Date Everything! has several hidden characters, all of whom are among the most interesting in the entire game. One of these hidden characters is the personification of existential dread, Doug.

He's gray with a strange head and little to no emotion. This won't be like the other romances where you fall in love with a magnifying glass after several tasks.

Doug, in a word, is a bit of a dick. He's rude and cruel, but deep down, there's some good in him, if you can look past the utter douche front he puts up.

Doug Locations

Date Everything Doug Location

Doug can be found by staring at the wall underneath the stairwell that faces the dining room table. You don't need to activate him or press any buttons. Stare at the wall for around 30 seconds, and he'll appear.

This is the only wall I could get Doug to show up at. There may be some others, but this is the most consistent and likely the easiest.

If you try to interact with the wall while staring, the Dateviators will force you to talk to another dateable rather than Doug.

How to Romance, Befriend, or Make Enemies with Doug

Date Everything Doug Info

Doug has a rather interesting route, as it seems that none of your first few conversations serve any purpose aside from gathering the collectibles. Nonetheless, it is a very intriguing encounter as Doug treats you less like a potential partner and more like a tool for his amusement.

He's noticeably mean and off-putting, but if you dig deep enough, there's a bit of a story here about Doug and why he behaves the way he does. You'll want to be a bit snippy and not roll over for him; although you can if you really want to, since it doesn't seem to change your final conversation much.

Doug ShareBucket

Date Everything Doug ShareBucket

Each conversation you have with Doug will revolve around a new app that he wants to try with you. Up first is ShareBucket, which is a social media app similar to Twitter.

During this conversation, you should try to pick any of the options that aren't just pure agreement. Doug can be incredibly rude, but fighting back a bit will help you deal with him.

Plus you get to keep hanging out with me. And I'm dope as hell.

Kinda sounds like a waste of time?

But since you're somehow not convinced, I'll incentivize you...

How so?

The choices provided should get you the collectibles you need, but in reality, you don't have to do any of his tasks to get his Love or Friendship path.

You can still be rude to him and get the same endings. He's a weird dateable.

Doug PlayBucket

Date Everything Doug PlayBucket

This is where things will get interesting, as now you'll be playing some Sudoku. Well, sort of. None of the choices here matter either, but if you answer them all right, then you'll get the collectible.

You can just skip doing this altogether, but you won't get the collectible if you do.

What's the bottom right number?

2

Cool. And the top left number?

3

And now what's in the box 4th over from the left and 4th going up from the bottom?

4

Oh nice. And the 8th one from the left and 7th one from the bottom?

Doug VidBucket

Date Everything Doug VidBucket

Another app, another conversation with Doug. In this one, though, you can accomplish something, but you'll need to make a single very important choice.

Doug Dialogue

Your Response

Our mouths are flapping, and pointless information is being exchanged. See?

I meant more about hopes and dreams.

Forever

That all just seems like a huge waste of time.

That's it.

I just disagree.

Now are you finished? Cause I've got a long list of meaningless crap I gotta get to.

Shut up dickwad. You're pathetic.

Doug will be taken aback by your boldness, and you'll see a new side of him. He'll drop some information before running away, leaving you to wonder what you could do next in your next conversation.

Doug Love Ending

Date Everything Doug Love Ending

To get Doug's love ending, you'll need to follow the guide as I've laid it out in the VidBucket section. Once you get under his skin, you'll go back the next day to give him these responses.

Your Response

But she's never coming back.

I could be your muse. I'm pretty cool.

I've accepted that.

What if you started a new relationship? With me?

No offense Dork, but if Abbie couldn't replace Hope - and her ass was incredible - I don't see how you can.

It's not about replacing her.

Can't believe I've fallen in love with someone again...

Let's ruminate together until the Sun swallows the Earth.

Doug Friendship Ending

Date Everything Doug Friendship Ending

Doug will offer you friendship at the end, no matter what you choose in the form of friends with benefits. You can reject his offer in favor of just being friends, as this won't change anything.

Doug Hate Ending

Date Everything Doug Hate Ending

If you're hoping to get Doug's Hate Ending, you'll need to follow the Love path up until he tells you he loves you. Once he does, you can crush his spirit and show him what real existential dread is all about.

Sike, loser!

It's a truly amazing long con if you can stomach doing something like that. Even if Doug isn't your favorite dateable, he certainly has an interesting story, and at least he's nice to look at.

You can always use Skylar's Content Aware feature to skip the actual relationship and choose your ending.

Doug Collectibles

Date Everything Doug Collectibles

Doug has three collectibles for you. His patented Doug Point, the Sudoku Puzzle, and the picture of Hope.

If you follow this guide along the Love path, you'll be able to receive all of these and get his Love ending. One big thing to remember is he isn't like the other dateables, such as Bobby Pin or Dasha, since his story is mostly self-contained and focuses on weirdness.
