Nadim Saad shared thisDelighted to be speaking at Summit at sea this year! I love being part of this great community that is dedicated to making this world a better place. I can’t wait to share my views on the Future of Education and how we can better prepare kids to thrive in this uncertain world.Nadim Saad shared thisBuilt from within. The Community Stage is exactly what it sounds like. Not booked. Not packaged. Not parachuted in. Every speaker you see here applied. They’re founders, operators, artists, thinkers. People inside the Summit network who raised their hand, brought an idea, and earned the room. We don’t treat that stage differently. Same audience. Same attention. Nadim Saad shared thisWhat an inspiring weekend at the World Schools Summit. Thank you Vikas Pota for your commitment to bringing together edcuational leaders and teachers from all over the world to showcase their amazing initiatives. It was energising to reconnect with school leaders - many who've become friends over the years, and to witness how much innovation is emerging from places that rarely receive the spotlight. From Africa to Indonesia, India to Latin America, I was reminded that some of the most transformative ideas in education are coming from communities who are reinventing learning with courage, creativity, and deep purpose. The Summit tackled the questions that sit at the heart of our sector’s future, from whether an AI-first model should reshape education, to the debate around the role of profit versus non-profit models, to the evolving meaning of student engagement in a world of fractured attention. What surprised me, though, was how little time we spent discussing emotional wellbeing, despite everyone agreeing that mental health is deteriorating, and that we are facing a true youth mental health crisis. To me, this gap highlights something important: we still lack clear, scalable solutions that schools can adopt today. And yet mental wellbeing is not a “nice to have.” It is the foundation of everything — learning, attention, confidence, resilience, and, crucially, student engagement itself. This is why I was so pleased to see Rebecca Winthrop recognised for her lifelong work that has highlighted that genuine engagement is not just about pedagogy or technology — it’s about whether children feel psychologically safe, emotionally supported, and connected. In many ways, emotional wellbeing is the hidden engine of engagement. It’s also why, at the summit, I made an important announcement: We are making our FEELIT® Social Emotional learning platform free for every school worldwide to transform even more schools and children. If we believe emotional wellbeing is essential, it must be universally accessible. Not for a select few. Not only for schools with resources. For every child, everywhere. This commitment is our contribution to helping rehumanise education in the age of AI — and to ensuring that emotional skills become universal rights, not privileges. I left the summit encouraged by the global energy for change — and more determined than ever to put emotional wellbeing at the centre of how we prepare the next generation. You can register to get the free FEELIT® program through the link in the comments. If you were there, I’d love to hear the moment or idea that stayed with you. 💛 Hitakshi Arora Christopher Pommerening Stacey Brewer Theron Feemster Smita Deorah Jeff Poole Saad Sait Leticia Guimarães Lyle Christopher Skulte Baela Jamil Prerna Gupta Aude PERRIN Riaz Shah, OBE Angeline Murimirwa Pablo Langa IQBAL VAZA Shaqeel Said Rishabh Khanna Blake Spahn hashtag #T4Summit hashtag #T4Education

Nadim Saad shared thisEight years ago, my daughter said something that completely shocked me: "Daddy, I hate myself… because I feel like I’m a bad person." Hearing that from such a naturally positive child stopped me in my tracks. It made me realise that no child is impermeable to feeling this way and that most don’t have the tools or safe spaces to express what’s really going on inside. My daughter could only share those words because of the emotional coaching tools we used at home. Without them, she might never have found the courage to speak up. That moment became my purpose: to ensure no child would ever feel this way, we need to create environments — in schools and at home — where children feel safe to be vulnerable, to understand their emotions, express their needs, and always seek help. And this week has been a real milestone in that mission. Following our selection by HundrED as one of the Top 100 Global Innovations in Education last week, I announced at the World School Summit this weekend that we are making our award-winning Social-Emotional Learning Program, FEELIT®, FREE for every school worldwide. 🌍 Our goal is to reach 10,000 schools and 10 million students by 2027, offering the equivalent of £10 million in free wellbeing support. Requiring just 5–10 minutes a day and no teacher training, FEELIT®️ helps educators create classrooms where every child feels safe, valued, and deeply connected to a sense of community and belonging. Within just two months, over 80% of children report feeling happier, kinder, more confident, and better able to regulate their emotions and support their peers. 💛 All schools can register via the link in the comments to access FEELIT®️ for free. We have also recently launched our The Happy Confident Club for families to bring the same wellbeing tools to families and bridge the gap between schools and families. This is about more than wellbeing. It’s about helping to re-humanise education in the age of AI — ensuring that emotional literacy and belonging become universal rights, not privileges. 👉 If you work with schools, please share this post to help us spread the word. And if you believe every child deserves to feel happy, confident, and safe to be themselves, drop a 💛 below. Vikas Pota Sahar Cooper

Nadim Saad shared thisToday, HundrEDorg unveils their Global Collection 2026 — and I’m incredibly proud to share that our The Happy Confident Company Schools Programme has been selected as one of the world’s top innovations in education! This recognition means a lot. It independently confirms that our Schools Programme is not only transforming the lives of hundreds of thousands of children around the world, but is also internationally recognised as both impactful and scalable. Requiring just 5–10 minutes a day and no teacher training, it’s the most engaging and accessible wellbeing programme available, helping schools everywhere create classrooms where every child feels safe, valued, and connected to a strong sense of community and belonging. Our research shows that within just two months of starting the programme, over 80% of children report feeling happier, kinder, more confident, and better able to regulate their emotions and support their peers. This award also celebrates our unique Happy Confident Club, which bridges the gap between school and home, helping parents and carers continue the same emotional learning journey with their children, giving them the language and confidence to express how they feel and what they need. We’re deeply grateful to the HundrEDorg team for this recognition, and to all the incredible schools and families who make this mission real every day. 👉 We’re constantly improving our programmes, so I’d love you to share in the comments what would be the one change that you think would make the most difference in schools to boost children’s wellbeing? And if you believe wellbeing should be at the heart of every classroom, drop a 💛 below! #HundrED #HappyConfidentKids

After several years building, challenging, refining - we’re sharing a groundbreaking announcement, as we launch the most important new GCSE in a generation👇🏽 ⭐️International GCSE Global Skills Project⭐️ So grab a coffee or a tea, whether you’re in education, a parent or working in industry - this affects all of us globally. 📚In education, we know this is what’s been needed for decades. 👨👩👦 As parents, this is what we’ve been demanding for our children. 💻 And for industry, this means a generation of young people truly prepared for the world of work. I urge you to take a few minutes to explore the link today, watch the video, and get in touch. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dGV-Aij9 If I’m being honest - I’m feeling both reflective and incredibly excited. This has been millions of micro moments and years building up to this exact moment, and I couldn’t be prouder of an exceptional team who are now ready to deliver a GCSE that becomes the most memorable learning journey a child will ever go through. Because that’s what we do at 8billionideas. But this is not just the team. It’s our schools and partners - combining with us, with immense belief over the years. Through our challenges and courses, their students have built the skills and confidence to go and change the world. Without them, we would never have been at this point. It’s also down to our new amazing partner OxfordAQA. Their commitment to this has been outstanding and from the bottom of my heart I couldn’t be more grateful to Jennifer Duggan and Andrew Coombe and their amazing colleagues who’ve made this possible. Up until now, over 1️⃣ million children across 2️⃣7️⃣ countries have been impacted by our education, which is astonishing given that we've grown by word of mouth. And this announcement allows millions more to take a qualification alongside their 8billionideas journey. But this isn’t just another qualification. This is the most important new GCSE in a generation because of the critical skills a student will learn and take with them into their lives.🚀 To all progressive and innovative school leaders worldwide - don’t wait to learn more about it. But there’s a cohort in your school (and a parent body) right now who will thank you for getting in touch today and starting their journey for the next academic year.🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏾 I truly believe this is a moment where education doesn’t just take a step - it takes a genuine leap forward. And if you’re wondering how serious we are - I’m going to do the GCSE myself. My family will. My team will. Their families too. That’s how much we believe in it. Explore it today. Get in touch today. Let’s get started. ⭐️Welcome to the International GCSE Global Skills Projects⭐️

Nadim Saad liked thisNadim Saad liked thisIf I had to pick one skill for my kids to master, it would be emotional intelligence. Every time. If we can make it through the challenges of the next few decades, it increasingly seems that our children will face a world of abundance 👉 Every human will have a superintelligence at their command 👉 Online agents and physical robots will carry out human orders In other words, rationality is about to get a turbo-boost. Just like when we invented writing → we outsourced memory And when we invented the calculator → we outsourced arithmetic Now we’ve invented advanced analytics, and can outsource that. All we need to do is ask the right questions, make the right decisions, and give the right orders. Oh wait a sec That's really hard Because our brains at their primal core are still cave-dwelling, grunting, grubby little maniacs, regularly flooded by hormones and emotions, prone to superstitions and hunches and lusts and wild-ass passions. All this is why we should be investing in teaching our kids the most advanced forms of self-control, self-knowledge and self-mastery we can muster. The next century will belong to those who can control themselves. And *that's* why emotional intelligence is going to be the most precious of all skills. 🔄 Repost to share with others, and follow Rachel Carrell for more like this. Nadim Saad liked thisNadim Saad liked this📣Three in five children say they stay up late on their phone, playing games, scrolling or watching TV. Internet Matters' latest report, Children's Wellbeing in a Digital World, published today, continues to highlight the complex realities of UK children’s online lives. While online spaces support creativity and connection, the key finding from this year’s Index is that children are struggling to regulate the amount of time they spend online. 📊 Key findings: - Children now spend 23 hours online each week, up from 16 hours in 2022 – with the inclusion of new activities like the use of AI tools and livestreaming - 46% continue scrolling, gaming or watching, even when they’re not enjoying it - 59% stay up late on devices - 40% turn down in person social opportunities to stay online - 45% are skipping sport or exercise in favour of screen time - 29% say too much time online negatively affects their health This doesn’t occur in a vacuum. Many digital environments are designed to keep users engaged - through features like infinite scroll, personalised algorithms and streaks - making it harder for children to switch off. The Index also shows that children are becoming increasingly active online, posting and sharing more. And that harm remains stubbornly high, with 68% of children experiencing harm online (the same figure as last year). Encouragingly, we are seeing greater openness between parents and children, with more conversations taking place about online safety - which is a central part of keeping children safe. As the UK Government explores new measures to improve children’s online experiences, it’s clear that more must be done, not just to reduce harmful content, but to address the design of platforms to support healthier digital habits. 🚀 We launched (yet) another fundraising accelerator last week! 💰 This particular investment-ready programme supports under-represented founders in London, and is funded with the support of Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, delivered in partnership with Funding London. 📈 We covered a whole host of topics including types of investors available at different stage, how they think, building FOMO in a fundraise and what best-in-class investor documents look like. 👉 Our mission - to increase the number of funding rounds led by female or ethnic minority founders and have a material impact on the fundraising statistics over the next 12 months.

We strongly believe that bringing AI literacy into schools is one of the most important things we can do. It is the start of critical a supply chain of confidence and capability that will help our kids thrive in the new world being thrust onto us all. At UiLab we have put our collective brains together and delivered a series of AI focused courses sepcifically for educators. The impact was real, tangible and as good as we'd hoped. The good news is we're also product people, so we built it in a way that can now be delivered across the country, which is exactly what we intend to do. So if you have school kids or are an educator grappling with AI and what to do with it - hit us up for a visit and we'll leave you with superhuman(ish) AI skills. P.S I wrote this post myself (sorry Claude) so please excuse the lack of dashes and generally unrealistic exuberance. Kaitlyn Sapier UiLab Link for more info ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gUBrmpwv

This episode is with Stephen Muers, CEO of Better Society Capital – the UK’s leading social impact-led investor. His path to impact started long before his career, shaped by his upbringing in a Quaker family rooted in values of equality, social conscience, and integrity. Before stepping into the world of impact investing, Stephen spent years in the UK government working on complex policy challenges like prison reform, energy, and child poverty. But no matter how solid the strategies, he saw firsthand how culture often stood in the way of real progress. That realization led him to seek change from a different angle – at Better Society Capital. Originally seeded with £400 million from dormant UK bank accounts (yes, the kind people forgot they had) and £200 million from high street banks, BSC had a bold mission: to grow the entire UK social investment market. Since 2011, it has helped expand that market twelve-fold to over £10 billion, and now they're fueling solutions for everything from homelessness and mental health to affordable housing and social enterprise. 🎧 Tune in as Stephen shares what it really takes to unlock overlooked capital, rethink risk, and build financial systems that work for people, not just portfolios. 👉: https://lnkd.in/eDfkbMf4 #SRI360 #ImpactInvesting #SustainableInvesting #Sustainability #SocialImpact #SocialInvestments #UKMarket #DormantAccounts #StephenMuers #BetterSocietyCapital

💡 Investment Announcement At the Conduit EIS Impact Fund, our 100-Year Life thesis drives us to back ventures that help people healthier, and more fulfilling lives for longer. We are thrilled to announce Conduit Connect's latest investment in Gladys, an AI-powered home care platform on a mission to fix Britain’s broken care system. Founded by George Robinson and Alex Sorisi, Gladys combines smart technology, logistics know-how, and a relentless focus on better outcomes for both families and carers. The platform matches people in need of support with the UK’s best local carers — offering 5-star care at fairer prices, while helping carers earn up to 65% more than traditional agencies. As George Robinson puts it: “We all know that Britain’s care system is broken. Re-arranging deck-chairs on a sinking ship will not cut it. People are dying unnecessarily, and brilliant carers are undervalued and underpaid. Gladys is using this investment to supercharge its technology, and deliver the service that we would want for our loved ones.” Gladys has already supported tens of thousands of hours of independent living across a 20,000 km area. With this new funding — part of a £1.5m Seed round led by Cornerstone VC — Gladys aims to expand nationwide, delivering hundreds of thousands of hours of quality care by 2026. We believe technology can help rebuild trust and dignity in care — creating meaningful, well-paid work and ensuring that people receive the support they deserve long before they get sick. I’ve spent the last 12 years inside the UK’s enterprise support ecosystem: Accelerators. Incubators. Grants. Corporate programmes. Universities. Foundations. In practice, founders experience something very different. They complete one programme, gain real value, then… hit a cliff edge. No warm handover. No shared data. No sense of what comes next. They start again. New application. New metrics. New people. Energy that should be going into building a business gets spent navigating the system. After supporting 10,000+ founders through Hatch Enterprise, the pattern is hard to ignore: - This isn’t a funding problem. - It’s a coordination problem. We keep investing in programmes, but underinvest in the infrastructure between them. And the fragmentation tax is huge. For founders. For delivery organisations. For funders. That’s why I’ve teamed up with Caroline Gormley to explore a different approach. Not more pilots. Not another shiny initiative. But joined-up, place-based enterprise ecosystems where programmes, funding and pathways actually connect. We’ve just published Part 1 of a short article series unpacking: • why ecosystems routinely operate at ~50% of their potential • what fragmentation really costs • why coordination delivers non-linear returns If you’re investing into enterprise support programmes, be it at a local council, a foundation, via corporate initiatives or are deploying support at an enterprise support organisation, wrestling with these issues, I’d genuinely love to hear what you’re seeing on the ground. Because founders don’t fail in isolation. Systems fail them first. 👉 Article link in comments.

UK university degree no longer ‘passport to social mobility’, says King’s vice-chancellor | Students | The Guardian https://lnkd.in/dUNtvaXW The competition for graduate jobs is not just all because of AI filling out forms or AI taking away jobs. It’s also because of the stalling of our economy and causing a relative surplus of graduates. So the simple promise of a good job if you get a university degree, has now become conditional on which university you went to, which course you took,” Kapur said. “The old equation of the university as a passport to social mobility, meant that if you got a degree you were almost certain to get a job as a socially mobile citizen. Now it has become a visa for social mobility – it gives you the chance to visit the arena that has graduate jobs and the related social mobility, but whether you can make it there is not a guarantee.”

So many pearls of wisdom in this week's Assembly podcast with the brilliant Nelson Sivalingam. If you haven't come across Nelson, he's a serial entrepreneur and CEO and founder of HowNow. He's also a published author and a regular speaker at various events. We discussed a wide range of topics in our chat, but our real focus was on skills and impact - two things we should all be thinking about in L&D in 2026! Here's a clip, links to the full episode in the comments. And yes, we recorded this just before Christmas. Hope you appreciate Nelson's exceptionally festive jumper 🎄

SME founders: here’s what buyers are looking for I was asked about this on the TechExits podcast, so here are some of the main criteria search fund entrepreneurs look for in SMEs. If you are preparing to sell, focus on these four areas: 1️⃣ 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 Buyers want to see consistent growth and a clear path forward. If the economy is slow, growth through acquisitions can also be a valid strategy. 2️⃣ 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 Strong margins make the business more attractive and give buyers confidence in the quality of earnings. There will be years when you want to invest in team members and product, but if your plan is to sell the company, it may be better to make sure you have the right balance of growth and margins. 3️⃣ 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 You can build a great business with a single major client, such as a public sector entity. However, that is often not a sellable business for search funds. If one, two, or three customers represent a large share of revenue, buyers will see that as risk. Customer diversification is a key requirement. 4️⃣ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 (𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗻) This is especially important in software. High churn weakens the case for durability and future growth. These four metrics matter a lot, but timing is also near the top of the list. If possible, sell after a few years of strong performance, when the business has clear momentum and healthy margins.

The UK tech ecosystem continues to prove its resilience and its global relevance. The Tech Nation Report 2025 gives one of the clearest looks yet at where UK tech stands today. From record levels of VC funding to the continued rise of scaleups and unicorns, it is clear that the sector remains one of the strongest in Europe. What stands out this year is the growing focus on international expansion. Nearly half of UK founders are considering overseas growth, with the United States emerging as the most popular market. It reinforces a truth we see across our own data at shipshape.vc: access to capital and scale increasingly depends on global reach. We were delighted to collaborate with Marco De Novellis & Tech Nation and provide insights that helped shape this year’s report. Their work continues to capture both the opportunities and the structural challenges that define the next stage of UK tech growth. The ambition is there. The talent is world-class. Now it is about ensuring UK founders have the pathways and partnerships they need to grow globally. Link to Technation Report: https://lnkd.in/euZynnbP #Fundraising #Investors #Shipshape

Alternative Capital Pathways: Key Lessons from Our Breakthrough Session with Ben Maitland-Lewis Huge thank you to Ben for an incredibly candid and expert-driven session on securing capital beyond the traditional Angel/VC route last Friday. The core message is clear: Alternative Capital is another tool in the box, and a smart founder knows when to use it. Here are the top lessons Ben shared with our cohort: 1. Traction Cures All In the current market, "sales cures all." The trend is demanding strong traction and measurable revenue over pure potential. Focus on building and proving your business model first. 2. Equity is the Most Expensive Asset Prioritize non-dilutive financing (like Revenue-Based Financing and bank debt) to "extend runway" without selling off your most valuable asset. 3. The Math of Dilution A valuable framework for decision-making: "It's more important to own 10%... of a $100 million company... than it is to own 80% of, like, a $5 million company." Be clear on when dilution is acceptable for achieving massive scale. 4. Don't Overlook Reg CF (Regulation Crowdfunding) Reg CF is a misunderstood vehicle that allows you to raise capital from both accredited and unaccredited investors, opening up a "whole new market of potential investors." It's a powerful tool for companies with a baked-in audience or community-led growth. 5. Reduce Risk with "Testing the Waters" Platforms like Wefunder offer a "testing the waters" method. Founders can gauge market appetite and momentum before fully committing to a major public raise, significantly reducing risk and ensuring optimal timing for the campaign launch. Navigating the founder-banking landscape requires situational awareness, whether it's distinguishing between innovation banks (SVB) and counterpart traditional banks (First Citizens Bank), or leveraging community for capital. #startup #venturecapital #fundraising #founder #entrepreneur #regCF #alternativefinancing #breakthroughsession

TS Mentoring • 3K followers
Mentoring is a powerful way to help senior leaders navigate challenges and unlock growth. But how do mentors themselves grow to do this effectively? One answer: supervision, a mentor for the mentor. I recently had a one-to-one supervision session with Philippa Seal FCIM MA MBA, which challenged me to look deeper at my mentoring style and gave me clear, practical tools to improve. Her insight, experience, and gentle challenge helped me sharpen how I support others, and I left the session a better mentor. Highly recommended for any mentor committed to their own development. #mentoring #leadershipdevelopment #executivecoaching #reflectivepractice #supervision #continuouslearning
