Today at Prime Studios™ UK, participants on the Screen Crafts & Digital Skills Bootcamp stepped into the world of virtual production and green screen technology. Led by Dave Hackney, founder of The Digital Cortex, the session offered hands-on insight into how green screen workflows bring creative concepts to life across film and digital content production. This week, our Lead Creative Writer, Ben Plumb, delivered a narrative design workshop at Escape Studios with the MA Concept Art & Experience Design cohort. Escape Studios is one of the UK’s leading colleges for animation, games, VFX, and immersive design, producing studio-ready talent for some of the most demanding corners of the creative industries. This session is the first in a new series we’re developing, connecting with emerging themed entertainment talent, sharing real-world creative experience, and opening up the kind of conversations you don’t always get in the classroom. Plenty of sharp thinking, smart questions, and ambitious ideas throughout the day. Jelly runs New Wave Creatives, free monthly workshops aimed at young emerging artists or creatives aged 18-28. Offering mentorship, skills building, and the opportunity to connect with other young creatives. This month, 6th November, the New Wave Creatives group are curating an exhibition, which will be exhibiting in Jelly studios' window space for a month.🎨🖼️ New Wave Creatives is a supportive group open to everyone, those studying in the arts, recent graduates, or completely self-taught artists. I've never seen anything close to the level of support and industry development you get up here in The North. In both games and animation, there's so much happening behind the scenes to keep these industries going strong. The GM Animation Sector Report is a brilliant example. It's not just dry data, it's a proper human take from people who live and work here. Definitely worth a read.

MITIH is incredibly proud to have delivered #AnimatingTomorrow in collaboration with Manchester Animation Festival at HOST Salford MediaCityUK . The 2-day event was a powerful reminder of the strength, creativity and community spirit that define Greater Manchester’s #animation sector. This region’s animation talent is internationally connected, award‑winning and endlessly inventive. However, our recent survey conducted by MAF highlighted the real challenges facing the sector. It shows that while studios continue to grow,  the majority of the workforce are freelancers, many of whom feel increasingly insecure about their future. While #CreaTech and AI are opening new possibilities, the pace of change isn’t being felt equally across the workforce. That’s why Greater Manchester Combined Authority ’s plans for a Creative Leadership Council and Freelancer Task Force are so important. They offer meaningful structure and much‑needed support for the people who have carried our reputation for world‑class storytelling for decades. After three years working closely with studios and independents, we’ve seen first‑hand the resilience and innovation that power this community. With the right training and investment, we know CreaTech and AI can accelerate creativity, speed up development and prototyping, and strengthen the craft our region is known for. Greater Manchester’s animation community isn’t just ready to adapt, it’s ready to lead the future of the industry.
