About Shane Limbaugh

Shane Limbaugh is a Contributor at DualShockers who began covering games professionally in 2025. A longtime gamer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Game Design and Criticism, Shane brings a design-focused perspective to his coverage, looking closely at how mechanics, systems, story, and player experience come together.

Before writing professionally, Shane worked as the Lead Writer and Executive Producer on a college game project for roughly six months. He also spent time working at GameStop, which gave him hands-on familiarity with a wide range of games, platforms, and player preferences.

Industry Focus

Shane primarily writes guides, reviews, and interviews, with a focus on strategy games, FPS titles, RPGs, roguelikes, and PC gaming. His work often examines what makes a game succeed or fall short, especially when it comes to standout mechanics, story design, balance, and overall player experience.

At DualShockers, Shane has covered PAX East 2026, regularly conducts interviews, and reviews games with an emphasis on how their systems and ideas work in practice. His representative work includes interviews tied to Split Fiction, Baldur’s Gate 3, and indie development, along with reviews for games such as Marathon, Esoteric Ebb, and Cairn.

First Game Console and Preferred Platforms

Shane’s first console of his own was the Xbox 360, not counting the Game Boy Advance he shared earlier. Halo 3 was the game that made him want an Xbox 360, and he spent countless hours playing it.

Today, Shane primarily plays on PC, where he values the platform’s flexibility, broad game library, and mod support. He still uses consoles regularly, but PC is his main platform.

Favorite Games and Genres

Shane’s favorite genres include FPS MOBA-style games such as Overwatch and Marvel Rivals, along with 4X strategy games like Age of Wonders 4 and Civilization 6. He also enjoys story-driven games such as God of War Ragnarök and Baldur’s Gate 3, especially when strong writing and thoughtful mechanics work together.

Outside of games, Shane is also a fan of anime, particularly shonen series. His current favorite anime is The Rising of the Shield Hero, with Fire Force as another favorite for its action and story.
