver consistent, high-quality instruction Why does this matter? Tutor quality and relational continuity amplify student gains. When the same tutor shows up every time, instruction builds instead of restarting. See what that actually looks like in practice — this is a full behind-the-scenes conversation with a beloved GROW tutor, Michael Remesic: ▶️ What high-impact tutoring looks like in GROW: https://lnkd.in/gSiF4EXZ

So what actually makes high impact tutoring… "high impact"? Not all tutoring is designed for targeted support. We believe high impact tutoring comes down to a few core conditions: 🔁 Continuity — same tutor, same students over time 🎯 Alignment — tied directly to classroom instruction Cadence — frequent sessions that build, not reset Without this, tutoring becomes episodic. With it, instruction compounds and outcomes follow. We put together a short FAQ guide to help clear things up —what HIT is, what it isn’t, and how to tell the difference. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gH-avaXu

Short Cycle. High Impact. Rapid academic acceleration before EOY testing is 💯% possible. Independent practice helps. Guided instruction, however, is the amplifier for academic gains 🚀 When high impact tutoring is aligned to classroom instruction and centered on priority standards, even a shortened cycle can move real proficiency before assessments. Acceleration isn’t about covering more content. 🎯 It’s about focusing instruction on the skills that matter most while there’s still time for students to demonstrate it. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g6X4acYF
